EDIT: March 21, 2013 LOOKING FOR WILLING PROOFREADERS AND/OR EDITORS
Applejack never put much weight in having a special somepony. She was a farmer through and through, and her life is dedicated to preserving and upholding Sweet Apple Acres. Her very blood and family heritage has fated her to continue the long legacy of the Apple family's applebucking roots, something that she does with pride.
By all accounts, Big Macintosh appears to be nothing more than an inconspicuous farmhand, capable of no more than being relegated to harvesting his family orchard by pure brute force alone. Nobody in their right mind would find something truly special to behold about this muscular but humble earth pony's background. To an astute and enlightened eye however, unveils that beneath his bulky exterior, lies a plain but straightforward genius that speaks of a potential for paving the way for a new age of innovation in technology in all of Equestria, just waiting to be tapped into and fully realized.
The same story even holds true for her younger sister. Like her older brother, Applebloom has no obvious traits that are shown to be particularly outstanding about her. Coupled with the lack of both interest and patience in dealing with the family trade, it can be safely said that Apple harvesting isn't in the little filly's destiny. However, the young crusader, along with her other two brethren, have shown a remarkably broad interest in a variety of activities, with an enthusiasm to match. Though many of their attempts may have failed in their objective in obtaining the highly sought after cutie mark, this varied repertoire has unearthed passions and skills previously unknown to light, especially of her skills in alchemy and construction.
All in all, Applejack rests in the assumption that it could safely be said that her younger sibling's special talent lies on path of a radically different occupation from Apple farming.
Though it could be certainly be said without saying that Granny Smith once held a reputation for being a worker going about her work with fervent zeal and outstanding stamina, it is clear to anyone with half a brain that her best years are clearly buried in the past, being an old coot whose frail bones can barely handle the stress of a walk into town.
That means the whole future of the farm falls squarely on Applejack's shoulders.
She had neither the time nor the desire to find and fornicate with some stallion or mare, what with her duties at Sweet Apple Acres demanding that she constantly dedicate her life's work and passion to the livelihood of her farm. So she didn't expect anything much one cold morning when a mysterious pegasus crashes into the barn that is undergoing renovation.
A very "famous" pegasus to be matter of fact, who flees a most tiresome life, desperate to just settled down and find some simple peace. Both Applejack and this mystery pegasus will find out life is never simple, especially when their fates are intertwined with something most sinister.
