RIP Mr. Neil Armstrong.
"The importance of the achievement of Apollo was demonstrating that humanity is not forever chained to this planet... that our visions go rather further than that, and our opportunities are unlimited."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've grown very tired of the rampant sense of misanthropy that seems to run through certain parts of the fan-base. I feel the very concept of it runs absolutely counter to the moral of the show. People seem to think that it makes them wise, or enlightened, or special. But it doesn't... it's defeatist and pessimistic in every sense of both words, and I'm choosing to not abide by it. Not in such a way as to be aggressive about it, or attack others' views. I'm certainly not looking to start a crusade nor do I have any delusions of changing any opinions through a group on a fanfiction site. To tell the truth, I'm mostly starting this group to make myself feel better.
But, I really do think there should be a balance. Just as the watchdogs who point out our sins are necessary, there must also be people who are willing to point out the good we do. To raise morale and to maintain hope. As Mahatma Gandhi once said: "What is true of the individual will be tomorrow true of the whole nation if individuals will but refuse to lose heart and hope."
And I'm not the only one. When confronted on his ideas about the nature of humanity, this is what Humanist had to say:
"I read history. I have a great deal of interest in my species. I KNOW we are capable of terrible things, but we are also capable of wonderful things as well. I see humanity, both the good and the bad, but you seem to only see the bad, or at least emphasize it far more than the good. You look through history and only notice the monsters and not the saints, the atrocities and not the wonders. You see all of humanity's collective evils and point to them as proof of our terrible nature, ignoring or dismissing our collective good. So yes, you are basing your humans off of human history, but only select parts, the darkest parts.
I am not asking for a sugar-coated, overly sweet, perfect angels version of humanity. I am simply looking for a complete depiction of humanity. You said you do not want to lie about humanity, and yet by dismissing or ignoring all of the good in us that is exactly what you are doing."
That is what I hope this group to be. Not a place where others' views are torn down, but a place where people can go to regain their morale and express their hopes. And where, hopefully, you can find some stories that'll give you a more fair or even positive depiction of... well... you.
So, submit whatever stories you feel are worthy of the tag: Humans Aren't Bastards.
Because we're not. We're just... human.
This is an expanding list of what some great men and women throughout history have to say about humanity:
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."
- Mahatma Gandhi
"Man's nature is not essentially evil. Brute nature has been known to yield to the influence of love. You must never despair of human nature."
- Mahatma Gandhi
"We cannot despair of humanity, since we ourselves are human beings."
- Albert Einstein
"The man who is forever disturbed about the condition of humanity either has no problems of his own or has refused to face them."
- Henry Miller
"I am one of those who think like Nobel, that humanity will draw more good than evil from new discoveries."
- Marie Curie
"As in the rankest soil the most beautiful flowers are grown, so in the dark soil of poverty the choicest flowers of humanity have developed and bloomed."
- James Allen
"Whatever misanthropists may say, ingrates and the perverse are exceptions in the human species."
-Napoleon Bonaparte
"I am proud to be part of a species where a subset of its members willingly put their lives at risk to push the boundaries of our existence."
- Neil deGrasse Tyson
“The reason I don’t worry about society is, nineteen people knocked down two buildings and killed thousands. Hundreds of people ran into those buildings to save them. I’ll take those odds every fucking day.”
- Jon Stewart
"It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart."
- The Diary of Anne Frank
"I believe in my whole race. Yellow, white, black, red, brown --in the honesty, courage, intelligence, durability....and goodness.....of the overwhelming majority of my brothers and sisters everywhere on this planet. I am proud to be a human being. I believe that we have come this far by the skin of our teeth, that we always make it just by the skin of our teeth --but that we will always make it....survive....endure. I believe that this hairless embryo with the aching, oversize brain case and the opposable thumb, this animal barely up from the apes, will endure --will endure longer than his home planet, will spread out to the other planets, to the stars, and beyond, carrying with him his honesty, his insatiable curiosity, his unlimited courage --and his noble essential decency. This I believe with all my heart."
- Robert A. Heinlein

Ah, I needed some of this. I recently picked a scab I thought I had long let lie die. Sometimes all you need is a reminder that there isn't so much apathy as it feels there is.
The world is not without good people.
All of these clips were filmed in Russia.
Same speech as another video, but with different images, and quotes at the end.

I know life is hard sometimes; believe me, I've been there. No matter how many tragedies strike us, we never seem to learn. It seems like every other day, war breaks out in some random corner of the globe and suffocates all who live there. Greed consumes our resources, and keeps the least fortunate among us in a perpetual state of despair.
Do not give up! No matter how far Humanity may fall, we do what we always do, and get back up and keep going. For every Hitler, there's a Gandhi, and for every Stalin, there's a Lincoln. We abuse, use, and torture each other, but we also love, cherish, and raise ourselves beyond our limits.
Despite every single bad event that has ever happened to me, I hold an unwavering belief in the inherent goodness within us all. Through human ingenuity, we did the impossible and conquered the sky. Through human kindness, millions of children who would otherwise have died from disease and starvation have been saved. Hope is what drives us, and it is hope that will keep our children going long after we are gone.
The world may be a scary, brutal, and downright depressing place sometimes, but we can change that! We can make this a world for everyone to enjoy, and make this a world of peace, justice, and freedom for all.
I wish all of you the best of luck. Make the most of your day and help someone in need. It's in you, I know it is. Because humanity is universal.

Some children don't even try to be, much less act like decent human beings. I've known children who called up gangs to help mercilessly beat down others for fun, sold hard drugs, perpetually stole, and molested women who deserved more respect. I picture the nastier children with horns, goatees, and stabby forks. Not mob justice pitchforks, but three pronged hellspawn tridents. In Christianity, and Islam, there are fallen angels (Lucifer and Iblis). Traditional Rabbis in Judaism don't endorse the idea of fallen angels. They believe that evil is an abstract concept (isn't religion abstract in general? It requires feeding your faith to keep it alive?).
Not every splinter group is evil, or the things said about them wholly truthful. I've read somewhere that Satanism is older than Christianity, but I haven't researched the details yet.
I had a Satanist acquaintance who was off her rocker, and believed that inflicting pain and blood sacrifices appeases Satan (true story).
Another was a Satanist friend who bought into it for the enlightenment/self empowerment ideas involved in Satanism. He does regular community service voluntarily for the sake of helping people, joined the military to serve our country, and is friendly/polite to others. He was raised by devout Christian parents, who love, accept, and take pride in him. He does the same for them.
After meeting insane Satanist girl, I asked him if he made goat/rabbit sacrifices. This was before I knew he has bunnies, and tons of birds in his backyard. He's like Fluttershy when it comes to animals. As diverse as humans are, you may run into a few insane sects or individuals who claim they follow certain beliefs (not that insanity is always bad). There are groups where you'll fit in, and do meaningful things.
God damn it when is page 2 going to happen I don't want to look at that post anymore.
I could just delete it but people who don't know what I posted might think I posted something extremely idiotic.

Eeeehh... If the kid finds it funny, he finds it funny. Disgusting, but not horrific in and of itself (To be honest I found the scene hilarious myself, but for a different reason; Narm Charm). If the kid's threatening you and trying to get you banned, that's a problem, and he IS acting like a dick.
On the other hand, if you were being rude and dickish over multiple posts, you may deserve being banned, messed up as it is. It depends on how you responded to his disgusting behaivour.
