This document is intended to serve as a quick reference guide for authors both new and old to use when writing in the Lunaverse.
This is a group for people who want to write in the Lunaverse I've thrown together. We also have a TVTropes Page!
There's a million possible stories to be told in this setting, and I can't tell even a fraction of them by myself. Get writing!
All authors are welcome! New authors simply have to send me a PM to have their stories added to the group. Once you've been added, your status will be upgraded to "contributor" and you'll be able to post additional stories without needing to PM me!

First, unless you have already done so, it would be a good idea to have read at least all of the canon stories(so the Season 1 fics plus the tie-ins.). I know this should go without saying, and I apologise if you feel insulted by me starting with this, but I feel that this is an important enough step that it bears mentioning.
Next, if you go to the forum section of the group, their should be a thread titled "Lunaverse Series/Setting Bible". While it is incomplete at the moment, it does have a nice outline that gives information on the setting and, more importantly, the tone of the Lunaverse. It also has some character bios posted, so those are excellent resources.
If you do come up with an idea for an episode, Before starting it would be good to get input from the other people at the Brainstorming thread(Their have been multiple threads, but the active one will generally be the one that is stickied to the top), as that will allow for issues to be ironed out before you go about writing it. Just be careful about how you read many of the posts that will inevitably critique your ideas. Most of us do generally point out both the good parts of ideas and the potential issues, but sometimes we get a little carried away trying to fix the issues that crop up(I myself tend to forget to mention what I like about many of the ideas that get posted). As well, if you do have trouble coming up with ideas on your own, you could go back through the thread and find the ideas that have been forgotten about and using those. Some of us post "idea lists" that are generally open for anyone to use. Just make sure no one else has claimed an idea already, as that would make things...awkward.
As well, It could be a good idea to join in on one of the monthly writing events or write a non-canon fic, as that allows a way for you to get practice writing with the characters and how they interact, while also allowing leeway when it comes to keeping everything straight completely.
Finally, remember to have fun, and if I missed anything, someone will probably inform you eventually.
Okay, I'm new to the Lunaverse, and any ideas of how I can start a story?

There are no CMC in the Lunaverse. If you have an idea, make sure to run it by on the forum. We can help you form it out and make it a stronger fit for the Lunaverse as a whole.
I plan on making a fanfic with this. Before I start, are there already Lunaverse Cutiemark crusaders? If so, who? If not, I guess I can just choose three fillies?

Well, this is still, to some greater or lesser extent, MLP, and therefore supposed to be a better place to live...a war every 50 years or so sounds about right.
If you'd like to make up a timeline of wars or something, you can go ahead, but I don't imagine we'll ever need to get into any previous wars except if it's plot relevant.
