Twilight and her friends are approached by Princess Luna who presents them with a set of questions that trigger a long and perilous journey.

Did you ever stop to wonder what became of Trixie, Gilda and Blueblood after your encounters? What did these episodes truly mean to you? What role will they yet play in the lives of the Elements of Harmony?

Last, are these questions as relevant as the journey towards the answers? Who will benefit from seeking these answers - you, them, or I?

For untold eons, I, Princess Luna, have stood watch over the night. I have shepherded the stars, led the moon, and poured every ounce of love and elegance I could into my charge. When my ponies ignored and spurned my work, sleeping through it, or worse fearing it, I grew bitter and resentful, and lashed out at their ignorant stupidity.

Now, however, I wonder if they were right.

I see the stars for what they are now, a vipers nest of empires, wrought from greed, lies, hope, and madness. A turbid sea of fragile alliances and vicious betrayals, where even such foundations as family and love can find no safe purchase. A raging madhouse driven ever onwards by a blithe idealism almost delusionally at odds with reality.

And now, I alone must carve Equestria a home among these swirling points of light, or risk having it devoured whole.

I failed my ponies once. I shall not fail them again.

(A big thanks to ponyKillerX for letting me use his image "Lunatic" for cover-art.)

(Rated Teen for language. Also, the tag "Human" is omitted, as they're side players in an ensemble cast.)

After having a conversation with Princess Celestia, Twilight finds out the Princess has never had a special somepony. When the news reaches Rarity's ears, she decides to help by brewing a Love Potion.

Unfortunately, for Rarity, Celestia drank the potion with her sister, Luna.

Silence. The golden rule is silence. Silence, and obediance.

For years, you have trained as a royal guard. Now, thanks to the fortuitous return of Shining Armour, your old-time friend and Captain, you are promoted to guarding Celestia personally. What follows, though, is the discovery of a personal side to the Sun Princess that you could never have imagined, not even in your most vivid dreams.

Waking up in an alternate universe in which you are a supervillain can be hard.

Finding out your friends are rebels trying to kill or overthrow you isn't very easy to deal with either.

But trying to solve the situation? That's a real horn cracker.

I've spent the majority of my life tilling the desolate land in which I live. Every day, I wake up to move useless rocks from one location to another. This is an archaic line of work that my family has clung to for generations. It is a dull, grey existence.

Today, I have woken up in a strange room, lying in a bed that isn't mine. I'm surrounded by five mares whom I've never seen in my life. They claim to be my friends, and expect me to bring joy to the hearts of everypony.

Joy? I don't think I've ever experienced this for myself, so how am I supposed to thrust it upon others?

My name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, and I'm not sure what to make of this situation.

Rainbow Dash isn't having a very good day. First she was in some dark place, then it turns out she's in the hospital. Oh, and she's apparently blind now.

    Eventual Twidash!

Inspiried by the cover art, which belongs to the awesome 8-Xenon-8 on deviantart! Also inspired by the Ask Blind Rainbow Dash tumblr blog by Jykinturah.

Every week or so, Rarity gathers all of her friends for a little get-together at her boutique. Or at a cafe. Or in Sugarcube Corner. Anywhere that serves tea or tea can be brought in.

And every time, as soon as their conversation steers towards that most intimate of topics, Rainbow Dash falls silent.

"Fluttershy has never been the most confident of ponies; so, when she finds herself introduced to some deep-seated feelings for one of her closest, longtime friends, she's understandably unwilling to act for fear of losing a friend.

Of course, Fluttershy has other friends.

Friends that won't let her let the opportunity pass her by.

After all, sometimes all a pony needs is some gentle nudging."

    (Storypic by Noel)

A bit of shippy nonsense featuring Fluttershy and a twist. (Spoiler: It's changelings. Always changelings.)

It's been a thousand years. Princess Luna is returned, and the castle staff must scramble to see that she has servants to attend to her needs, and just as importantly, that they look the part. Of course, it turns out that it's rather difficult to find competent servants on such short notice. A hooffull of servants are chosen based on their appearance and duties, and are assigned to serve the Moon Goddess as personal retainers until more suitable replacements can be found. When coloring, Cutie Mark, and chance coincide, one of the castle's junior stewards is thrust into a role any loyal servant ought to jump at: Lunar Hoofservant. Unfortunately for Nightlight, Princess Luna is far more demanding than her older sister, and being her servant means contending with an unforgiving goddess who demands nothing short of perfection. Furthermore, somepony must be responsible for the inevitable failure. The duty of "Royal Hoofservant" just might be synonymous with "Royal Scapegoat."

Saddled with responsibility far beyond his post and expected to fail, Nightlight has no choice but to quit his post or to become the servant that Luna needs. This is the story of a pony's development from colt to stallion, and from servant to leader.

Thanks much to DirePony for the editing and story direction he's graciously provided me.

Rated 'Teen' for alcohol use, mild innuendo/sexual references, and pony-swears.

Not based on the (excellent) sci-fi novel of the same name by Robert Heinlein.
