Authors notes: The first chapter is super short (its also really awesome if I do say so myself) but the rest won't be. Promise. Their will be some combat later on, but at the moment, it won't be super graphic, so again, dodging a bullet. The first 2 or 3 chapters will be a little sad/tragic, but its not the tone of the story, and its nothing to bad so they won't be tagged. The entire story will not be written like the first chapter. Lastly, as the story evolves tags are subject to change.

It had been a year since Spike went on the Great Dragon Migration, and while he didn't find any of the answer he was looking for, he did find his place. Now, after making a startling discovery in the caves by Ponyville, Spike has another chance to get the answers he once longed for, but will he be able to accept the truth as he learns what it means to be a dragon assistant?

This is only my second fanfic, so while I don't mind it being ripped apart without mercy over just about everything, please do so in a kind, loving, and toleratant manner. This is also going to be my first crack at coming up with an entirely original story, so I'm not quite sure how it will turn out, but I have an idea on where this will go.

Edit: I redid the Long description, because I realized how stupid the first one sounded after rereading it once or twice. I'm just about done setting the stage for the rest of the story. If all goes well, I should have the next chapter up next weekend. Depends on school work.

However, instead of hitting rock bottom, they find themselves in Equestria - fifty years in the future. A lot has changed in that time, as they find out but soon they will find a secret that will stay with them forever as they try to find their way back home.

It has been five years since he first arrived in Ponyville, and Spike has grown both physically and emotionally. Yet even though he's remained infatuated with Rarity for so long, he's bottled up his feelings, until reality hits him, and his depression forces him to make certain decisions he may later come to regret. Now he must face reality, and all that it entails, including his own reflection, whether he likes it or not.

Spike's choices, however, affect not only him, but those closest to him as well. The six ponies he holds closest to his heart will bear witness to his suffering, and they themselves shall know love at its best...

And at its worst...

Rated Teen, because, just in case. Sometimes it's better to be safe rather than sorry. No sex or gore, just in case you were wondering.

As the years drew on, Spike's childish heart grew into that of a true adult, longing for the finer things in life; the finest things. He pursues his relationship with Rarity, but all does not go as planned.

Filled with anger and sorrow, Spike and Rarity fall away from one another. In his grief, Spike pursues new interests, and their friendship is in danger of never recovering.

But perhaps the truest words in life are these: you do not know what you had until you have lost it. Jealous and alone,  finding no comfort in stallions she once loved, can Rarity reclaim her one chance at true love, before it is too late?

It can be said the multiverse is a series of rivers, each one its own reality, all flowing infinitely close to each other, but never touching.
