Chap1: Some apples DO fall far from the tree.
Do you remember the day you were born? I'm sure Applebloom doesn't. But her older brother and sister do. One of their fondest memories was the day Applebloom was born. For more than one reason though. Want to know what that other reason is? Then listen to my story and you will learn that in Equestria, everypony (or should I say everyONE) is considered family.
March 15, 100X-Sweet Apple Acres farm house.
In the master bedroom of the farm-house, Mrs. Apple was giving birth to a foal.
"C'mon on darlin, she's almost out." A mare by the name of Granny Smith said helping her daughter in delivering the foal.
Meanwhile in the living room, Big Macintosh and her little sister Applejack were waiting for their mother and grandmother.
"Aw, c'mon. Wha in the world can they be doin in ther? Does it really take that long to deliver a foal?" Applejack asked impatiently.
"Eeyup. Ah, suppose so." Big Macintosh replied bored. The two sat in the room when it started raining. Neither one of them seemed to notice. Then, the door upstairs creaked open and Granny Smith's voice called out.
"I'm comin down, children." Granny Smith said as she opened the door more. Applejack and Big trotted to the base of the stairs to watch. Granny Smith walked down balancing a basket on her back. She finally made it to the table in the center of the living room and placed the basket on it then walked away with her head down. Applejack lifted the blanket off the basket, revealing the newborn foal.
"AWWW" Applejack and Big Macintosh cooed in unison.
"She's adorable, Granny Smith." Applejack said then looked around the room. "But, where ma?" She asked curiously. Granny Smith was crying for some reason. "Granny? Why are you cryin?" She asked walking up to the mare.
"Ah-Ah'm sorry little ones, but yer mother..... died givin birth to yer little sister here." Granny Smith tried to explain to the young ponies without getting too emotional. The two pre-teen ponies gasped and small streams of tears began flowing from their eyes. "Ah guess it was too much fer her." Granny Smith finished her explanation and wiped her eyes.
"But, then... Ma's dead, and pa's also dead. Who's gonna take care of us?" Big Mac asked his grandmother, tears still running down the colt's face..
"Well Ah am of course, Ah may not be as young anymore but Ah can still raise ye like y'all were my own." Granny Smith said walking to her grand foals and pulled them in for a hug to try and comfort them. Then the sound of crying rang out. "Oh dear, the little one's cryin." Granny Smith said turning to the foal. Only to notice that she was asleep. "Wha? But, where's that cryin comin from?" The cries were coming from outside. Big Mac was the first to run out to find the source with Applejack close behind. They followed the cries to the nearest side of the barn next to a bail of hay. The two found a wad of cloth leaning against the hay.
"WAAAAHH!" They heard coming from the wad.
"Let's bring it in. Poor critter must be cold." Applejack said as she helped her brother hold the crying creature in cloth.
The cloth was brought inside and was set next to the foal's basket. The three older ponies untangled the cloth to find....something in the mix. "What in Equestria is that?" Applejack asked alarmed. The creature had no fur, no hooves, small ears, and no tail.
"Don't look like a foal." Big Mac said. He looked to find a paper stuck in the blankets the thing was wrapped in. He took it out and looked at it, then he gave it to Granny Smith.
"Says here, A new human baby. Johnny." Granny Smith read. "What in tarnation? Human baby? Who's Johnny?" She asked bewildered.
"Maybe a human baby is what he is, and Johnny is his name ah guess." Applejack suggested looking closer at the baby. The baby had stopped crying and sat up. He crawled to the basket and looked inside. "Hey! Stay away...." Applejack said about to push the baby away thinking he was going to do something to her new sister. Then Big Mac held her back. The baby reached in and touched the foal. The yellow foal woke up and looked back at the baby. The two newborns smiled at each other.
"Ah think they like each other." Big Mac said.
"Sure do. But we can't just leave this...human in the rain." Granny Smith said. "Why don't we take him in?" Granny Smith asked her grand foals.
"Really? Won't that be a little weird seein that he...ain't a pony?" Applejack asked.
"Now we don't look at what he is wiper-snapper. He's in need and we found him. He's our responsibility." Granny Smith said.
"Ah'm okay with the idea, Ah wanted a younger brother anyway." Big Mac agreed.
"Sure, me too, it might be fun." Applejack said.
"Well then, welcome to the family you two." Granny Smith smiled as the two newborns giggled to one another.
Over the next few days, Mrs. Apple was buried next to her husband and the whole Apple family showed up for the funeral. While there, Johnny was introduced to the whole farmer family as Johnny Appleseed, and his sister was named Applebloom. The whole family welcomed both newborns but paid more attention to Johnny then Applebloom for obvious reasons. The entire family was rather curious to see how such a strange creature ended becoming one of theirs. But in the end they all accepted him and proud to have him be part of the family.
When they grew older, Applebloom and Johnny were taken to Ponyville. The towns folk were bewildered at the sight of Johnny. No pony had seen such a creature before. It took some time but the citizens of Ponyville became accustomed to seeing the growing boy in their town. Even Princess Celestia had come to the town to see them. She gave them both a special blessing and wished them nothing but happiness. But she still seemed curious about Johnny and once she returned to Canterlot, she began work on investigating more about him and his kind.
Over the years Johnny became the second tallest member of the family. Slightly taller than Applejack but shorter than Big Mac. He also began working on the farm and soon became rather strong for some one his age, and was able to talk in complete sentences from listening to the rest of his family. He developed a southern accent (much like how the rest of the Apple Family had) and became accustomed to the farming atmosphere.
Applebloom and Johnny began to attend school and made several friends and learned many things. And out in Ponyville the town knew well of Johnny and always welcomed him as if he himself was pony. But inspire of all of that, he felt strange around these ponies, he felt different.
We continue our story 7 years later.
"Applebloom! Johnny! Time fer school!" Applejack yelled out.
"Comin sis!" Applebloom and Johnny responded running down the stairs from their room. Applejck handed them both lunch bags and their ran out the door. Both grabbed an apple of the trees and continued on their way to the school.
"Last one there's a rotten apple!" Johnny challenged as he ran faster.
"No fair! You got a head start. Ah can't beat you if yer gonna cheat!" Applebloom yelled out sarcastically. She speed up and passed her brother in a matter of seconds.
"Aww. Ya tricked me...again!" Johnny acknowledged laughing. The two continued running through the orchard out to the streets of Ponyville. "Hi Mr. and Mrs. Cake!" He waved to the Cake family. "Hi Ditzy Doo! I hope you and Carrot Top get your roof fixed." He said too the cross eyed pegasus who was currently eating a muffin.
They made it to the school house just in time and sat it to their desks. In order to compensate for Johnny's height a special desk was made for him and he was also given different school supplies such as an actual back pack (instead of a saddle bag).
"Okay class." The teacher pony Ms. Cheerilee spoke. "I'll take attendance then we'll begin todays lesson. Ahem,...Applebloom?" The students responded with "here" when called. "Chowder?, Diamond Tiara?, Dinkie Doo?, Featherweight?, Johnny?, Scootaloo?, Silverspoon?, Snails?, Snips? Sweetie Belle?, Twist?.... Good everypony is here." Cheerilee said happily. "Let us begin."
(YEAH! I alphabetically listed them! Buck yes!)
At lunch, Johnny would eat with the Cutie Mark Crusaders in their usual spot. It was late in the lunch period and all was going well until a certain duo of fillies walked to them. "Oh look, the blank flanks and the freak are eating their lunch." Diamond Tiara mocked.
"Leave us alone you guys." Scootaloo said defensively.
"Yeah and mah brother ain't a freak!" Applebloom defended her brother.
"Yeah he is, he looks nothing like a pony, doesn't walk like us or even act like us. He's different, and he's weird." Diamond Tiara insulted, her friend Silver Spoon nodded in agreement.
"Sh-shut-up Diamond Tiara. Y-you're just jealous cuz I get more attention then you!" Johnny said sniffling.
"Yeah. You're jealous because Johnny is more popular and way cooler than you!" Sweetie Belle proclaimed.
"Pft. Like I'd be jealous of any of you." Diamond Tiara retorted.
Then Cheerilee called out to the kids. "Time for class again kids. Come back in please." She called out making sure everypony heard her.
All of the students went back to the school house but Johnny himself hesitated. 'Guh what am I kidding, she's right. I am different, I wish she could just forget that and leave me alone.' Johnny thought to himself then hurried in. He tried to hold back tears.
There were five minutes left in class and Cheerliee was lecturing about the different species of creatures in Equestria.
'Oh I don't want to hear about this!' Johnny cried in his head. Suddenly he was poked by Sweetie Belle whom handed him a paper. She pointed to a filly with a puffy red mane sitting in the second to front row. He opened it and read. "I really like you, meet me at the front gate." He looked up at the filly and noticed she was waving at him. Hesitantly he waved back.
"Oh! Well that's it my little ponies, I'll see you next week." Cheerilee said erasing the board. Every pony walked out of the schoolhouse, but the Cutie Mark Crusaders walked to Johnny's desk to see what was going on.
"What's that bro?" Applebloom asked.
"I think Twist wants to see me at the front gate right now." He replied.
"Well ah won't keep ya waitin. I'll tell sis that you'll be home later." She said to her brother walking out the door. Johnny gathered his things and quickly walked out. He saw Twist standing near the gate like she promised, she waved again.
'Just be nice, make it quick.' Johnny reminded himself. He had never heard of anypony having a crush on him, and never really expected it. He was curious to see what Twist would say.
"Hi Johnny! he he." She greeted cheerfully and giggled.
"Um..uh..Hi Twist." He responded.
"I wasth justh wondering iff you would lihke tah go to Shurgur Cube Cornerhs. Would you?" She asked. Jonny thought.
'Is she doin what I think she's doing? Big Mac told me about stuff like this. Is she askin me out... on a date?' Johnny thought to himself. He didn't really like to hang out with Twist, but he did know that she was good and friendly pony. 'Well, she.. is kinda cute. And maybe she's just being really friendly.' "Okay sure, but... tomorrow. I need to go home right away for something."
"Oh, okay. Tomorrow then." Twist confirmed then walked away. "Bye!" She waved to him. He followed far behind her and walked to Sweet Apple Acres.
Applebloom and Johnny always did their homework on Friday instead of waiting until Sunday. They were about to finish their math when some pony called from the living room. They got up and walked downstairs. The living room was dark and no pony seemed to be there. Suddenly the lights turned on. "SURPRISE!!!!" A group of ponies yelled. Johnny and Applebloom shrank back from the surprise. The mane six, Apple family, and the cutiemark crusaders were there.
"Wow! What a surprise!" Applebloom yelled out.
"Happy 7th birthday you two." Applejack said hugging them both.
"HURRAY! PARTY TIME!" The super-active pony Pinkie Pie cheered and bounced around.
Everypony was having a great time. The cake was magically delicious, upbeat music played all night and good friends were able to spend time with one another. But now it was time for everyone's favorite part of a birthday party.
"Time fer yer presents!" Granny Smith called out to the birthday boy and filly. The two of course ran straight toward the group of party attendees.
"Alright, first up is Applebloom." Applejack said as her little sister walked up to the presents. Appleblom received some arts-and-crafts kits that she would use to build different things, clothes, some bits and a book on cutiemarks. "Johnny, yer turn." Applejack said. Johnny walked up to the gifts and opened each one. The first one really got his attention.
"WOW! Thanks Pinkie Pie!" He took out the gift Pinkie had bought him. It was a racoon-skin cap.
"Yeah I know. Remember? It was last week and you were all... Oh wait! Silly me, how bout we have a flashback?" She asked. (Que wavy screen)
A week earlier, Johnny and the mane six were walking around Ponyville's shopping district. They were passing by a hat store when something caught Johnny's eye. He looked at the mannequin head and saw upon it the cap he received. "Whoa. Doesn't it look cool!?"
Johnny asked tugging his sister's tail.
"It sure do little bro, but we'll look at it more later, we got other stuff to do." She said continuing her stroll with her friends.
"And so I got that hat for ya likity-split and here you go! Exactly 7 days, 3 hours, 12 minutes and 43..44..45..46..47..48" Pinkie explained... then counted the seconds passing by. Johnny put it on and walked toward the front of the room to show the group.
"How do I look?" Johnny asked adjusting his new cap.
"It looks really nice on you." Fluttershy complimented.
"Makes ya look more like an adult if ah do say so mahself." Big Mac said.
"I really like your hat!" Sweetie Belle cheered.
"Simply smashing darling, it even matches your shirt." Rarity gleefully complimented.
"Thank ya Pinkie! It looks so cool on me! I'm always gonna wear it!" Johnny announced.
"Oh I feel horrible for the poor thing that they made that cap out of." Fluttershy said quietly. Johnny was the only one that heard her say that.
"If it makes ya feel uncomfortable Fluttershy, I'll only wear it on special occasions then." Johnny promised and also apologized for making her feel uncomfortable.
"Oh no! It's fine, please wear it... if you want of course." Fluttershy responded taking back what she said. Johnny only nodded and put it back on and proceeded on to unwrapping the rest of his gifts. In the end Johnny received new clothes, some bits and a set of weights.
Later on that night after everypony went home, Applebloom and Johnny were about to go to bed when Johnny asked Applebloom a rather odd question.
"No way Johnny. Ah don't think yer weird. Why'd ya ask that?" She inquired.
"W-well. It's about what Diamond Tiara said." He explained.
"What about it? She's been tellin ya that stuff fer years and only now it's botherin ya?" Applebloom asked confused.
"Well, I've been thinking and..."
"Nothin! Alright? You got family 'nd friends that love you very much. And I for one do not care what excuse you come up with, yer still my brother!" Applebloom tried encouraging her brother. Johnny sat in his bed and thought.
'She's right, I shouldn't be worried. But I still have another problem...' Johnny remembered. "Uh.. another thing... Twist asked me to go with her to Sugar Cube Corners tomorrow. What do you think I should do?" He asked her.
"OOoooh! you like her don't ya?" Applebloom teased.
"Wha? No! That's a stupid thing ta assume. She just asked me if I wanted to go." Johnny clarified.
"Well, go ahead and go. If ya don't want it to be a date, then just go as a friend." Applebloom suggested.
"That sounds like a good idea, thanks sis." He thanked her and laid in his bed. The two slept in a bunk bed and Johnny was on the bottom. "Night sis."
"Night bro, see ya tomorrow." She said and began to drift off to sleep. Johnny on the other hand continued to think about the next day.
'I'll just see how it goes, and who knows? Maybe I'll like it.' Johnny drifted off to sleep.
I am over whelmed! I have a billion fics I plan to do and I only have a few up. GAH!
Anyways yay. A rather interesting human in equestrian fic. Please make sure to comment, I like it when ya'll favorite and watch and stuff. But what I really like are reviews. So yeah, please and thanks. Hope tah see y'all soon. And make sure to check out my major project,Fallen Angel . Thanks again.
P.S. The story may seem too fast paced but I did it this chapter for a reason. Kinda like in the beginning of Dragon Ball Z Kai when it explains Goku's life as a kid and what happened through his adulthood. Trust me, I'll expand it further on as the story goes. Anyways thanks for understanding.
P.S.S. Though it may have sounded like this might be a DMZ/MLP Xover. It's not!
The sun rose up again as usual and filled the air with light and warmth. One of the first to feel it was Johnny. Johnny awoke with a yawn and a scratch to his eye. He got off his bed and looked up to Applebloom's bed. "Sleep tight sis. I'll be back in a moment." Johnny said and tip toed out of their room. At this time Big Mac was already awake and Applejack was barely getting up. Rarely did Johnny ever wake up this early, but something inside him made him want to get up. "Well no point in slouchin around." Johnny said to himself and walked to the bathroom. He did his daily routine of bathing and such and walked out to find his brother.
"Hey Johnny! What're ya doin up this early?" Big Mac asked.
"Oh uh. I don't know bro. I just came out to see if I could help. Can I?" Johnny asked eagerly.
"Alright, take these baskets of apples 'nd put em in the cart there. Ah'm makin a delivery at noon. You can come then too if ya want." Big Mac suggested.
"Okay I need to..." Johnny remembered his little 'meet up' with Twist. "I need to.. meet a friend in Ponyville around that time anyway." Johnny explained and began lifting apple baskets.
"How'd ya like yer party yesterday?" Big Mac asked.
"I loved it! Pinkie once again did more than her best." Johnny answered excitedly.
"And ah see yer wearin that coon-skin cap of yers again."
"Yep. Never takin it off." Johnny said lifting another basket.
Of all the days Johnny had worked, this by far was his busiest day. Big Mac and Johnny had finished the day's quote early and decided to kick back for a few hours.
"So Johnny, who ya meetin in town later?" Big Mac asked. Johnny became nervous, he didn't know what to say.
"Well... uh.. I'm meeting with... Spike today." Johnny answered. Which WAS truthful, he had to meet him that day anyway.
"Now Johnny, remember that Applejack is the Element of Honesty. She'll know if yer lyin or not. Ya wanna tell her what ya told me?" Big Mac asked.
"Ugh! Okay fine. I'm going to Sugar Cube Corners with Twist." Johnny answered.
"So? Why were ya tryin to hide that?" Big Mac wondered why Johnny was so afraid to admit what he was going to do.
"Well, at first when she asked me I thought she was.... asking me on a date." Johnny explained.
"Oh Ah see. Well don't ya worry. It's like Ah told ya, 'If a girl ever asks ya on a date, no matter who, just say yes 'nd be polite. And if ya don't like it, don't go on another one.' Ya never wanna be rude to a filly Johnny." Big Mac reminded Johnny.
"Yer right. Thanks bro." Johnny said putting his cap over his eyes to block out the sun. The two continued to siesta next to the barn the next hour.
Big Mac walked into Ponyville town square while Johnny was riding in the cart of apples. Big Mac stopped and turned his head to face his brother. "Alright Johnny. Go on ahead and see if ya can find yer friend." Big Mac said to his little brother.
"Thanks bro, see ya later." Johnny said while jumping out of the cart. He walked up to his brother and hugged him. Then he ran up to Sugar Cube Corners and found Twist waiting for him there.
"Hi Johnny! I see you came as you promished." Twist said bouncing up and down. Johnny watched her still feeling uneasy about the "date".
"Yeah... well here I am! Um... should we.. go inside?" Johnny asked and opened the door for Twist.
"Thanks." Twist said and galloped in. Johnny followed behind her and watched Twist walk up to the pastry display. Suddenly Pinkie Pie hopped out from behind the counter next to Twist.
"HIYA TWIST!" She happily greeted then turned her head to see Johnny walk in. "Heya Johnny! What brings you two in here?"
"We're gonna eat here! Together." Twist answered while looking at Johnny with a dreamy look.
"Oooh! You mean like a date?" Pinkie asked. Johnny stopped in his tracks at hearing Pinkie's question.
"Well...uh.... I guess... yes..." Johnny answered weakly while blushing.
"Aren't you two a bit young to date though?" Pinkie questioned.
"Why yes, yes we are." Twist responded looking back at Pinkie.
"Well it's good to see a boy and a filly spending quality time together. What would you guys like to have?" Pinkie asked.
"What do you want Johnny?" Twist asked. The last time Johnny came to Sugar Cube Corners it was a few months ago and for a party of Pinkie's. He didn't really know what was on the menu. He looked up at said menu.
'I want to hurry this "date" up and get it over with. What'll be the fastest to eat or drink?' Johnny thought while skimming over the menu. "Oh um.. how bout a milkshake?" Johnny decided and asked Twist.
"Okay! A cheocolate milksheake please." Twist requested.
"Okie dokie lokie. Your order will be out in a minute." Pinkie confirmed and led the two to an outside table. There were two chairs already there and one of them was made specifically for Johnny. Almost all businesses in Ponyville were required to have them now. The two sat down and waited about 20 seconds when Pinkie showed up out of nowhere again. "Here ya go. One super delicious chocolatey milkshake and on the house."
"Really?" Johnny asked in a surprised tone. "Why? I have enough bits to pay for it."
"Nope. It's okay. Just for you two lovebirds." Pinkie Pie said. Johnny blushed at hearing this. Pinkie left the shake on the table, put two straws in it and bounced away leaving Johnny and Twist to their dessert.
"Sho? Ya wanna have the first drink?" She asked.
"Nah. Um, ladies first." Johnny said motioning to her to drink some of the shake. She did so and continued looking at him. Johnny tried to think of some thing to start a conversation. "Uh..um..so how'd ya like that lesson about the different species of animals in Equestria that Ms. Cheerliee gave yesterday?" Johnny asked.
"I learned a lot! But I think you didn't, were you crying yeshterday?" She asked.
"NO!" Johnny yelled out. Twist shrank back. "S-sorry, I just don't like thinking about that." Johnny apologized.
"Oh. Okay I'm shorry, but you wanna take a drink now?" Twist asked forgetting the previous subject.
"Yeah..sure." Johnny said and leaned forward to put the straw in his mouth. After he began sipping the drink, Twist joined back in the drinking. Their eyes were now aligned with one another.
Johnny stopped drinking and flinched back. "Whoa Twist what do ya think yer doin?" Johnny asked in a scared tone.
"Shorry. I just love the way your eyesh look." Twist admitted with a dreamy look on her face. Johnny blushed again.
'UGH! I gotta hurry this up!' Johnny thought to himself and went back to drinking.
(One milkshake later)
"Oh Johnny, thish wash sho musch fun!" Twist said excitedly.
"I-I-I'm glad ya liked it... uh.. well I have to go and find my sister... now. So.. bye." Johnny tried to excuse himself and turned around to walk away.
"Wait!" Twist called. Johnny stopped and looked back at Twist. "I made thish for you." She said handing him a large candy cane. It was about a foot long and a half an inch thick.
"Wow! This looks really good! Thanks Twist, I'll eat some of it later." Johnny said to her.
"You're welcome! I hope we can do thish again." Twist said battering her eyes lids. Johnny gulped and gave an awkward smile. "Bye!" She said to him before galloping away.
Johnny shook his head and watched her. He then looked down at the candy cane. "Wow... she made this really well. That is her talent after all." Johnny said to himself. "Now that I think about it I wonder what MY talent is." Johnny began heading toward the orchard.
"What about... cider chuggin?" Applebloom suggested. The CMCs were doing what they always did. Discussing what they're special talent could be.
"We're too young for that. How bout cow-tipping?" Scootaloo asked.
"Nah. Big Macintosh said we weren't allowed to do that." Applebloom sai
"Geez... we've doing this for so long we're actually running out of ideas." Sweetie Belle spoke up.
"Oh she's right! Seriously, cow-tipping? What kind of talent is that?" Scootaloo retorted.
"Ah think we should just give up. We're never gonna get our cutie marks. We've done everythin possible and nothins happened." Applebloom admitted. Suddenly the sound of foot steps approached. "That sounds like Johnny."
"What? How can you tell?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Do ordinary hooves sound like that? That's the sound of feet." Applebloom explained.
And like Applebloom predicted, Johnny came running up the steps into the tree house.
"Hi guys!" Johnny said.
"Hi Johnny." The CMCs said in unison.
"You all doin the usual stuff?" Johnny asked about their discussions.
"Not anymore. We give up." Sweetie Belle said sadly.
"We're gonna be blank flanks fer the rest of our lives!" Applebloom cried out.
"What? Oh c'mon guys! Don't be like that. I bet there's a bunch of stuff y'all haven't tried yet." Johnny tried to motivate the three fillies. The three continued to stare at the table with sad expressions. Johnny tried to think of something. "Oh! I was just gonna go ta Twilight's to find Spike. I wanted to play that new game I made with him." Johnny spoke. "Wanna come?"
"What game was that again?" Applebloom asked.
"Baseball." Johnny reminded.
"Hey yeah! We haven't tried that yet!" Scootaloo exclaimed.
"Yeah let's do it!" Sweetie Belle agreed.
"Cutie Mark Crusader BASEBALL PLAYERS!" The three cheered in unison. "Let's go!"
(one walk to the library later)
"Oh hey guys! Sup Johnny? Ready to go?" Spike asked.
"Yep, and the girls are gonna play too." Johnny explained.
"Let me guess, Cutie marks?" Spike asked.
"Cutie marks." Johnny replied.
"That's cool, let's go. Twilight! I'm goin to the park with Johnny! See you later." Spike said and closed the door behind him.
The four walked to the large park of Ponyville. There the wide open and green fields were all they need to play the game of baseball. Rarely would it be played though. Johnny hadn't really convinced anypony to take part in it but he did usually manage to catch their interest. And to further matters only beings with thumbs or magic could play. Running with three legs and focusing on catching a ball, or hitting said ball would be rather difficult (not to mention painful) if you used your mouth or hooves.
The game started and Spike was first to bat. The CMCs decided to be outfield catchers to test their abilities in catching. Several ponies gathered to watch as the game "kicked off". (get it? See.. I made a sports pun..baseball and football...8D). "Here's the heater Spike!" Johnny warned as he threw the ball. Spike readied the bat and swung it. +BANG+ The ball flew off into the sky. It was close to hitting Rainbow Dash.
"HEY! WATCH IT! I'm flying here!" She said as the ball zipped passed her.
The ball began to fldall and it was right in range of the CMCs. The crowd stared as it flew up and as it fell back. The CMCs were getting into position to catch the ball.
"I got it!" They all said. The ran to the same point to catch the ball but unfortunately +SLAM+ they ran into each other. The ball fell on to the patch of grass next to them. The crowd gasped as the saw what happened to the CMCs.
"Okay, now we've done everything." Scootaloo said in a disappointed mood. They didn't even bother with batting.
Another interesting yet disappointing day went by. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo went to their homes and Spike went back to the library. Now it was time for Johnny and Applebloom to head home. Applebloom was still sad about her cutie mark and held her head down. Johnny had to do something to cheer her up. "Uh sis. You okay?" He asked with concern.
"No Ah ain't alright!" Applebloom wined. "We're never gonna get our cutie marks! Never!" She cried out.
"Well hey, at least YOU have a chance at getting one. I don't think I'm ever gonna get one of my own." Johnny pointed out.
"THAT'S BECAUSE YER NOT A PONY! Ya can't get one unless yer a pony!" Applebloom retorted.
'Oh there it is again. Even my own sister has to bring it up.' Johnny thought. He looked down the road and saw that the farm-house wasn't too far. "Can we just go home? Maybe you can talk ta Applejack or Big Macintosh." Johnny suggested.
"O-okay. Ah will." She replied wiping her tears. The two continued down the road to their home and found their family in the living room. Applebloom and Johnny explained the whole predicament to them.
"Don't y'all worry none sugar cube. Yer favorite brother 'nd sister are here ta help. Johnny why don't you go on up to bed? We're gonna talk ta Applebloom here for a bit." Applejack said while she comforted her sister.
"Okay good night." He said to them and walked to his room. He put Twist's candy cane on his night stand and thought about today. Today seemed exhausting for him. He went on his first date, and watched as his sister and friends made a life changing decision. Johnny was close to falling asleep when he heard Applebloom's voice in his head.
'THAT'S BECAUSE YER NOT A PONY! Ya can't get one unless yer a pony!' Her voice echoed in his head. He sat up once more and looked outside his window. The moon was full and bright and the whole orchard was visible from his window.
"What can I do? I'm great friends with almost everypony but... at the same time.... I feel so distant? What do I gotta do to stop that feeling?" Johnny asked himself as he pondered this.
Such a quick update. Anyways. I want to thank all of you for your feedback. And again getting featured on your first day is awesome! I tried to expand a bit more and get more emotion in there but I'll leave it up to you all to see how it was. I planned out the next few chapters so expect more updates of this really soon. I hope you all enjoy and thanks again. See y'all later!
P.S. Is this chapter shorter than the last one? WTH? Oh well. And remember people! THEY ALL HAVE ACCENTS!
Reader take note...
Yes this is not a chapter and I already posted this in blog so don't tell me that this belongs in my blog widget.
Alright maggots listen up. I've been receiving TOO much AND I MEAN TOO FREAKING MUCH FLAK ABOUT MY FICTIONS! SO YOU KNOW WHAT I'M GONNA DO!
I'm gonna start a poll RIGHT NOW!
Anyways, lots of people having been saying that Born and raised in Equestria is too fast paced, and after some consideration....(and watching Dragon Ball) I have just become BRILLIANT! Now here's what I want to know.
Should I stop production on the current story line and start talking more about his infant hood or should I just continue on as it is. To tell you the truth I already have it all planned out.
1. Johnny was going to give up on dating Twist at some point.
2. Johnny was supposed to be bullied by some pony other than Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.
3. Braeburn was gonna be in it.
If this goes through, I'll start the start writing about the days after the birth up till Johnny and Applebloom started attending school. I'VE GIVEN ENOUGH SPOILERS ALREADY!
Yes or no? YOU DECIDE!
What I mean is, I have come to a solution. It's gone 50/50 on the backstory thing, so here's what I'll do. Chap 3: The colt's guide to making trouble.
FINALLY! After teasers and blogs, a full fledged chapter. I dislike school and getting sick, TWICE. But now I'm back and ready to f*&% some s*&$ up! Uh.... sorry.
As the sun rose on the delightful day of Sunday, Johnny hesitated to get up. It wasn't like yesterday when he was up and at it and ready for the rest of the day. He couldn't even get his eyes open. But eventually he was able to and got up out of his bed groggily. He stepped down off his bed and on to the wooden floors. He turned to find Applebloom still asleep. A bump from the baseball game was still on her head. When he was abut to walk out of the room she woke up.
"Mornin bro. What're ya doin?" She asked him in tired tone.
"Ah nothin. I'm gonna go to the bathroom then I'll come back to bed." He responded.
"Alright. Ah'm gonna find Applejack." She said crawling out from the covers.
"Oh yeah, how was yer talk yesterday?" Johnny asked feeling more awake.
"Ah still think gettin a cutie mark is impossible." She explained. "Oh, and sorry about all that 'yer not a pony' stuff from last night."
"It's okay sis. You were havin a bad is all." Johnny reassured her. "And besides it's true. I'm not a pony. And cutie marks aren't the things that make you special. It's you yourself."
"Since when were you a philosopher?" Applebloom asked while giggling.
"Since that day you and the other crusaders dressed up like Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash and pretended to be them the whole day." Johnny chuckled out.
"Hey! That was a great idea and you know it! At least now we know that we don't have a talent in impersonating... or flirtin for that matter. " Applebloom said while blushing.
"Hey I think you and Caramel make a great couple." He joked.
"Har har! Very funny. Just go take yer bath already." Applebloom said while slamming a pillow on her face.
"Okay. See ya." Johnny said heading toward the bathroom.
The sun was high up now and it was the beginning of a perfect Sunday afternoon. Johnny was planting seeds for their corn crop when something caught his attention. An apple tree with flowers on it, and it was the only tree surrounded by a fence. That tree had been there for years and Johnny had no idea what it was for. Applejack was walking by when she noticed this.
"Hey little bro. What're ya lookin at?" She asked with curiosity.
"Applejack, what makes that tree so special that it gets a fence and none of the others do? And how come we don't pick any apples from it?" Johnny asked.
"Well ya see sugar cube. This here's the last tree that our pa planted before he died." Applejack explained. "Granny Smith says we should think of it as a reminder of him."
"Wow. I never would've guessed that. Then again I never met pa." Johnny said.
"Ah'm sure he'd be proud of you Johnny." Applejack said before continuing on with her work. Johnny walked up to the tree to look at it more closely. Suddenly he heard some pony calling him.
"HEY JOHNNY! OVER HERE!" A unicorn colt named Snails called out. Johnny ran over to the fence where Snails was.
"Hey Snails. How are ya?" Johnny asked.
"I'm okay. You wanna hang out with us?" Snails invited Johnny to hang out with him and some other classmates.
"I guess so. I'll be right back." Johnny said walking toward Applejack. "Hey sis can I go with Snails into town?" He asked.
"Okay, just be back by sundown alright?" She agreed. Johnny nodded and ran to catch up to Snails.
"So Snails, where are we goin?" Johnny asked.
"I don't know, Snips is the one with the plan." Snails said as they walked toward the town square. "There they are." Snails and Johnny approached two other colts named Snips and Featherweight.
"About time you guys showed up!" Snips yelled out. "C'mon guys we gotta go to the school house."
"Why the schoolhouse?" Johnny asked.
"That's where we usually hang out." Featherweight explained.
"Yeah. C'mon let's go." Snips said. The other three followed as he lead them to the school house.
Almost no pony was on the school premises that Sunday. For the next 12 hours the campus belonged to the group of classmates.
"Alright. Here's where we begin the awesomest day ever!" Featherweight cheered.
"First we're gonna look inside the shed in back of the school yard." Snips said. "We've been here for so long and we still don't know what's in there."
"Wait, didn't Ms. Cheerliee tell us not to go in there?" Johnny reminded them.
"So? No pony's here and like it really matters. We're just gonna see what's inside." Snails explained.
"Well I still think we shouldn't do it." Johnny said defending his decision.
"Aw c'mon Johnny don't be like that. It'll only be a minute or two." Snails said trying to convince Johnny.
"Fine." Johnny hesitatingly agreed. The group walked up to the shed in question only to find that the door was locked.
"What now?" Featherweight asked.
"Guess we can't open the shed." Johnny said relieved. Johnny was really obedient when it came to following rules and guidelines. He remembered the first time he had broken a rule set forth by one of his elders.
Back when Applebloom and Johnny had first started attending the schoolhouse, they were both on the lowest parts of the social ladder. Not being widely accepted by their fellow classmates, the two siblings would try to come up with ways to make themselves closer to the in-crowd's standard. From wearing different accessories to changing hair color and hair style, the two only managed to make one friend in that time. Of course Johnny, as much as the others tried to avoid him, actually got a lot of attention.
In Johnny's first few days of school he had felt challenged. Not academically but emotionally. For the first time, Johnny had felt rejected and at the same time accepted. He also felt eager yet at the same time hesitant. But the one emotion that seemed to give him the most trouble, was love. Johnny had obtained his first and, so far, only crush in his 7 year life. His first was on Diamond Tiara. He had admired her neatly groomed mane and how she looked when she wore her tiara. She actually looked cute as a 5-year old filly. But even then she was a spoiled brat.
She knew of Johnny's feelings for her and thought that she could probably use him for her own purposes. "So you want to be my coltfriend Johnny?" She asked him sounding innocent.
"Y-yeah! I really like you Diamond Tiara! I wanted you to be my fillyfriend ever since I first met you!" He said with glee.
"Well then you can. IF you do something for me." She said.
"Anything. What is it?" Johnny inquired.
"Ms. Cherilee took away my favorite bracelet from me. She thought I was interrupting the class because I was showing it off too much. If you get it back for me, you can be my new colt friend." She said to him.
"Wh-what? Won't we get in trouble if I do that?" Johnny asked.
"Don't you want to be my colt friend?" Diamond Tiara asked while nuzzling his leg.
"Uh..okay I will." He sadly replied. Ms. Cherilee was outside talking to another pony when Johnny began his retrieval of the bracelet. He was about to reach into a desk compartment when she walked back in.
"Johnny! What are you doing?" She sternly asked.
"I was just...uh." The whole class besides his sister laughed at the scene, even Diamond Tiara was laughing. (What a pisser).
"Go back to your desk! And I hope you didn't have any plans today because you're going to be stuck in time-out after school." Ms. Cherilee said walking back to her desk. The class continued to laugh as Johnny sat in his desk.
"Never again..." Johnny muffled into his arms as he rested his head in them hiding his shame from everypony.
Never again would he break the rules of the school house.
"I know the keys are inside the school but Ms. Cherilee keeps hiding them in different places." Snips complained.
"Well should we go to the park instead?" Featherweight asked.
"There's nothing to do there." Snails replied. "I wish Trixie was here."
"Why? She was a bad magician. I didn't like her." Johnny spoke.
"Well when she was here, Ponyville was more interesting." Snails retorted.
"What about a game?" Featherweight asked.
"What game could we play?" Snips asked.
"Well how about... eye spy?" Featherweight suggested.
"No." Snails answered.
"OH! How bout Truth or Dare?" Johnny suggested eagerly.
"What? Why?" Snips asked.
"My sister and her friends play it whenever they have sleep overs. It seems like a fun game." Johnny said to them.
"Well I guess we could. We don't have anything else to do." Snails agreed.
"Okay then. I'll go first." Snips volunteered.
"Alright Snips. Truth or dare?" Johnny asked.
"Dare." Snips quickly answered.
"I dare you to..." Johnny tried to think of a good dare. "Go into the school house and write something about Ms. Cherilee on the chalkboard." Johnny said finishing his dare.
"What!? B-but..." Snips cowered.
"If you don't you lose." Featherweight spoke.
"Alright! But what do I write?" He questioned.
"Nothing insultin or anything. Just as long as she's able to see tomorrow." Johnny clarified. Snips got up and walked up to the door. He walked in and found a piece of chalk on Cherliee's desk. After thinking about what to write, Snips took the chalk and began writing.
About a minute later, Snips walked out.
"About time." Snails spoke out.
"What'd you write?" Johnny inquired.
"You'll see tomorrow." Snips said waving them off. "Y'know what... let's go to the park." Snips suggested.
"Alright then never mind. Let's get outta here before some pony sees us." Johnny said as they proceeded to walk towards the park.
Later on in the park the four friends continued their game of Truth or Dare. "Alright Snips, you ask some pony else if THEY want truth or dare." Johnny explained.
"Okay! Um.. Snails! Truth or Dare?" Snips asked.
"Dare." Snails answered.
"Okay then I dare you to..." Snips looked around and saw a lemon tree not to far from him. "OH! I dare you to eat one of those lemons." Snips finished his dare. Snails calmly got up and walked to the lemon tree. He struggled to use his magic to pull one down. eventually he got one and was able to easily peel off the skin. He looked at the other players, then back at the lemon. After a few seconds he slowly placed the fruit in his mouth. We all know what happens when you put a sour fruit in your mouth.
The other laughed as Snails's face twitched from the sour flavor of the citrus he had just consumed. "C-can I gewo now?" Snails tried to ask with his face still twitching
"Of course it's your turn." Johnny answered.
"Kay." Snails calmed down. "Uh.... Featherweight. Truth or dare?"
"Dare." Featherweight answered.
"Well then I dare you to.." Snails noticed the Cutie Mark Crusaders entering the bowling alley not to far from them. Scootaloo had left her scooter outside. "Go ride Scootaloo's scooter." Snails said.
"What? No way! If I break it she'll become furious!" Featherweight spoke out.
"Well it's either that or truth." Snails retorted.
"Fine. Truth then." Featherweight answered.
"Do you know who Spidermane really is? Like his identity and stuff." Snails asked.
'Oh No! I can't let him know my secret identity!' Featherweight thought to himself. He began sweating. "Uh..I don't know...I... never mind! I'll ride Scootaloo's scooter." Featherweight decided.
"Go for it then." Snails said pointing at the scooter. Featherweight walked towards the scooter as fast as he could. When he was finally next to the scooter, he looked around to see if anypony was looking.
"Okay, just really quickly." Featherweight got on the scooter and rapidly flapped his wings to begin accelerating. Of course since Featherweight's wings were more powerful than Scootaloo's he was able to gain more speed more quickly. "A few laps around the Bowling Alley and that's it. Gotta give this back before Scootaloo finds out." Suddenly CRASH! In trying to stop, Featherweight and the scooter flipped over and landed in a bush. Featherweight shook his head and looked at the scooter. "Oh crud! Why?" Featherweight quickly jumped out of the bush and grabbed the scooter. After placing it back in it's original place he ran back to his friends. "C-can we do something else now!?" Featherweight furiously asked.
"Nuh-uh. You gotta ask Johnny what he wants to do." Snails reminded.
"Alright then. You know what to do Johnny." Featherweight said waiting for Johnny to say truth or dare.
"Truth. Go ahead and ask me anything. My family is known for their honesty." Johnny said proudly.
"Kay then this is simple. Do you like Twist?" Featherweight slyly asked. Johnny's eyes narrowed. Snips and Snails stared at Johnny awaiting his answer.
"Really? I don't want to think about!" Johnny retorted.
"C'mon. Just say yes or no. You don't want to lose do you?" Featherweight mockingly asked.
"No." Johnny quickly said.
"Liar!" The three colts accused.
"No! I really don't! What's the point in me telling the truth if you don't even believe it?" Johnny asked while becoming upset. The three colts snickered at Johnny's reaction
"It's alright Johnny. We believe ya." Snips answered. "But let's do something else. This is getting boring." Suddenly there was a yell coming from the bowling alley's direction.
"SCOOTALOO!" Featherweight cried out.
"You're gonna pay for messing up my favorite scooter!" She said as she charged at the pegasus colt.
"Aaaah!!!!" Featherweight yelled out as she ran after him.
Suddenly an idea popped into Snails's head. "Oh guys! I got an idea." He called to his compadres. As he told them his plan, Featherweight continued to be chased down by Scootaloo.
"We're gonna start a war." Snails declared.
"Really? On who?" Snips asked.
"The Cutiemark Crusaders, that's who." Snails answered in a loud voice.
"What! No way! I'm not interacting with Scootaloo in anyway till tomorrow! I've had my share of enraged fillies for one day." Featherweight strongly declined.
"Why? What reason do we have for doin that?" Johnny inquired.
"We're not actually gonna have a war with them. What we're REALLY gonna do is raid their clubhouse... with water balloons!" Snails cheered.
"That sounds fun! I'm in!" Snips accepted the idea.
"Okay, but I'm only gonna watch. Like I said, getting your flank kicked by a filly is hard enough." Featherweight said unenthusiastically.
"Ah why not. Applebloom owes me bits anyway." Johnny joked.
"Okay. To Pinkie Pie's house!" Snails said as he led his troops to their ammunition station.
It was sunset, and the landscape was calm. There was practically no sound except for the sound of giggling fillies. The four members of Team Colt were waiting for their moment to strike. "Okay, the members of Team Filly are in their base. We must attack from out here and work our way in." Snails commanded.
"Are we actually gonna destroy the clubhouse?" Johnny asked in a worried tone.
"No, now look. When they walk out, throw!" Snails yelled out then covered his mouth. The Crusader's voices could be heard from within the club house. Then Team Colt caught sight of its first target. "It's a red! Get her!" Snails hollered and threw a balloon at her. The balloon flew through the air toward Applebloom eventually plopping on to her forehead. To Team Colts' misfortune the balloon ended up simply plopping on the wooden floor. "A dud?" Snails asked disappointed.
"HEY! Ah thought ah heard somethin out here!" Applebloom yelled out. She picked up the still filled up balloon and threw it back. SPLASH.
"SNAILS!" Snips yelled out.
"Guh!" Snails gasped from the shock. "Eh... Snips.... avenge me....." He slowly requested. Snails fainted.
"Snails? Snails!? SNAAAAAAIILS!!!!!" Snips yelled out.
"No.... Applebloom! " Johnny yelled out. "You killed Snails!"
"Wha? Yer kiddin." She said in disbelief.
"You'll pay for that!" He threatened and proceeded to throw another water balloon at his sister. This time, the balloon directly hit its target.
"T'aint fair Johnny! Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo! GET THE HOSE!" Applebloom commanded her team.
"Uh oh! She's brining out the big artillery!" Snips cried out. "Hurry! Fire!" Two of the three remaining members of Team Colt threw more water balloons at the club house. Applebloom lead the other two fillies out to the battlefield.
"We're WATER PROOF!" She yelled out.
"No! We won't give up!" Johnny yelled out. "FOR SNAILS!"
"FOR EQUESTRIA!" Snips hollared. Featherweight, from his earlier encounter with Scootaloo, hid behind the bush in fear.
"Oh I knew I should've stayed at home today." He said to himself. He looked at a water balloon in the box next to him.
"FEATHERWEIGHT! HELP US! WE'RE GETTING FRAGGED OUT HERE!" Johnny yelled out.
"Oh no! My friends! What do I do? What would Daring Do do? What would Spidermane do!? Wait... I AM SPIDERMANE!" Featherweight stood up and grabbed the lone balloon. He looked at it again. "With great power, comes great responsibility, and for me, the choice to lead an ordinary life is no longer an option." He said to himself before aiming at one of the crusaders. He threw the balloon. Guess who the balloon hit.
"AAHHH!" Scootaloo yelled out as she let go of the house and fell to the ground.
"Oh for Celestia's sake. Why her?" Featherweight asked as he stepped out of the bushes. Sweetie Belle let go of the hose and looked at her friend.
"What have we done?" Applebloom asked.
"We lost two of our comrades in this watery battle." Johnny said in a sad tone.
"It was our fault. None of this would have happened if we hadn't started this." Snips apologized.
"Truce?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Truce." Snips said shaking Sweetie Belle's hoof.
"I think you guys are taking this too far." Snails spoke as he limped toward them.
"Yeah seriously guys it was just a water balloon. We weren't actually killed." Scootaloo said raising her head up off the wet grass.
"We know. We're just playing around." Johnny explained.
"Awww." Applebloom said disappointed.
"What's wrong sis?" Johnny asked.
"I still didn't get a 'watery-warfare' cutiemark!" She whined.
"What would that even look like?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Ah don't know...." Applebloom said walking toward the hose. "But who cares. That was fun!"
"It sure was." Snails agreed. "Same time next week?" He asked.
"Totally!" Scootaloo replied then looked at Featherweight. "And Featherweight." She said walking up to the quiet and shivering pegasus. "Nice shot." She said then pecked his cheek. (HAHA see. Because chickens peck...)
Featherweight froze and stared ahead into the empty space in front of him. "I can't feel my legs." He slowly said.
"See you tomorrow guys!" Snails called out.
"Bye guys. Today was fun." Johnny replied. The friends went their separate ways, except for Featherweight who needed to be carried home.
"Well sis, I'm sorry you had another bad day sis." Johnny said as they walked to the house.
"It's okay. Ah know that it's only a matter of time before ah get it." Applebloom said accepting the facts of a filly's life.
"And knowing is half the fun sis. I know you'll get one soon and it'll be the coolest cutiemark ever. Even cooler than Rainbow Dash's." Johnny tried to encourage his sister. The two made it to the porch.
"Well ah don't know about that. But thanks bro. And ah hope... you get one too." Applebloom said. Johnny smiled. "Well Ah'm goin inside. Good night bro." She said and walked inside. Johnny turned around and walked toward his father's tree.
"Uh..hi... pa. I don't know if ya know me since we never met but... I just wanted to say that... even though your just a tree.. at least right now.. I still love you." Johnny said to the tree putting his hand in the leaves of one of the lower branches. "I hope to grow up to be big and strong like you." He looked back to the farm house, the light in his room had just switched off. "Well sweet dreams.. pa." Johnny said and ran into the house to get some rest.
"Hey Johnny. What were ya doing out there with the tree?" Applebloom curiously asked.
"Just sayin good night. That's all." Johnny said as he slipped into the covers. Applebloom shrugged and went back to snuggling under the sheets. "Good night sis."
"Night bro." The two siblings drifted off to sleep. But little did they know that there were rough waters ahead.
HUZZAH! Ah darn it now you have to wait another 1000 years. Don't worry guys. I'll make sure to do better with the announcements and stuff so it doesn't seem like I'm trolling with you. I'm excited this week because Paper Mario:Sticker Star is coming out! YAAAAAAY! So yeah. Anyways I hope I hurry up with this stuff. See ya'll later.
Apple 4: Bully the Bullies
Another school day had dawned upon Johnny and Applebloom and it was time to repeat the morning rituals. Lather and rinse, brush and floss, plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is and so on.
"Okay, let's get to school early so we can see what Snips wrote on the board." Johnny told his sister.
"What do ya mean?" Applebloom asked.
"Yesterday we played Truth or Dare and we dared Snails to write something on the board." Johnny explained.
"Why didn't ya say so? Let's go!" She said and ran ahead. Again the two ran past the fence and into town. They saw all the usual ponies they would see on a daily basis...until. "Hey Johnny! Look!" She called and pointed to one of the houses. There was a moving carriage in front of it. "Guess somepony's movin in." She said.
"Yeah. Must be somepony from Canterlot, I mean look at all that nice stuff." Johnny pointed out the furniture and accessories they were carrying out.
"Hmm, guess we'll find out soon enough. Let's hurry!" Applebloom said and ran toward the school. Johnny followed.
(NOT! April Tricks!)
"Now erase this and write, 'Writing about others' flanks is wrong." Cheerilee spoke loudly.
"Yes Ms.Cheerilee. And, I'm sorry again." Snips apologized then began looking for the eraser. Johnny and Applebloom walked in quietly to see what had happened. Cheerilee was in the back of the room organizing some arts and crafts projects while Snips was erasing the board. The two siblings read the message before it was erased.
It read. "Ms. Cheerilee has a big flank." They gasped and walked back outside. The two covered their mouths to keep their laughter silenced.
"Oh geez. He really is in trouble." Applebloom giggled. Johnny nodded in reply as he calmed down. They went inside and pretended that nothing happened.
The bell tolled signaling that class had begun.
"Alright class. Today is a special day. We're getting a new student!" She cheered while clapping her hooves.
"Hooray!" The whole class, besides Diamond Tiara, cheered.
"And here he is." Cheerilee opened the door more. Walking in was a tall unicorn-colt with grey fur and a yellow mane. He wore ankle bracelets on his fore hooves and had a skull and cross bones for his cutie mark, only the cross bones were guitars. He looked a bit nervous. Suddenly there was knock on the door. "Oh. Well then dear why don't you introduce yourself while I speak with your father." She suggested then walked outside. After she left, the colt faced the class with a blank expression on his face.
"Sup?" He asked.
"Uh what?" Applebloom spoke up.
"Ugh. What's up? Don't any of you know hot to talk?" The colt asked with an annoyed tone.
"Yeah, WE don't don't know how to talk. Mr. Sup." Diamond Tiara retorted sarcastically.
"Alright then, I see how it is. The name's Bass. My dad, Dr. Slyly, and I
moved here from Neigh Jersey. I like music, and I'm really into mechanics." Bass said expressing his interests.
"So it's Bass like in the guitar and not the fish?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Yes. Didn't you hear how I pronounced my name?" Bass became annoyed. Then Ms. Cheerilee walked in.
"Alright Bass. Time for class. Why don't you sit near Johnny in the back." Ms. Cheerliee said as she walked up to the board. Bass rolled his eyes and walked to the back. As he walked he stared at Johnny. He had never heard of Johnny or humans in his life. It was a strange experience for Bass. He finally made it to seat and sat down, his eyes still fixed on Johnny.
Ms. Cheerilee began her lecture. "Ugh.. not math. I hate math." Johnny quietly said. Suddenly he felt some pony poke him. It was Bass. He was pressing his hoof on Johnny's skin. He continued to do this for a few seconds before Johnny snapped away. "Quit it." He assertively requested.
"Why? Whenever I see some thing weird I always poke it to see if it's real. And you dude, are the weirdest thing I've ever seen." Bass explained.
"What? You saying I'm weird?" Johnny started to become angry.
"Yeah I am. You look nothing like a pony. What are you even doing here? What the hay are you?" Bass asked in a rather mocking way.
"Bass! Johnny! Quiet down!" Cheerilee caught their attention. Johnny looked towards the board once again only to be poked be Bass a few times more. Johnny did his best to ignore the physical gestures of annoyance.
"I hate him already." Johnny said with his head held down.
"Why? What'd he do?" Applebloom asked.
"He poked me for the rest of class, kept saying I was weird and he's rude." Johnny described.
"I know! He didn't have to be so negative when I asked him about his name." Sweetie Belle said.
"No!" A voice cried out.
"What was that?" Johnny asked. The voice called again.
"Leave me alone!"
"That sounds like Twist." Applebloom guessed. The four friends got up and ran to the jungle gym. There they saw Twist being corralled by Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, and Bass.
"Shtop!" Twist pleaded. "I jusht want to go on the swings." She coward more.
"See? Told ya she sounded funny." Diamond Tiara pointed out.
"No kidding." Bass said then proceeded to poke Twist's face.
"Girls. Go and get Ms. Cheerilee." Johnny requested with a serious tone.
"What'll you do?" Scootaloo inquired.
"I'm gonna end this." Johnny said and walked toward the three bullies."HEY! Leave her alone!" Johnny yelled out.
"Great. One wierdo after another." Bass spoke and turned his head to face the human. "What do you want? We're just having fun." Bass said with a smirk.
"I want you to leave Twist alone!" Johnny snapped.
"Oooh. Tough guy. Well what'er you gonna do about it? Ya gonna hurt me if I hurt your fillyfriend?" Bass asked Johnny.
"She.. is.. not..my..FILLYFRIEND!" Johnny yelled and charged at Bass who mimicked the same action. Johnny and Bass pounced at one another and tackled each other the ground. Bass continuously tried to buck Johnny in the stomach while Johnny tried to scratch at Bass's face. A large group of school foals had gathered to watch the brawl and could see the struggle in both Bass's and Johnny's expressions. Johnny pinned Bass down to the ground and held a fist to his side incase he needed to beat down into the colt's face.
It seemed that Bass had been beaten, but it wouldn't be so easy for Johnny after what Bass would do next. Using his magic, Bass lifted a patch of dirt from the ground and threw it in Johnny's face. His eyes were becoming watery, both from the dirt and from tears of sadness. "Don't mess with me weirdo. You're tough but I'm way better than you. Wanna know why? Because ponies are better than losers like you... what ever you are." Bass said as he got up. "You're in big trouble when my dad finds out about what you did to me."
"Actually, you're both in trouble." Miss Cheerilee trotted into the ring of ponies. "Johnny, you should know better than to take such measures to solve your problems, and Bass, you need to learn to be kinder and more respectful toward your classmates. Now follow me!" She said in a commanding voice. The two fighters complied and followed behind her into the class room.
After school the Apple, Flavor, and Slyly families had met in the class room. Bass was left at home while Johnny was stuck sitting by himself outside. This was the worst day of school ever for Johnny. He got into trouble, got into a fight, was embarrassed in front of his whole class and he had made a new enemy. Johnny tried to hold back tears as he looked down to the floor.
This wasn't his first time being bullied. There had been many bullies before Bass, but none of them were nearly as bad. He remembered the first time he had ever been bullied.
About a month after the Diamond Tiara incident, three new colts had enrolled at the school house. Their names were Stronghold, Shots, and Three Point. All earth ponies from Manehattan. They treated Johnny the same way Bass had, but this time it was out of fear rather than out of misjudgment.
"Hey look it's Dummy Appleseed." Stronghold was the head of the group and would address Johnny by making bad puns on is name.
"Look at those weird legs. They're so long and scrawny." Three Point being the pudgiest would always compare his strength to Johnny's.
"Haha yeah uh..... WEAKLING!" Shots was the quietest one. He let his friends do most of the insulting.
Johnny would always avoid them in any way possible. There was a time when he wouldn't even leave the farm. Johnny had asked Big Macintosh to carry him to school as a way to keep the three at bay. Luckily for Johnny the torment would soon end as the three step-brothers' family had to move to Applewood.
It was a close call then, but it wouldn't be as easy now. Bass would probably be kicked out of school for the fight, but the consequences of the confrontation still lingered in his thoughts. 'What if I get kicked out? I don't wanna be kicked out. I like it at school.' Johnny thought. He became more and more tense as he repeated the question in thought. "Why now? Why is this 'not being a pony' thing botherin me now? Why is being a human so hard?" Johnny said to himself. Suddenly the door opened. Bass's father walked out first and saw Johnny sitting on the bench.
"Please forgive my son. He's usually a lot more well behaved than he was today. I'll make sure a mishap like this doesn't happen again." He said in a sophisticated tone.
"Uhh...Thank you doctor." Johnny sat up.
"Please. Call me Mr. Slyly." Dr.Slyly said with a small smile as he walked away. Next came Applejack and Applebloom.
"C'mon Johnny we're goin home." Applejack said with a hint of monotone. Johnny could tell she was upset. Applebloom walked up to her brother and looked up at him.
"It'll be alright. It was all Bass's fault." Applebloom said trying to encourage her brother. Johnny didn't respond. Then Mr. Tangy Flavor and Mrs. Spice Flavor walked out with Twist.
"Thank you Johnny for helping Twist. If there's anything we could do for you we'll be happy to help." Mr. Flavor thanked.
"It's okay Mr. Flavor. I'm just glad she didn't get hurt." Johnny sadly said.
"Bye Johnny, and thanksh again." Twist said and hugged Johnny's leg. She let go and walked away.
The two Apple siblings walked to Applejack and followed her home. "Uh sis? Are you mad?" Johnny asked in a concerned tone.
"Nah Ah ain't little brother. Yah did good today. Yah protected a filly in need. That was mighty chivalrous of ya." Applejack congratulated. "Just don't get so violent next time."
"Why are you so sad then?" Applebloom stepped in to the conversation.
"Ms. Cheerilee wants ya to stay home fer a week. Yer suspended Ah think she said. That's why Ah'm upset." Applejack explained.
'Good. I could take a week off. And the less time with Bass the better." Johnny thought.
They made it to the farm house around dinner time. Big Macintosh and Granny were already waiting for them. "So how was it?" Granny asked.
"T'was alright. Ah say Johnny had the right in all of this and we should be proud of him." Applejack said patting Johnny on the back.
"Eeyup." Big Macintosh. "Now can we start eatin? Foods' been sittin there for an hour."
"Of course. Let's dig in." Applejack happily said.
"I'm not really hungry. I think I'll go to bed early." Johnny said and started to walk upstairs.
"Really little bro? It's only 7. And we've got mash potaters, yer favorite." Applejack asked holding the bowl for him to see. He shook his head and continued up to his room.
An hour had passed. Johnny was thinking of what could be done about his dilemma.
'You're tough but I'm way better than you. Wanna know why? Because ponies are better than losers like you... what ever you are.' Bass's remarks were giving Johnny the worst headache he had ever had. Never had he felt so distressed. 'Whenever I see some thing weird I always poke it to see if it's real. And you dude, are the weirdest thing I've ever seen.' Just adding to the fire. 'You look nothing like a pony. What are you even doing here? What the hay are you?' Suddenly Johnny realized something.
"Why didn't I realize this before? Bass says I'm weird because I'm not a pony, Stronghold and the rest of them said I wasn't as good as them because I wasn't a pony, and the reason why I feel like I don't connect with everypony as well as I want to is because... well I'm a different species from them." Johnny had an idea. He made the most life changing decision that anypony in Equestria would have ever made.
"Hey bro? You okay?" Applebloom asked and walked in. Johnny yanked her off the floor and hugged. "GAH! Bro what're ya doin?!" She asked in surprise.
"Sis, I've realized what I gotta do to be fully accepted around here! I've gotta become a pony!" Johnny proudly declared.
"WHAT!? Bro that's crazy! How are ya even gonna do that?" Applebloom asked in disbelief.
"I've gotta start start writing right NOW!" Johnny said and pulled a pencil and some stationary out of his back pack. Applebloom stood there in silence as she watched her brother write his letter.
'He can't be serious. My brother... my HUMAN brother...' Applebloom thought wondering what she should do. "Well.... good night bro.... good luck on yerr letter. Ah guess."
"Good night sis." Johnny said and grabbed another piece of paper. Applebloom sighed and jumped into her bed. "Alright then.... Let's try this again. Dear Princess Celestia...."
Wow last chapter was... rather discouraging. Sorry i was just expecting more feed back than I had gotten. Oh well, maybe this chapter will have gotten your attention. Thanks again guys.
I was really looking forward to this chapter actually, Bass isn't really an OC of mine. Any Mega Man fan out there should know. I just wanted to have a little cameo in there for the heck of it. And Stronghold, Shots, and Three Point would be earth pony versions of Billy Dumbell, Hoops and Score. (Clever huh?) and Tangy and Spice Flavor would be recolors of the Cakes.
This is what Bass looks like.
And we will be seeing more of him in the future. And for you Braeburn fans out there, look out! A sh(= storm's brewin!
Just remember. I love feed back and if you haven't pressed that favorite button up their yet... PRESS IT! YAAAAY! Alright then that does it for now.
See y'all later.
