The pets of Ponyville are back again, with something a bit more substantial.

The pets of the Mane Six exjoy a fairly carefree existence, with relationships that satisfy and caretakers that give lots of love. They quite enjoy getting up to harmless mischief, usually at the urging of Angel or Opal, even in the grand city of Canterlot. Then they accidentally come across something they were not meant to, and the consequences must be dealt with in a very intentional manner.

A story giving my characters Golden Stare and Rosy Cranberry a little time in the sun.

Golden Stare and Rosy Cranberry, the front gate guards of Canterlot Palace, enjoy the pomp and honor of the Day of Remembrance, though this year Golden has a reason to feel a bit sad, though he will always try to hide it away.

The Mane Six gather at the library for cocoa, treats and a hard choice.

They must choose something that will happen in the future, and will affect it greatly. Will they stay with traditions or choose some new way that could alter the face of Equestria.

Nopony believes in those old pony tales... except the true ones.

In some sense, tales are didactic, teaching lessons or instilling values, sometimes preserving, in metaphor and inference, the truth of a painful past. But tales must never be stagnant. When the situation changes, new stories must enlighten a new generation.

By Order of their United and Equal Majesties of the Principality of Equestria, Princess Celestia of the House of Day and Princess Luna of the House of Night, with the help of the Ministers of Equestria and with a mind to advancing and honoring those citizens long neglected or never praised, come new stories to be read to children, and absorbed by the grown.

There are a million and one celebrations in Equestria, but relatively few in the hard and utilitarian Griffin Kingdom. But every griffin, ex-pat, visitor or certain citizen celebrates King Paddy's Day. On that day anyone in the know, Griffin, Dog, Donkey, Pony, Changeling, Buffalo is a Griffin and proud of it.

Prince Blueblood is a strange egomaniac, forever trying to make himself appear bigger and better than he truly is. From buying the affection of mares with fancy dinners and jewels to using his status to bring other nobles to flock around him. But following a humiliating encounter in Canterlot with a vacationing constable he has restricted himself to the palace, and been his best, which is the worst.

Then while he's in the kitchen pinching food he thinks he has found an impudent servant. There follows a curious collection of experiences.

After Applejack and Rainbow Dash take the step to admit they are in love with one another, they start down a road that will rumble over their uncertainties, fears, failures and odd rituals. They want to make it work. But wanting isn't enough. If they don't work, they won't make it.

Time rolls on, the years and seasons cycling along as things go along. Ponies and the planet age along with that passage. And the Black Knight-Errant Bad Apple is not immune to this movement. Perhaps in all the world, he feels it most keenly of all. The grand timekeeper's watch ticks off "like horrible hammer-blows" (in the words of Wilde.) It is either the end, or the beginning of something great.
