Hearth's Warming Eve has come once again, which means fun in the snow, warm food, and spending time with family. At least, that's what it means for most ponies. For Scootaloo it means a day off from crusading, loneliness, and the coldest night of the year. When Discord begins to whisper to her from his stone prison, she questions the beliefs held by many. What was so great about Harmony? What could be so bad about a world where chocolate milk fell from the sky?

I'm rewriting the story. To my fans, I'd say it'll be worth re-reading.

Minor tweaks in some events, such as extension. I want this to be featured on EqD at some point, and they demand 3,000+ words per chapter. That'll be easy on everything but Ch5 which is currently 1,100 or something. I might combine it and Ch4.

Scootaloo had a fun filled fillyhood in Ponyville with her friends trying to earn their cutie marks. Now seventeen, Scootaloo, still without a cutie mark, is being pressured by her parents into a future she doesn't want. What will it take for her to find her calling? What adventures will she face? What places will she go? What ponies will she meet?

Twilight Sparkles learns a little too much about Fluttershy's personal life.  Fluttershy can't stand the embarrassment and becomes frozen in fear.  The only way to snap her out of it is for her friends to do some unmentionable things.

Scootaloo has been through a lot in her life, and no doubt this has been her worst experience.

It was her fault... What has she done...

She thinks to herself as the rain falls around her in the darkness.

Abandoned by her parents and raised by her wits, Scootaloo knows about the dangers of dreaming.  Any focus given to an impossible goal is focus lost from finding food, shelter, and warmth for another night.  Settling herself in Ponyville, she lives day by day, surviving on scavenged meals and the love of her friends and idol.

But when Scootaloo collapses and is diagnosed with a terrible disease, her fragile life is thrown into disarray.  Her resolve is tested as her illness impacts Rainbow Dash, strains her friendships, and confines her to a hospital bed.  With nothing but hope to drive her forward, how long can Scootaloo fight when blind to the only thing she has to hold on to?
