Bolo Combat Unit GNY has been defeated in its primary task and now plummets to a certain destruction.  What thoughts go through the metallic mind of a Combat Unit of the Dinochrome Brigade in its last few minutes, a weapon of war now resigned to its ultimate fate?

Done as a challenge from a friend, to write something that covers a subject not directly covered before in FIMfiction.   Created during National Pony Writing Week in August 2012, not posted until now because I’m lazy.  For more stories in Keith Laumer’s Bolo series, check out the Baen Books Library or the exceptional author William H. Keith (He writes much better than I ever could)

In 2185, during his campaign against the Collectors, Commander Shepard discovered a previously unknown species whose origins predated any other race in the modern galaxy. Following a daring rescue from their ancient sanctuary, the Equestrian Herd was brought back into the galaxy where, for the first time in eons, they must walk their own path.

Knowing full well the terrible threat that lingers on the edge of the galaxy, the leader of this newly freed race fights to secure her people’s future while attempting to prepare for the storm on the horizon.

    This is her story.

Canterlot, the last equine city, is an atmosphere-piercing metropolis of vast size. Clinging to its skin are the zones, a series of semi-autonomous city-states, each of which enjoys a different - and rigidly enforced - level of technology. Ponyville is pre-industrial; in Neon Heights they have television and electric trains . . .

Following an infiltration mission that went tragically wrong, Twilight Sparkle has been living incognito, working as a pathologist in the district morgue. She's never caused any bother for anyone, and she's certainly never caused any bother for herself. But when a near-dead alicorn named Shining Armour drops onto her dissection table, Twilight's world is wrenched apart once more as her past finally catches up with her, for Shining Armour is a winged post-equine from Canterlot's Celestial Levels, the penultimate heights of the Godscraper.

If Twilight is to save her life, she must leave her home and journey into the cold and hostile lands beyond Canterlot's base, starting an exile that will take her further than she could ever imagine with only her saddlebag of medicines, and the foul mouthed pegasus Rainbow Dash, to rely on. However, things aren't always that simple, and even as Twilight flees for her own safety, she soon finds herself entangled in a fight for the survival of the Godscrapers very exsistence.

Inspired by British novelist Alastair Reynolds, and my little brother Charlie.

Summer is the perfect season for things that grow. However, growth needs fuel, warmth can burn, and romance can be the most volatile fire there is. After she leaves Ponyville and lands a job as a city guard, Gilda will have summer days that are filled with lessons of growth, of love, and of pain.

This is a sequel to Heart of Gold, Feathers of Steel. I recommend reading that story first.

This story is concluded in Evening Flames

Special thanks to WentoX for this awesome, custom cover.

When Star Swirl the Bearded's wicked apprentices Cirrus and Archeon had ended their campaign of looting, murder, and destruction across the worlds Linked to Aitran Island, there were more intact books than were uncovered by Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash.  One of those books is I'strukun, the link to the first in a network of worlds intended to instruct Star Swirl's apprentices and daughter in the principles behind Writing links to other worlds.  When Nyx insists she be allowed to take the lessons and Star Swirl admits his fear that Cirrus and Archeon may have caused great destruction to the worlds, Twilight and Spike accompany Nyx and take a look around.

    Sequel to Aitran and Sohndar

A human arrives with a house in Ponyville.  The Mane Six, and Princess Luna must deal with this new arrival.  But not everyone agrees how it should be handled, not everyone agrees on what danger it represents, or the benefit it can be to Equestria.

The inhabitant must also deal with the new rules and conventions of this new world it knows nothing about, as well as the mystery of its appearance, and the incongruities of its arrival.

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

    -Thomas Jefferson

Three hundred years ago, Equestria tried to assimilate Earth.

They failed. They fled, rather than face justice.

We moved on. We conquered the stars, we made a civilization that spans across the infinite void. We built true harmony between species.

We thought we'd seen the last of Celestia, but as a desperate mobile colony on the fringes of known space came to discover, we were wrong.

It is time to finish what was started by our forefathers.

Sequel to TCB: Not Alone, by Starman Ghost.

EDIT: Following Starman Ghost's deleting of Not Alone, I've replaced the above link with one leading to a PDF file uploaded to mediafire.

Twilight Sparkle has always admired Princess Celestia. Her fortitude, her wisdom, her eternal grace and love for all her subjects. Twilight has often fantasized about what it would be like to be in Princess Celestia's horseshoes. She never imagined those fantasies would come true.

Original inspiration for the concept of Sunny Skies came from the wonderful fic: "Sunny Skies All Day Long".
