Rome:

A city on a small peninsula, built by survivors of a fallen city of legend.

From this, they built an empire that would control Europe and the Mediterranean sea, to last the ages, still talked about and used to write fanfiction for up to 2000 years later.

The 20th legion, the Victorious and Valiant.

They were the legion sworn to protect, defend, and if need be control the state of Britannia during the reign of the roman empire.

Their banner is of the boar, and their shield their loyalty to Rome and each other.

they are legionaries, Roman born soldiers.

the Caledonians (Scotts) wish to drive Romans off their island, by force preferably.

however, the fates have given them a very, very effective alternative.

I have not seen any Stories involving a Roman Legion, or Romans in general, and could not let that stand.

As well, I have had this idea for a while, or at least since hearing about the fan theory that Romans have visited Equestria, I believe it is from Blackwing's chess universe.

After the War of the Ring and the return of peace to Middle-earth, Gandalf the White departs for Equestria to pay a visit to two old friends of his; specifically, two old alicorn friends of his.

What he does not foresee is that Equestria, like its populace, has changed vastly since his previous visit, and as a result he is quite unprepared for what lies ahead. Can the old wizard endure the trials that this new journey will bring to him? Surely, but only if he makes a few more friends along the way.

Six of them, to be exact.
