>>310298310298 Yes I did consider doing it that way, but the problem is that I am doing it in my personal recording studio (i.e. my sound proofed cupboard) with a ribbon mic. So any external voice actors would have to be people who can get to me, or have access to similar recording equipment. Otherwise the quality would be sketchy and oddly schizophrenic.
I am also looking at doing post recording editing though I have only ever done that for music, so the result will be interesting, I will mostly be learning as I go on this project. I've only done voice acting twice before and both times the technical aspect was handled by someone else. I have however tried my hand at a couple of music albums that didn't seem to turn out to bad, so hopefully everything should go okay.
Have you thought of trying to add not just the accents, but having others "play" the parts of each individual character for you? As in, purposely posting a thread saying that you are looking for a specific character, and then having them meet some qualifications. For example, they would need to have their own microphone that actually has decent quality, and they have an account on Skype, or what you'd be using for the audio book. Then you could just record it like a podcast, and if someone messes up on a part, just pause the recording, and then start it up again when you are ready. Or just cut it out.
If you can do the accents and you can make them sound not horrible, then they're fine with me. If you could add sound effects, that would be cool too. You don't have to though if it'll take too much time.
I would LOVE to see an audio book! I'd put links to it on the GDoc if you did it! I don't have a problem with any of those. Message me when you finish a few chapters.
Hey guys, I was thinking on a project that I've been meaning to try for ages but never got around to it. An audio book.
I thought that MSL would be a great place to start, I am in the process of acquiring a proper microphone, and I am willing to put in the man hours. There are simply a few qualifying questions (Keep in mind I'm doing this anyway, I just want to know if you would like me to upload it, chapter by chapter, and post links here?).
1. does anyone have an issue with Coal being an Aussie? I can't help my accent.
2. On that note, Accents or no accents for particular characters (I can't do a southern accent)?
3. Sound/music or not, e.g ambient dripping and echo's in Sasha's cave?
That's all I can think of at this point, any other questions or comments give us a yell.
MSL would be my favorite fanfic but the thing is that I hate when stories are incomplete. I wanted to know what happens with Cupper(i don´t remember if that was his name), whats happens when Trixie arrives, Crimson, etc.
I get sad when I remember this story and Coal is not around here anymore.
I absolutely, most indubitably LOVE this story with all my heart, and if i could i would pick it up and continue it. I feel such a strong connection to the thought process of Coal that i hope i'd do it even a smidgen of justice, but alas i have no way of contacting him and wouldn't even think of picking this up with out his permission nor do i have a right to. It just saddens me to know that MSL was VERY far from the ending he planned for and unpleasant events caused him to have to quit this story, and even more so to know that he no longer has any desire to continue this in light of events. HOWEVER i don't blame him, nor am i upset with him of this, i know he loved this story and his readers so much, i just wish i started reading this while it was active, so i would have had i chance to get to know him.
ok i feel like i need to ask. and first of i just joined and am happy to be part of a group around such a brillant, lovely, and best story i have ever read in my life. now the question. does the story really only go up to chapter 180? i found this story because of celesta radio. someone was starting to read it and i loved it. then someone in the chat posted a link to the gdoc story and i started reading like a mad man...now im only one chapter away from "finishing" it and...this story has made me cry. i just don't want the story that has made me feel for it soo much to end on an empty note. so i'm hoping that the story will continue past that...but should the story end...i guess i'll just love what is there and praise the writer to no end. really this story is hands down the best. if anyone would give me an answer thank you. and if it continues i would love a link to it as well Coal Buck thank you for writing this story. I can't explain any further how much i love this story.
EDIT: oh...i just did a bit more digging and...kinda wish i didn't. i know that the story's done now...well if anyone here picks up the story i would love to hear about it. now excuse me as i wish to lament over the absence of Coal and the abrupt end of such a perfect story.
Oh, wow... didn't realize i added my story to this group I'll remove it when i go home. kinda hard to do via cell phone. i love Coal Bucks work, so i won't use his story's fan group to push mine. sorry, all.

My Second Life is the best fanfic ever. No other fanfic will ever match it.

Sounds fine to me! Yeah, we can message from now on.
>>307163 I would be more than happy to give it both a try. I will shoot you drafts and the like, so you can give me feedback.
How does that sound?
Also it seems that it will take me a little longer than anticipated to get equipment to do it with any sort of quality. Will keep you updated.

>>306781 Any thoughts on Accents and sound effects, I would like a few guidelines.
>>295798 I would also continue it if I had the skill, time, heart, and permission to. I don't have any of those unfortunately.

*sigh*
It's so sad the story is gone, I only got to chapter 40 or so. I know I can read it on GDocs but it's just not the same...
I hope Coal picks up writing again, I don't care when. Ponies or not, I don't care. He wrote amazing stuff and that isn't going to change.
