In the land of Equestria, there is only war. These are the days of the great civil unrest between two divine sisters and their people. Equestria which was once a unified land now split asunder into eternal night and day. To the east the sun rose and from the fire the Solar empire was born. To the west the sun fell and the New Lunar republic brought on the cloak of eternal night. Many generations past since that first day and night and no pony of the two can ever be the same once again.

At the heart of it all Canterlot stands as the front line where ponies in their many thousands die everyday for their beloved queen and country. Hiding in the fire and shadows, the cult of Discord conspire to whisper promises to everypony with temptations of riches, power and parties in a bid for eternal chaos. Hiding further incognito the underground empire of the changelings conspires to love and feed upon the masses. And deep in the woods and mountains ancient creatures stir and madden to the scent of the flesh and blood of Everypony.

This is a dark age, a bloody age, an age of war and sorcery. It is an age of battle and death, and of the world's ending. Amidst all the fire and steel and fury it is a time, too, of mighty heroes, of bold deeds and great courage. As the battles grow ever more epic, Equestria needs heroes like never before.
