After a misunderstanding leads to a vicious fight at Flight Camp that leaves them both in the hospital, Cloud Kicker wanted absolutely nothing to do with Rainbow Dash. However, Rainbow refuses to let a single incident destroy their friendship, and has been writing Cloud Kicker letters ever since that horrible day. Twilight Sparkle has been a student, personal protege, and friend of Princess Celestia for many years. However, when the Princess appoints her to be the new Grand Magus of the Equestrian Royal Court, everything changes. Celestia becomes reluctant and unwilling to teach Twilight anything more advanced than what is absolutely necessary to perform her new duties.

What is Celestia hiding? What is the Princess protecting?

Celestia's attempt to withhold knowledge from Twilight tragically backfires, pushing the student to learn everything she can of magic, the workings of the world, and the Princess's secrets. No matter the cost, no matter how forbidden these areas of study are, Twilight is determined to learn the truth.

Twilight is taking the first steps of a journey that once started, cannot be taken back.

When a freak reading accident causes Twilight to be admitted to the Ponyville hospital, Rainbow Dash is right by her side.  Compelled by a sense of duty and repayment, she takes it upon herself to cheer up her friend.

After receiving an urgent letter from Princess Celestia concerning a grave danger to Equestria, Twilight Sparkle undergoes a crisis of faith.  Can she perform a grim task for her beloved mentor, even if it means sacrificing all that she cares about?

Ten years. Ten years was all it took for Fluttershy's life to fall apart. She's living alone, her friends are farther than distant, her one and only love is married to another mare with kids, and she's been practically forgotten by the entire world. She's wondering if life is really worth it, if she would ever get her happy ending.

But life, apparently, has a very twisted sense of humor. All it took was one day to push her over the edge.

I know this story is very, very different from what I usually write. The inspiration for this story came from my own life that hasn't been agreeing with me lately. Here's hoping to things get better.
