Thursday morning. Twilight Sparkle was up bright and early, around 7 o'clock today, not because she had planned anything truly important, but simply because she wanted to catch up on whatever books she hadn't read yet. Scanning through her massive library, she had not been looking for anything in particular, but rather something that caught the purple pony's eye first. She stopped and focused upon one title that seemed very interesting. Her unicorn horn glowed in a brilliant lavender light as she levitated the book from the shelf. She brought it down to her level and read the title aloud.
"Beyond Our Reality: Understanding Dimensions Above the Third"
She shrugged to herself, thinking that it sounded interesting enough. She rested herself near the window next to her bed and allowed the beautiful morning light to brighten the pages of her book. She opened the book to the introductory chapter and proceeded to do one of the things she loved the most in life: read.
Ten o' clock. Spike yawned and stretched out in his small basket bed as he awoke from a delightful dream. "Ah, Rarity... one day." he said to himself before stretching one final time. He looked over at Twilight who was too deep into her book to hear the baby dragon waking. "G'morning Twilight." Spike said as he picked himself up out of bed. Twilight remained silent as she magically flipped a page in her book, complete oblivious to her surroundings. Spike just smiled and shook his head. I Guess I'm feeding myself today then. he thought as he walked to and down the stairs. Spike was about to walk over to the 'house' portion of the library which was where the kitchen was, but was stopped in his tracks by a knock at the door. He looked over at the door and then to the kitchen. The knocking sounded out again, and he sighed. Breakfast will have to wait today. he thought to himself as he turned his course over to the door. He opened the door to find a familiar face on the other side. It was His and Twilight's good friend Pinkie Pie. She held a platter of freshly baked cupcakes in her mouth in front Spike's face and said, "Hm, Spmmke!! Wmmnm Cmmpcmmke?" (Hey, Spike!! Wanna cupcake?) A huge grin spread across Spike's face as took one of the delicious pastries. "Thanks, Pinkie!" he said as he looked up to... nothing. Where did she go? Spike just shrugged it off and recited a phrase he and the Mane 6 (besides Pinkie) had made up: "When it's Pinkie, we don't ask."
Twilight was on the twenty-eighth chapter of her book as the sound of a metal object striking wood broke her long focus and forced her to look up to see what it was. Pinkie was setting her platter of cupcakes upon Twilight's end table. "Hey Twilight Whatcha doin'?" She asked happily with that warm, loving smile only Pinkie could posses. "Oh, just reading this book I haven't read yet." Twilight responded as she marked her book and closed it. "What's this, Pinkie?" Pinkie picked up the platter with her mouth again and held it out at Twilight. "CMMCMMKES!!" (CUPCAKES!) Twilight smiled, but shook her head at the offering. "Sorry Pinkie, it's a bit too early for sweets for me." Pinkie's ears drooped down but picked up almost as instantly as she simply replied: "Mkmm!" (Okay!) Twilight sat back down near her book and looked back over at Pinkie... who wasn't there. "*Sigh*, When it's Pinkie we don't ask..."
Pinkie woke up bright and happy as usual with her big happy grin stretching from ear to ear as she said "Good morning Gummy!" to her pet alligator and walked down the stairs into the Cakes' kitchen. It was only five in the morning, so there she didn't expect anyone to be up and about, which meant she had to be silent to ensure that she didn't wake the Cakes' or their children. However that wasn't going to stop her her from trying out a few new cupcake recipes to share with the residents of Ponyville. She preheated the oven and whipped together this new batter she had never made before in hopes that she wasn't doing anything wrong, but she wasn't in the least worried since she had years of baking experience behind her. She slipped the uncooked treats into the oven and close the door, looking out at the morning light steadily creeping across the land Equestria and into the window she stood by. She let out a relaxed sigh. It was really this time of day in which she felt.. calm. But her natural impatience caught up with her as she couldn't wait any longer for the sun to rise and spread its light completely across the land. She turned the temperature on the oven down a bit, before closing her eyes and focusing her secret power across the flow of time and reality forcing herself forward into a future existence. She opened her eyes and looked up at the clock near the door of Sugar Cube Corner, which read 9:34. She smiled gleefully at her success and skipped back over to the oven and opened it up to find twenty-five perfectly baked cupcakes ready to be shared among her friends. She let the platter cool a little before clutching it in her mouth and joyously bouncing out the door and into town.
She spread her delicious treats throughout Ponyville, pulling herself through various holes in the fabric of reality to make good time so the cupcakes wouldn't cool before they were all given out to her of her friends. When there was only four cupcakes left, she made her way down the path that lead to Twilight's library. She stopped and looked at the distance between her and the library. Focusing on the large tree, she found a plain in which it was much closer. She closed the distance, only needing to walk a total of four feet to reach Twilight's door. She knocked on the door a few times before Spike answered it. "Hm, Spmmk! wmmnm cmmpmcke?" she asked gleefully. Spike smiled and took one of the cupcakes. As he did so, Pinkie looked up towards the stairs, already knowing where Twilight was, she took a few steps back into her room. She chuckled to herself as she heard the confused Spike close the door downstairs. She set the cupcakes down on the end table near Twilight's bed, attracting the young purple unicorn's attention. "Whatcha, doin'?" Pinkie asked as Twilight got up from her reading area. "Oh, just reading some books I haven't read yet." Twilight responded. She looked down at Pinkie's platter. "What's this, Pinkie?" Twilight asked. Pinkie once again picked up the platter in her mouth and held it out at Twilight. "CMMPCMMKES!" Pinkie said happily. Sadly Twilight turned down her offer claiming that it was too far early for cupcakes. Pinkie didn't mind. As Twilight sat back down, Pinkie tilted the platter to drop a cupcake gently on the end table before focusing her energy forward and bouncing off into the grass outside, where she made her way to Lyra and Bon Bon's house, the destination of the last two cupcakes.
