If this were a normal case, I wouldn't be chasing after a foalnapper who keeps mailing me riddles that he expects me to solve. I wouldn't be living with an alcoholic perfume salesmare who can't hardly remember her own name, let alone mine. And I certainly wouldn't be turning the fair town of Ponyville upside-down looking for somepony I didn't really want to find in the first place.

Then again, if this were a normal case, they probably wouldn't have hired me to crack it.

ON HIATUS (as in, not cancelled) until I get a bit farther into Harmony/I have more time to consistently devote to writing.

In school, everypony learns about the official history of Equestria, the acts of heroes and villains that made the world what it is today. But at home, everypony learns another, secret history, about how their family and theirs alone is at the center of Equestria's history, and how without them, the world will fall apart. This Hearth's Warming Eve, Twilight Sparkle and their friends will share their secret histories, and in this way discover that the bonds between them reach back far earlier than Rainbow Dash's first Sonic Rainboom.

This is a follow-up to my earlier story, "The Best of All Possible Worlds". That story was set centuries in the past, while this story is present day. If you're wondering where the humans came from, see another side story that is otherwise unrelated to this, "Parade Coverage". Despite that, I expect that this story stands alone. The story's set in an alternate-universe Season Three that branched off early in Season Two.

For generations, humanity has dreamed of discovering intelligent life out in the stars. To say that ending that search in downtown Pasadena was a surprise would be an understatement.

Princess Luna had herself a simple mission: Track Twilight Sparkle and her friends through a malfunctioning portal to Earth, and get them out without being noticed. Luna had no desire to establish permanent relations, or even to stay and talk. After all, both princesses were convinced from previous experience that humans were nothing but trouble.

It appears that both parties have much to learn about each other.

Present-day follow-up to "The Best of All Possible Worlds". "Alternate Universe" tag is because it pretty quickly diverges from Second Season continuity.

Octavia's new to Ponyville, and she just bought a used couch.  As it turns out, she has to move the heavy thing clear across town on her lonesome.  That isn't the problem.  The problem is these damn crazy ponies who won't stop pestering her.

Tradition. Status. Two words that resonate in the daily lives of the noble gryphons, high and low. For hundreds of years, the hierarchy of status has reigned supreme, from family, clan, to state.

In the century before the return of Nightmare Moon, an act of kindness breaks social barriers, and begins to snowball into something heavier. The question of tradition begins to rear it's head in the highest of the Confederacy's chambers: Congress itself.

It was a needlessly poetic gesture, but Rarity positioned herself so that the tear would fall on Sweetie Belle.

“I love you, little sister. Be good, and I promise to join you soon.”

The night after Rarity buys a dead soul gem, something deep inside it sparkles to life. The next day, a pony is taken somewhere grey to await their death because of her selfishness. With the help of the mysterious rock, she enters a world of reflections to save the one she loves the most.

    So begins Rarity’s fantastic journey.

Part of a series about a pony's closest companions.

A short word about the revision. These are a few notes about the old one and why I took a drastic change of direction.

Most of the time, Applejack is honest.  A lot of times, she's a dependable pony.

Then, sometimes, she's full of militant squirrels piloting her in a war with the Chipmunk Confederacy over a sacred acorn.

    Dearest Billy,

It is with a heavy hand that I must relay: He is dead, and passed away among his bees only some hours ago. I, too, am not long of this earth, thus it falls to you to publish my final wish. The attached parcel is my tin box--you have ferried it hither and thither before--and it is where notes from all our adventures, spanning two centuries, as many wars and three monarchs had been safely kept. The remaining bundles within, however, we agreed some time ago to never publish, lest our reputations be shredded. However, with his passing heavy on my mind, I cannot forget such cases, so singular and impressive that they prove, without a doubt, that Sherlock Holmes was the greatest detective London, Britannia, and Worlds beyond our farthest imaginations could ever have known. These cases will confuse you--perhaps even tarnish your memories of us--but mark my words: they are as true and real as the paper upon which you read this letter.

    Most Faithfully,

    Dr John. H. Watson MD

Cloudsdale.  Bastion of the Pegasi, linchpin of weather control, home to the Wonderbolts.  A magnificent metropolis gracing the skies of Equestria.  So what happens when an oblivious human starts stumbling around in a hang-glider?  As they say, hilarity ensues.
