After the expulsion from Canterlot, Lilo, a female changeling, is discovered by a syndicate of miscreants and forced to work for them. Although their line of work provides "love" in the most crude of manners, it is inadequate to satisfy her hunger as her energy stores deplete. She needs to find another source of love fast if she wishes to survive, but when she comes across a certain pegasus, she must decide for herself whether or not love is real or just a chemical reaction.

King Sol and Queen Galactica are dead, Everfree City lies in ruins, The Eternal Valley and the Flutterponies have been mutated into equine insects,  Discord reigns supreme over the land, and Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have gone into hiding within the small mountain town of Canterlot. The future looks bleak for Equestria under its new tyrant, and slowly the land begins to bend to Discord's will as he resumes his search for the Element of Chaos. Can Celestia and Luna stop the draconequus before he gains the full chaotic power of the moon, or will they suffer the same fates of their parents?

A cry was heard from the top of Everfree Castle's most towering spires. It was a beautiful day in the land of Equestria; both because of the gorgeous sun and cloudless skies that brightened the landscape, and because of the joy of two parents as they laid their eyes upon their latest creation. It was so small and delicate, but nevertheless it brought copious amounts of joy to their hearts. In the arms of the Queen of Equestria was a tiny filly alicorn, the latest edition to their rare race, and to their family. The entire world had been given the gift of the birth of a second alicorn princess.

The parents had been given the gift of a second daughter.

Luna had been given the gift of life.

Now, there are a few things I need to clarify before the story starts:

1. The age of sexual consent in Equestria is fourteen years old. (There will be no clop in this fic. Only suggestive themes.)

2. There is no legal drinking age in Equestria. Ponies can drink hard cider, wine, etc from the time they are born.

3. There is no such thing as the Royal Canterlot Voice. I am going to say that Celestia played a prank on Luna when she returned from the moon.

4. Adulthood in Equestria is considered to be sixteen years old.

5. Alicorns age at the same pace as ponies until they reach twenty five years old. I did this so that the events in the story would be more believable.

I am hunting through the dark walls of our forgotten castle. An object of great importance has been discovered and I have been tasked to retrieve it for the good of all of Equestria.

There are traps, mazes, darkness. Lots of darkness that can shroud the vision of anypony.

There are lies, deception, sadness, and betrayal awaiting for me as I descend.

I vow that I will return but I cannot remember my mission. For if I do...

I can hear them. I can hear it...

I am hunted.

Can I survive through the mental nightmare that awaits? Is there any hope of escape if the darkness consumes too much? Can I keep my sanity?

Can we make the Dark Descent?
