After a miserably failed spell and failed attempts to fix it, Twilight gets a visit from a less than pleased Princess. Having failed her test, she gives the Princess no choice but to not only deny her the chance to become a princess, she also takes something away from Twilight and gives her destiny to somepony more deserving.

It's been eighty-nine days since the Day of Darkness, and Twilight Sparkle is still on her own. Eighty-nine days since she talked to anyone other than herself. Regardless of how lonely she feels, she prefers the company of herself to the vicious "lurkers", as she calls them, roaming around outside of her library. Whatever friendly, loving creatures they were before the Day of Darkness, something changed them. Something created these insane creatures, and nothing, not even Twilight, can stop them. All Twilight can do is live — live to fight another day.

Luna's nightmares herald the arrival of nine soldiers from another world: the nine mercenaries of Builders League United.  When they arrive, they are turned into ponies!  As they adjust to life in Equestria and investigate the strange goings on, Celestia is haunted by a terrible force...

The world's going to end in one week. It's been doing that for a while now.

Someone in Equestria's broken the world. They've taken time along with it, trapping everything into a single, indefinitely repeating week. Only the elements' bearers move forwards in time, but they've got problems of their own. For each cycle drains their talents from them, each conversation twists old friends into enemies, and not a single one of them knows how to save the world. Some of them have even stopped trying.

And then Twilight finds a way. All that's left to do is gather everyone back together.

Story arcs written about an apocalypse cycling in perpetuity and the effect it has on Equestria. Not as dark as it tries to be.

Across the ancient lands of Equestria, the harbinger of an eternal threat echos through to threaten civilization once again. Desperately seeking the peace that it has craved for since the dawn of time, the three realms send for their generation's elements of harmony, ponies of valor who make the ultimate sacrifice in order to keep the peace.

In the dignified Republic of Solaris, through miraculous fate, the ever humble and reliable Rainbow Dash finds herself chosen as one of the elements that will one day save all of Equestria. Unable to deny or run from her duty, the pegasi abides to the task and begins the trek to the holy realms in order to insure that the Spirit of Chaos remains unable to return.

However, pilgrimages to the holy realms are seldom undertaken without changing a pony, and after a chance encounter during her journey to destiny, Rainbow Dash starts to learn what Loyalty and Friendship really mean.
