After repeatedly being excluded and left behind from the Mane 6's adventures, only to do his chores at the library, Spike begins to feel bitter about his role as Twilight's assistant.

But upon seeing a shooting star one fateful night, he makes a wish that turns his life upside down.

The results of this wish will force Spike to discover the true meaning of purposes in life, friendship and most importantly, being wary of what you wish for.

Ever since Twilight introduced Rainbow Dash to books the pegasus has been spending more and more time at the library. Princess Celestia invites Twilight to go to the Hearts and Hooves Day Ball with Prince Blueblood. Twilight not wanting to make her teacher angry she accepts even though Rarity objects to the idea. Rarity now wants to spy on Twilight at the dance, but she needs a date, so she invites Spike. Rarity also needs the help of a Pegasus, so she reunites Rainbow Dash with her love from flight school - Thunder Flicker.

However, her dream is about to be shattered. Walking home to the boutique, going to the Library, out to buy some carrots, she catches fleeting glimpses of a mysterious pony figure wherever she goes. If that is bad enough, in the middle of the night she'll get pleading phone calls from an anxious mare, offering warnings and asking for help. She tries to shake it off, but Twilight knows what's up.
