With summer a distant and fond memory, Ponyvilles has begun to fill its basements and larders for the winter months, and with Garrets home unable to be rebuilt before spring, Cloud Kicker invites him to stay with her. But as the clouds are gathered, a new threat looms in the Everfree. Can they face this new threat, or will they kill each other before it even arrives?

The mane six fall defending Equestria from a rogue griffon warlord, only to return mere moments later. However in what seemed 'mere moments' for Celestia and the rest of Equestria, was a seven-month ordeal for the Elements of Harmony, and they did not return from the other side the same ponies, nor did they return alone.

As the warlord plans a new attack on Equestria, the Elements discover that something is changing within them, giving them new power and strength, but is it a gift or a curse?

However as the temperature falls, the way these two friends see each other begins to change as well, but it is still unclear if it was indeed for the better.

When Twilight Sparkle invites Applejack and her little sister to lunch with her and the rest of her friends, Apple Bloom is thrilled to be joining the mares on a grownup lunch.  She resolves to get Twilight Sparkle a gift to thank her for her thoughtfulness.  This gift serves two purposes though, and it's not until much later that Applejack discovers that Apple Bloom was setting up Twilight Sparkle and Applejack to become marefriends from the very beginning.
