Chapter 1

New York City, New york 9:30PM

In the darkness of an ally something moved, had a human been watching they would have seen an astonishing sight. A small rat walked out from behind a dumpster and slowly grew and changed shape into a normal looking human.

But this human was no where near normal, he was a shape-shifter. A government experiment that escaped two years ago, on the run ever since. The only thing about him that didn't change when he shifted were his eyes, which were like a cat's. Both were a vivid cobalt-blue with no whites and slit pupils.

Warily, the human looked around, making sure that no one was nearby. As an escaped government experiment the shape-shifter was always running from potential agents, always on the look out for anything that could turn hm in. Luckily for him, he had the advantage of being able to turn himself into any living being he could imagine.

As he walked further down the street he got the strangest feeling, and he spoke to himself, keeping his soft tenor voice down.

“Strange, it almost feels like there's someone watching me.”

Looking over his shoulder briefly he saw no one around, which was exceptionally strange for New York. Must be some sort of holiday.

Meanwhile on a nearby roof, a US navy SEALs spec-ops sniper was watching the Shape-shifter. The sniper raised a black-gloved hand to his ear.

“Sir, I've spotted Project Chimera. I have the shot, permission to fire.”

After a few moments a gruff voice replied. “Permission granted, and soldier when that Thing's down, I want you to go down there and make SURE it's dead. Then dispose of the body. Is that understood?”

“Crystal sir.”

The sniper loaded his gun, ensuring the flash-suppressing silencer was secure, then gently raised it to his shoulder, taking careful aim at the side of the target's head.

He waited until the shape-shifter stopped, breathed out, and squeezed.

The shape-shifter stopped in by the corner of a building, feeling like he was being watched again, it would ultimately be his undoing. As he turned to look around, the side of his head suddenly exploded in a shower of blood, brains, and bone fragments. His body still working on the last command the head gave to it took one step, the collapsed.

The sniper swiftly picked up his weapon and placed it in a holster on his back.

“Target down, checking status now, request clean-up team.”

“Affirmative, sending team to your position.”

The sniper spied the nearest ladder and slid down, his hands gripping the sides. He then walked towards the body, pulling out a silenced pistol. Taking aim the SEAL put two more rounds into the remnants of the shape-shifter's head.

The Seal then stood by the body, awaiting the clean-up team.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The shape-shifter awoke to find himself in an endless, formless void. He looked around noticing his shape was currently human.
Suddenly a voice spoke from the nothingness. “Welcome, mortal, to the realm of those that have passed.”
“You mean I'm dead?”
“Yes.”
“So I guess this is the part where you send me to my appropriate afterlife?”
“If you wish, I do have another choice for you. But consider, mortal, that not many get to choose, so choose wisely.”
“Alright, what are the choices.”
“You could choose to move on, and enter the afterlife, or you could choose to become a guardian.”
“A guardian of what.”
“Not what, where. If you choose the second choice I will send you to another world, there you will become a guardian of sorts.”
“Of sorts?”
“Yes, the world already has protection against more dangerous beings, but lacks protection against those that do not threaten the entire world.”
“So I'd be helping innocents, protecting towns and the citizens that live there.”
“Yes, now make your choice mortal, but be aware, once chosen the choice cannot be revoked.”
“I'd like to keep living, living on the run wasn't exactly my idea of a life, I think it'd be worth it to live in a new home. So send me to this other world.”
“Very well, enjoy your new life mortal. I do hope we don't have to meet again soon, because next time I cannot give you a choice.”
With that a rift appeared in the void showing a forest. The shape-shifter's body drifted towards the rift and with a flash was sucked through.
“Protect the innocents, mortal.” The voice said as the rift closed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Shape-shifter awoke to find himself in a charred clearing in the middle of a forest. After a moment, he stood up and looked around, observing his surroundings. After a moment a thought came into his mind. 'I need a name.' The Shape-shifter walked forwards, shifted himself into a bird, and took flight.

As he broke through the canopy, several names went through his head, and as he spotted a nearby town, he settled on one. 'I name is Chyron.'

The raven form of the shape-shifter glided into the town, taking in the sights of ponies going about their everyday lives. He was initially surprised to see ponies as the dominant species, but the being that sent him here DID say this was another world. For all he knew, up could be down.

He felt that he needed to establish priorities. First: He needed to find out all he could about his new home. Second: He needed a job to use as a cover when not protecting these innocents. Third: ????? Fourth: Profit.

As he glided through town he noticed a saffron colored pegasus giving out bird feed to birds, and his stomach growled at him.

With a caw, the shape-shifted bird landed outside the pack of birds near the pegasus, and cautiously looked towards the bird feed.

The pegasus noticed him, and spoke her voice soft and timid. “Oh, hello there mister raven, would you like some food?”

The pegasus poured some bird feed before the shape-shifter, and Chyron hopped forwards, pecking at the pile of food.

“What a handsome raven you are. Oh my, you have the strangest eyes.”

Chyron almost froze up, cursing his inability to change the look of his eyes. Chyron looked up and stared into the pegasus' own eyes.

The pegasus smiled at him.

Using his assumed form's vocal chords Chyron let loose a raucous caw. Then the shape-shifter resumed eating.

The pegasus giggled, her voice still retaining its shy and timid nature.

After a few moments Chyron had eaten his fill, and opened his wings to fly off.

“Bye bye mister raven. Come back soon.”

With another caw, Chyron lifted off into the skies. As he was flying Chyron observed the town, taking in the sights. Noticing the day was coming to an end, the shape-shifter few off towards the forest. As he passed the town's center, he noticed a tree with a sign hanging above the doorway. He noted that the sign had the symbol of a book on it. Noting this in his mind for later, Chyron continued into the forest, swiftly finding a perch in a tree near the edges of the woods.

As the ravens settled in for the night, Chyron smiled at the sight of a beautiful sunset. Even before the US government had and basically kidnapped him off the streets he had always enjoyed the sunset. It made him feel calm and peaceful, as if nothing could go wrong in the world. Then Chyron closed his eyes and slept, his mind awash with ideas.

(AN: Let me know what you think. Just an FYI, Chyron's personality is based mostly off my own. If you spot any mistakes let me know, as I currently don't have an editor.)

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Chyron stretched himself awake, yawning in the morning sunlight. Today, he was going to wander into town. But first he needed a disguise, whilst flying over the town yesterday, he noted three distinct types of equine shaped beings. The first was the pegasus he met when he ate bird feed. The second was a unicorn that he saw entering what looked like a tree-shaped library. And the last was a pony with neither wings nor horns, this one he saw bouncing, yes bouncing, around the town. He made a mental note to avoid this bouncing pink pony. (Unbeknownst to him, the encounter would be inevitable.)

He hopped off his perch, wings fared open to come in for a softer landing. With a firm footing on the ground the shape-shifter began the transformation, which for him, was as easy as breathing for normal beings.

After a few seconds the transformation was complete, and Chyron looked like a completely normal Earth equine. He had also remembered to include his own version of one of the strange markings on the flanks of the equidae he had seen around town. His symbol was a small white circle, out of which came the heads of three different animals. A lion, a goat, and a snake. Chyron inspected his body, noting that his coat was now a soft silver color, and his tail was a brilliant neon orange. His eyes remained the same, as they did with all his transformations.

With his disguise complete, the pony wandered towards the town, ensuring to keep a sharp eye out for the strange bouncing pink mare. As he entered the town, a growl interrupted his thoughts. Chyron realized that he hadn't eaten since yesterday.  He spied a nearby park and trotted towards it.

As he sat down, he leaned his head forwards and took a bite out of the grass below him. He enjoyed the flavor much to his surprise. It was like eating sugary cabbage with just a hint of lime. As he reached down to take a second bite, a southern accented voice called out to him.

“What the hay do yah think yer doin'?!”

He turned to look and spotted an orange Earth equine wearing a surprisingly accurate cowboy hat. Chyron took another bite of the grass and replied. “Eating?”

“Why the hay don't yah buy some apples then?”

“Because I have no money?” As Chyron replied, his ears heard a strange noise, it was the sound of something impacting the ground repeatedly. Almost like something was bouncing. His eyes widened, and he was about to stand to leave, but it was too late.

He watched in horror as the pink earth mare from yesterday bounced past speaking to the orange mare in a happy, care-free tone. “Hiya Applejack, hiya pony I've never seen before!”

“Howdy, Pinkie!”

The pink earth mare, who he now knew was named Pinkie, bounced away twice. On the third bounce, the mare literally halted mid-air. Chyron's jaw dropped at such a blatant disregard for the laws of physics.

With a blur of pink, the mare shot up into his face, her sapphire eyes meeting his own ruby eyes.

“YOU'RE NEW!” She squealed. “And if you're new, that means I don't know you. And if I don't know you that means....” The mare drifted off, then she bounced into the air gasping hugely before zooming off in a flash of pink.

As Chyron regained his senses, he noticed the mare named Applejack smirking at him. “What, just happened.”

“Pinkie Pie happened.” Applejack replied, as if that explained everything. (Which it did.)

“Is she always like that?”

“Sure as sugar, It's just Pinkie bein' Pinkie. Now how about yall come with me and I'll set yah up with some apples.”

“I told you already, I have no money, I just arrived. No home, and no job.”

“Shoot I'll tell yah what, yall can come live on tha farm with me and mah family! And while yer there yall can help do some of tha chores, we'd even pay yah.”

“Hmmm, sounds like a perfectly acceptable deal to me!” Chyron said, holding forth a hoof.

The farm mare took his hoof in her own and they shook.

“Tha farm's that way, just head on by later today.” Applejack said, pointing her hoof towards the farm. “And just ah werd of advice, head by tha house that looks like ah gingerbread house around three.”

“I think I can do that.”

With that, the two went their separate ways. Chyron spotted the tree library in the distance and smiled as he trotted in its direction. 'I've got a home and a job, now for some knowledge on this place.' He thought to himself.

As he wandered through town he noted several features which peaked his interest. One was the gingerbread house which Applejack asked him to go to sometime later. The second was a carousel looking house, complete with frills. The last was a rather fancy fountain featuring a statue of a pony holding a flag. A symbol of a sun, with the outline of a white mare, wings spread wide, horn held to the heavens floated in the midst of the golden sun adorned the flag.

Chyron cantered onwards determined to get to that place of knowledge. He approached the door of the tree-brary, hesitant about whether or not to knock. The shape-shifter shrugged entering the library. The first thing he spotted was a green and purple colored lizard, the second was a lavender colored unicorn mare reading a book.

As the door shut behind him, the lizard looked over. “Twi, we have a visitor.”

The mare looked up, and spotted Chyron. “Hello, and welcome to the Ponyville Public Library. My name is Twilight sparkle. And this is my assistant Spike.”

The shape-shifter held out a hoof. “My name is Chyron.”

“Well, Chyron if you find anything you like feel free to read it.”

“Thank you. By the way, would you mind telling me when it gets close to three in the afternoon?”

“Of course, but why?”

“I was invited to a place called Sugar cube corner by a mare named Pinkie Pie. I told her I would come.”

Chyron watched as Twilight shared a knowing look with her assistant. “Don't worry I'll let you know.”

“Thank you.” Chyron said as he began to browse the shelves. As he browsed he saw several books that peaked his interest, but none more so than one titled; An Abridged History of Equestria. Reaching up with his hooves, he took the book from its place, and lay down to read.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chyron started as he felt a hoof prod his side. He looked up from his engrossing book, noticing Twilight staring at him.
“It's almost three, do you need a bookmark?”
“I was almost done with it anyways, but thank you.”
Spike whistled softly. “Geez, you read almost as fast as Twilight.”
The lavender mare blushed. “oh, Spike.”
Chyron interrupted before anything else could be said. “I have an invitation to fulfill, I would be honored if you two would join me.”
“Can we go Twilight please?!”
“Of course we can Spike.”
Chyron smiled and turned to trot out of the library heading towards the gingerbread house, followed by the bookish mare and her assistant.
As he walked towards the candy house, he noticed something odd. For one thing there were no light on in the home, and the second was that for just a moment he swore he saw a pony's head duck below the windowsill.
He stopped before the door, holding it open for the lavender mare. “Ladies first.”
“Thank you.”
Chyron followed as she entered, the door shutting behind him. Mere moments after the door shut, the lights flicked on and a plethora of voices all shouted one thing.
“SURPRISE!”
Chyron jumped backwards barely suppressing the urge to transform. “What's going on?!”
Pinkie Pie zoomed up into his face. “Silly! It a party for you! We're welcoming you to Ponyville!”
“But why?”
“Because silly, we're your friends!”
Chyron blinked at this. “You would be friends with me, even though you barely know me?”
Every head he saw nodded.
“I don't know what to say.” Chyron thought for a second, his mind coming up blank. “Ah, the hay with it. LET'S PARTY!”
The gathered crowd cheered.
Hours later, the party was winding down, and Chyron's head was aching from struggling to remember so many names.
Chyron noticed Applejack trotting up to him. “Yall ready tah go?”
Chyron nodded. “Ugh, so many names. And I think I ate too much cake.”
Applejack chuckled. “That happens at a Pinkie Party.”
“Does she do this for EVERY new pony she meets?!”
“She sure does, now come on, I got tah introduce yah to mah family.”
“Lead the way.”
Chyron followed the orange earth mare, waving goodbye to the remnants of the ponies that were still at the party.
As Chyron and Applejack headed towards the farm, Chyron let his thoughts wander. He had a home, a job, and several friends. He was set fairly well, now all he had to do was wait for his opportunity to use his shape-shifting powers to help defend his new home.
(AN: Done. If you can tell me where I got my idea for Chyron's cutie mark you get a cookie. I'll even give you a hint. Its the name of a mythical creature and that name is located somewhere in chapter one. Enjoy!)
Chapter 3
Chapter 3
(AN: For future notes all transformations Chyron takes will be explained at the end of each chapter.)
A few days had passed since Chyron had come to the land he now knew as Equestria. As of yet he had found no reason to use his ability to change shape. He had begun to wonder if the being of the void had been wrong about this world needing protection, if the god-thing had sent him here for another reason entirely.
Yesterday, Applejack had asked him to join her and the other girls for a small indoor picnic. He was a little apprehensive, but he decided he needed to spend time with his new friends, so he agreed to go.
“So, darling, you never did tell us where you were from.”
“Shoot ah reckon yah didn't, care tah tell us?”
“i come from a far away land, there unicorns and pegasi are rare. Ponies there are not as... friendly as they are here, mostly because that place is rather vicious. The animals are blood thirsty beasts, every pony there carries some sort of knife or weapon. I grew tired of living in that hell, so I came here.”
“Oh my, it sounds horrible.”
Suddenly the door to the bakery burst open, an out of breath pegasus flopping to the floor.
“Rainchaser?!” Rainbow dash asked. “What's going on.”
“Diamond dogs! They're wrecking the town!”
“OH HAY NO! Twilight, we need to help!”
“Agreed, Rainbow.”
Unseen by any of them, a small smile had come to Chyron's face. With stealth ad skill that would have made a professional ninja or thief envious, Chyron melted into a nearby shadow, vanishing from sight.
“Rainbow, AJ you're with me, Rarity help Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy. You're with Chyron.... wait where is he?!”
The ponies looked around for the silver colt, but were interrupted by a loud, brutish roar.
The ponies rushed to the window, staring outside. In the middle of the town stood a frightening beast. It was a tall, broad-shouldered thing. Looking as if it was made of fire it stretched it's arms, each one ending in a great four-clawed hand. Its head was bullish, complete with horns. It had a short, stubby tail. It's thick legs ended in dark hooves, and on it's back were two black wings looking for all the world to be oozing darkness.
The best roared, and where a normal pony's mane would be, great red flames flared up instead. The ponies gasped at the horrible thing, then they rushed out to confront the horror.
As they neared the thing they saw it was standing before a group of diamond dogs who looked as if they were about to bolt at any moment.
The beast slammed one of it's clawed hands into the ground before the group of dogs, roaring, its open mouth showing a vivid glowing orange. Then it reared up and flared it's wings, the shadow oozing from them making the beast seem bigger and more menacing.
The dogs cringed in fear. The beast spoke one word, and the ponies winced at the grating bestial sound, although it's tone sounded familiar to them. “LEAVE!”
The dogs nodded, and ran off like nightmare moon was chasing after them.
Seconds later the fiery beast turned to see a gathered group of ponies. As the ponies stared into its eyes, they found themselves once again feeling familiarity. Its eyes where blood red with cat-like pupils. There was only one pony the gathered friends knew that had eyes like that.
“Chyron?!” Twilight ventured.
The beast reared back, it's shadowy wings flaring in surprise, then it leaned forwards and roared.
Fluttershy stepped forwards, mustering her courage. “Chyron, if that's you, please stop being so scary.”
“How did you know?!” The beast growled.
“Your eyes.” Fluttershy replied simply.
“I'm sorry.” The beast said.
“For what?! You showed those dogs whose boss! That was AWESOME!”
“For lying to you, and for tainting this place with my presence. I'll leave.”
“NO WAIT!” Twilight said, but Chyron either didn't hear, or wasn't listening.
The ponies could only watch as the beast shrank and changed, turning itself into a cheetah. Then Chyron ran, headed for the forest.
“What do we do now, darlings. Chyron obviously thinks himself some sort of monster.”
Twilight smiled, a gleam of determination in her eyes. “We show him that no matter what he is that we are still his friends. We show him that we're not angry at him for hiding this from us! We show him that he is welcome here in Equestria, and that he's NOT a monster!”
The other girls shouted cheers of agreement and headed of in the direction of the shape-shifter.
Rainbow flew high, her sharp eyes keeping track of her friend though only barely. Suddenly she swooped down and hovered before her friends. “Girls we have a problem, He went into the Everfree.”
“Then we have to go after him!”
With that said the girls charged in, Fluttershy whimpering before she followed her friends. Twilight noticed several trees had long, deep gouges in them. She looked ahead and saw more of the marked trees. “Look girls, I think he went this way.”
The girls continued deeper into the forest, not knowing that they were being watched by a hungry pack of Timberwolves.
The group continued inwards, but the marks stopped after a few more feet. A voice spoke out, and they recognized it as Chyron's. “Go away, I don't deserve your friendship, I'm just a horrible, lying, monster.”
“Sugarcube, yah may have lied tah us, but we fergive yah. Yall helped chase out them rotten diamond dogs. Yall need to come back. Yer our friend!”
“YEAH! What she said!”
“Please, darling come back with us.”
The ponies heard a sigh, and the leaves above them rustled. From the branches, Chyron dropped, landing on his hooves in his pony form. “I'll come back, but I don't want to be treated differently just because I'm a shape-shifter.”
“Of course Silly!”
“I would like to know how you did that though, is it magic?!”
Chyron stiffened, his eyes staring past the girls. “Girls, I want you to stay out of my way.”
“What are yah....” The farm mare was interrupted by a creak of wood and a feral growl. The girls turned to see a pack of Timberwolves. The wolves growled, drool dripping from their wooden fangs.
Fluttershy whimpered, darting behind the silver stallion.
“Don't worry girls, I'll handle these jerks.” With that the shape-shifter stepped forwards and his body shifted as he changed. When it was done in the pony's place stood a fierce looking bi-pedal beast.
It was tall and thin, its mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth, on its back were four thin spikes of bone that twitched and quivered. Its long arms ended fierce looking scythes that looked as if they could cut through bone. It had a long serpentine tail that moved to its side, a wicked looking serrated barb glinting at the end of the tail.
The beast screeched the sound like that of nails on chalkboard combined with the swing of a rusty gate.
Confused, the wolves backed up slightly at the sight of this fearsome predator. Then the alpha of the packed lunged forwards, aiming for the ponies behind the tall creature. In response, the beasts tail flicked forwards spearing the wooden wolf through one of it's legs.
With another flick of its tail, the beast tossed the injured alpha back amongst its own pack. The alpha tried to get up, but its injured leg collapsed under the strain. The pack looked at their injured leader then to the beast that cased the injury.
“Leave or you will receive worse then that wolf.” The beast said with a growl.
The wolves stared at their leader for a moment, then fear won out over hunger. The wolves fled, leaving their injured leader.
Chyron shrank and morphed until he was back in his Pony form. He trotted towards the wolf, which vainly tried to get away form the colt.
“I'm sorry I had to do that. But you left me no option. I'm not about to let my friends get hurt. I don't like making an offer like this nut if you want, I can.... ease your pain.”
The ponies shivered at the way the colt said the word ease.
“Wait!” Fluttershy said with a surprising amount of volume for her. “Don't hurt him please. He was just hungry. You have to fix this... Please?!” Fluttershy said as she stared at him with big, sad, puppy-eyes.
Chyron's heart nearly exploded from the adorableness the saffron pegasus was giving him. “Very well.”
Chyron's form shifted and grew, after a few moments he had changed into a creature the ponies recognized, he had turned into a minotaur. Although a few things were different about this minotaur.
Chyron knelt, stretching out a three fingered hand towards the wolf. “Nourish.” he said, the outstretched hand glowing green. The ponies watched as the green aura suffused the wound, which closed after a few seconds.
“There, now go and continue to live your life. But next time refrain from harming ponies.”
The wolf leaped up to it's feet. Then with a happy yelp it darted out into the forest.
Chyron shifted back to his pony form and turned to face his friends. “Let's go home. And yes, Twilight I will answer all your questions, but later. Right now I want to go home.”
With that the friends trotted back to town, eager to return to their normal lives.
(AN: Done again. The fire beast is based off The Balrog from LotR. The second thing is somethign I made up myself, but loosely based off of a creature from Warcraft. And the third is a tauren druid. Hope you enjoyed this chapter.)
Chapter 4
Chapter 4
A full week had passed since the incident with the diamond dogs, and though Chyron's friends had told the local newspaper that he was the beast of fire and darkness, they had a;so asked the townsfolk to treat him no differently than any other pony, for which he was grateful.
Though Chyron had accepted that his friends truly meant they were his friends, a single simple question still burned in his mind: WHY? He decided to ask the element of honesty herself.
“Applejack, can I ask you a question?”
“Yah sure can, sugarcube!”
“I know you said that we're friends, but I want to know why. You know I could easily turn into a monster that could destroy the town.”
“That may be true, but ah know yah won't. We know that no matter what yah look like and what yah turn into, yall will still be the same pony we know on tha inside.”
Chyron smiled at his friend's sage wisdom. “Thanks AJ, I needed that.”
“No problem sugarcube, why don't yah go into town and wander around fer a bit.”
“Sounds good.”
As Chyron trotted towards the town, his first thought was to do what AJ suggested, but instead he realized that he wanted to spend more time with his friends. He decided to spend more time with the pony he knew about the least. Pinkie Pie.
As he entered the town he noticed a plum colored earth mare walking towards him.
“Hello...”
“Miss Cheerilee.”
“Chyron. Can I help you?”
“Actually you can, I was wondering if you'd be willing to drop by the schoolhouse tomorrow around noon.”
“What for?”
“Well I wanted to teach some minor biology, mainly involving the differences between ponies and other species.”
“Let me guess, since it's too dangerous to capture a real live animal, especially if it's a predator, you want to use me instead.”
“Yes that sums it up nicely.”
“I'll be there.”
“Thank you so much!”
“No problem.”
Chyron resumed walking, headed towards the familiar bakery, he entered the shop and a bell above the door rang.
“Hello dearie!”
“Hello, Mrs. Cake, is Pinkie here?”
“Of course I am silly!”
“You want to hang out for a bit Pinkie? Er, you don't mind if I borrow your employee do you Mrs. Cake?”
“Of course not dearie, you two go have fun!”
“Thanks!”
“OOOOO! Hanging out sounds neat! Where are we going?!”
“To be honest I have no clue.”
The two chuckled as they wandered out into the town, conversing about various subjects.
The next day
Chyron stood outside the door and raised a hoof to knock, but paused when he heard Cheerilee's voice.
“Children, please settle down. Today we have a rather unique visitor, and he's going to be helping with our lesson.”
Chyron smiled and felt that it was an appropriate time to knock.
“That must be him, come in!”
Chyron walked in and saw a classroom full of fillies and colts, three of which he recognized as the infamous Cutie Mark Crusaders.
“Good morning, class.”
“This is our guest.”
“And just how is HE supposed to help us?!” Asked a filly with a tiara on her head. Chyron merely stared at the filly Applebloom had warned him about yesterday, she truly was a snob in every sense of the word.
“Now, now Diamond Tiara. He's our guest, we need to be polite. As I said before our guest is unique, isn't that right Chyron?”
“I am indeed unique, just tell me what sort of beast you're studying first, and I'll do the rest.”
“Do you know what a changeling looks like?”
“If you're talking about those bug-pony things, I saw a picture of them in one of Twilight's books.” Chyron replied as his form shifted and changed into an exact replica of a changeling. “It feels a little weird having both wings AND a horn but I've dealt with weirder.”
“Now, class, what do you notice is different about a changeling from other ponies.”
In response to Cheerilee's question, Chyron posed dramatically, bug-wings flared outwards, mouth open and fangs extended in a feral snarl.
“I think that thing looks like a bug.” Said a gray filly with a spoon for a cutie mark.
“Correct Silver Spoon, changelings are much different from ponies in that they have very bug-like traits. From the hard exoskeleton to the wings, and even it's eyes are bug-like.”
“Can't change my eyes Cheerilee.”
“That's all right. I was just using that as an example. Now does anypony else have an example?”
“What about a cockatrice?” Pipsqueak asked.
“Sure I can do that, luckily for you, I can't change my eyes or I'd have to keep them closed so you wouldn't turn to stone.” Chyron replied with a chuckle, already changed into the chicken-snake.
An hour later, Cheerilee dismissed the class and thanked Chyron for coming in. As he exited the schoolhouse, Chyron was stopped by three fillies. “Can yah help us get our cutie marks mister Chyron?!” Applebloom asked with big, wide puppy eyes.
“I wish I could girls, but I told Pinkie I'd hang out with her again today.”
“AWWWWWW.”
“I'm sure you girls will all find something your good at, you just have to keep trying. There's a saying where I'm from. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I believe in you girls, you just have to keep trying.”
“YAY!” The fillies cheered as they charged off, eager to continue trying to earn their marks. But as they wandered off, Chyron chuckled to himself. “Get mad.” Chyron shook his head, still chuckling as he made his way towards sugarcube corner.
Four weeks passed since Chyron's little show and tell at the schoolhouse. Just about every time he had free time he spent it with his Pink pony friend. He wasn't ignoring his other friends, as he spent time with them too. But he found that he enjoyed Ponyville more when he was around that bubbly, pink ,party mare.
As he spent more time around her he began to notice a new feeling slowly beginning to grow in towards his pink friend. As he examined the emotion he quickly realized what it was with a chill of worry. He was falling in love with Pinkie Pie. Now normally this wouldn't be a problem, but given the fact that Chyron new next to nothing about Equestria's dating rituals, he felt a pang of fear. He wanted to date Pinkie, but also wanted to ensure that he didn't do anything that would seem wrong. After all she was his friend, and he didn't want to upset his friend.
He decided that tomorrow he would go to the library and rent out ALL the books he could find on Equestrian romance. How ever in his excitement to help further his relationship with his pink friend, he forgot he had told her they were going to hang out tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pinkie hopped in the bakery, impatiently waiting for her silver coated friend. She glanced at the clock, noting that the colt was fifteen minutes late. She began to worry that he didn't want to be friends with her anymore, but then realized that was silly. He was usually ever late, maybe something just held him up! Pinkie hopped of towards the library, intent on solving this mystery.

Twilight looked up as Pinkie Pie bounced through the library door noisily.

“Twilight!”

“Yes Pinkie?!”

“Have you seen Chyron today?”

“Actually I did, he came and rented some books then left. It was rather strange actually.”

“I knew it! He's being all secrety!”

“You mean secretive?”

“That's what I said, secrety!”

“But, I, never mind. What else is there Pinkie?”

“Chyron didn't hang out like he said he would today!”

“That's also odd, as long as we've known him, he's always kept his word. Maybe it had something to do with the books he rented out earlier.”

“What sort of books were they?!”

“Equestrian dating customs if you can believe it. Personally I think he's found himself a special somepony and is making sure that when he asks her out he does everything right.”

Twilight watched as Pinkie's smile fell, only to be replaced with a fake one. “Oh, I hope who ever she is makes him happy.”

Twilight couldn't stand to see her friend like this, so she came up with a solution. “Tell you what Pinkie, I'm sure we can get some answers if we ask him, why don't I gather the other girls and we go ask him what's going on.”

“Okie dokie.” Pinkie replied, her voice dull and dreary.

The pair left the library to gather their friends, Pinkie actually WALKING instead of her usual bouncing.

Fifteen minutes later, the group found Chyron laying down in the park, engrossed in a book.

“Chyron, can we talk to you for a second?”

Chyron placed a bookmark in the book, and turned towards the mares. “Sure, what's going on?”

Twilight shoved the obviously blue Pinkie towards the silver stallion. “She's the one who needs to talk to you.” Twilight replied as she stepped back to rejoin her friends.

“Pinkie, you okay, you look kinda down.”

Pinkie shut her eyes tightly, then looked up with a sad, fake smile. “I'm fine.”

“No Pinkie you're not, seriously, tell me what's wrong.” Out of the corner of Chyron's eye he saw AJ open her mouth, but an alabaster hoof quickly covered it up. Rarity shook her head, having an inkling as to what was going on.

Chyron looked back to his pink friend and noticed a look of seriousness on her face that he had never seen in the pink mare before.

“Does she make you happy?”

“What?!” Chyron asked, blinking in surprise.

“The mare who your going to ask to be your special somepony. Does she make you happy.”

“Special somepony, where would you get an idea like that?”

“When you were late to hang out with me I got worried. So I went to Twilight's and she told me you rented books about dating.”

“She did, did she?” Chyron said, shooting a glare at the lavender mare that could have melted steel. “Pinkie, I'm not dating anypony.”

“Really?!” Pinkie asked, hope entering her voice, her fake grin turning to a real one.

“No, but there is this one mare I have my eyes on....”

Pinkie's grin faltered. “What's she like?”

Chyron lifted a hoof, hitting the ground to emphasize each description. Pinkie's grin regained it's lost ground and grew slowly at each word.

“Well, she's funny, bubbly, bouncy, and random. Oh man, is she random, but its cool, she sorta grows on you. Her mane looks like somepony just took a big old thing of cotton candy and glued it to her head.”

Chyron glanced back at his friends, noticing they all wore large grins, Rarity in particular was biting her lower lip vainly trying to hold back what was surely an excited squeal.

“Anything else?” The pink mare asked, quivering with joy.

“She's got the most beautiful eyes, it's like staring into a big blue ocean where nopony can see the bottom. Problem is, I don't know if she likes me back.”

“Ask her already you doofus!” Rainbow said with a brash shout, before being tackled by their other friends.

“Pinkie Pie, would you go on a date with me?”

Pinkie squealed in joy, joined by Rarity, before leaping forwards to give the stallion a bone-crushing hug. “Of course I will silly! Pick me up tomorrow at six Okie dokie?!”

“HAY YEAH!”

Pinkie giggled, bounding off, but not before she leaned over and kissed the shape-shifter's cheek.

Chyron sat there, a big goofy grin slowly consuming his face, his eyes becoming glassy from bliss.

“Way tah go sugarcube!” AJ said, giving the colt a slap on the back.

“Uh huh.” He replied still in a daze.

“Way to go. Whoo-hoo.” Fluttershy said in her timid voice.

“Darling you simply MUST let me make a suit for you!”

“Uh huh. Wait what?!” The colt said snapping out of his trance. “No way in hay, Rarity!”

“But darling, don't you want to look simply ravishing for your date?”

“Rarity, this is a date. Not a fancy-schmancy, fru-fru gala. Er, no offense.”

“None taken darling. But at least let me style your mane!”

“Fine.”

“Marvelous!” Rarity replied as she dragged her victim off. Chyron stared at his friends with pleading eyes. “Help...” The friends merely grinned trollishly and waved as they watched the stallion get dragged off by the fashionista mare.

Chyron entered AJ's farm home hours later, only to be greeted by a smirking Applejack. “Have fun?”

“Never. Again.”

“Oh come on now, it weren't that bad. I reckon yah clean up nice.”

“She tried too make me wear a tie....”

“So, that don't sound...”

“A TIE!”

“And?”

“You don't understand! Ties are evil! Sure, they look all innocent, but it's all a ruse! The moment you turn your back...” The colt drew a hoof across his throat mimicking a look of pained surprise. “GCCCCKKKK!!!!”

“Don't yah think yer bein' a little over-dramatic?”

Chyron stared at his farm friend with a completely deadpan expression. “NO.”

(AN: Done. Yes, I think that ties are evil, they are man.... On another note, this story will be continuing more! So keep on reading my fans! Also I need Ideas for Chyron's Nightmare Night costume, it's gotta be freaking SCARY! Leave your ideas in the comments please. In order to find out which one I pick, you'll just have to wait for that chapter to come out. *troll face*)

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Chyron yelped as he rolled out of bed, feeling the hard wood floor knock against his hide. Blearily the stallion opened his eyes feeling for all the world like he wanted to go back to bed. Chyron lifted a hoof to the bed, reveling in its softness, then his eyes shot wide open as he realized what was going on today. He felt a large grin growing upon his face as he remembered his date with his special somepony: Pinkie Pie.

Then a million worries shot through his mind at once. Was his hair straight? Where would they go? Did his breath stink? At the last thought, Chyron breathed on his hoof, warily giving it a sniff. He gagged at the rancid smell of his own breath, immediately turning to his bathroom to remedy the situation.

After several frantic minutes of brushing, Chyron felt satisfied at the cleanliness of his teeth. As he trotted downstairs, he noticed a distinct lack of noise in the farmhouse.

He looked around the living room, noticing a not left for him. He trotted over, smiling at what it said.

Me an' tha girls are hangin' out today, yall are welcome tah join us. AJ

With a smile, Chyron happily trotted out the farmhouse door.

Closing his eyes he felt his body shift and changed. When he opened his eyes he had turned into a large bird whose feathers were a lovely shade of cobalt-blue. Cawing in joy he took off into the air, a plume of dust following in his wake.

As he soared towards the town, a brilliant idea came to his mind. He wondered if Pinkie would enjoy flying. While he knew that his pink friend possessed some sort of candy-helicopter, he felt that she would thoroughly enjoy being flown through the air. He resolved to ask her later.

He spied his friends sitting down at an outdoor table beside Sugarcube corner. With a loud screech he dove towards the ground, flaring his wings out at the last moment, landing in a cloud of dust.

When the dust cleared he noticed his friends staring at him. Chyron grinned apologetically. “Sorry.”

“Please don't do that again, I mean if that's okay with you.”

“Sorry. Hey Pinkie, I just realized something. You never did tell me where we're going for our date tonight.”

“OOOO, you're right!”

“Well, you gonna tell me?”

“Nope! I want it to be a surprise! You like surprises right?!”

“Of course I do Pinkie. And....”

“Abomination.”

As the word hung in the air, Chyron heard his friends gasp, and watched as Rainbow took to the air. “Who the hay do you think you are!”

“Thanks for the help Rainbow, but I'd like to deal with this myself.”

As he turned towards the source, he felt a strong hoof on his shoulder. “We got yer back sugarcube.”

“Thanks AJ.”

Chyron turned his attention to the voice's source, and he had to squelch a feeling of anger that was bubbling up from within. HE saw a tan earth pony, his mark a trio of money bags. His pitch black hair slicked back with an overabundance of grease or hair gel.

“Do I know you?”

“My name is Filthy Rich, you showed up in my little Diamond Tiara's class yesterday. She told me all about you.”

“Uh huh, and this bothers me how?”

“It's my belief that you are a monster and an abomination. You shouldn't be allowed to live in this town, let alone be friends with such important ponies as the Elements of Harmony.”

Chyron heard his friends gasp behind him, Rainbow letting loose an angry growl.

“I'm sorry, I thought you were going to say something I actually cared about.”

As Chyron turned back to his friends, he heard Filthy's voice speak again. “Then maybe you'll care about this, beast. I sent a letter to the princess yesterday, informing her of your presence in my town. She should be receiving it sometime today. I can't wait to see the look on your face when she destroys you like the monster you are.”

Chyron glanced at his friends, noting various looks of anger and fear on their faces. “I'm sorry, what about that makes me care. I know for a fact that Celestia trusts the elements and I also know that they would gladly vouch for me if the Princess asked them about me. So you can try all you want to be rid of me, but I'm not going anywhere. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to enjoy the rest of my day with my friends before my date with Pinkie Pie.”

“This will not be the last you hear from me beast, one day I'll show this town your true face, that of a monster.”

“Riiiight. What's next? Pigs flying, go bother somepony else.”

He heard the earth stallion trot off.

“The nerve of that stallion!”

“I know Rarity.”

“Chyron, we have to prepare! The Princess could arrive at any moment!”

“No Twilight. I said I was going to spend the day with my friends, then go on a date with my marefriend, and that's exactly what I intend to do.”

“But, what if...”

“With friends like you, I don't need to worry about being banished or executed. I know you'll vouch for me.”

“Of course we will silly!” Pinkie said as she nuzzled her coltfriend.

Chyron blushed at the attention, but nuzzled back to the group letting loose a chorus of 'Awwwwww's.

“Say Pinkie, how would you like to fell what it's like to fly?”

“Silly, I already know! I showed you my candy-copter remember?”

“No Pinkie I mean REALLY fly. I'm offering to turn into something and take you flying with me.”

“OOOOOOO!!!! That sounds neat! Can we do it right now?! HUHHUHHUH?!”

Chyron chuckled, feeling happy that his marefriend wanted to fly with him. “Of course we can silly billy.” Chyron nearly face-hoofed as he realized he had just used one of his marefriend's sayings.

Chyron stepped back from the table, and transformed. When he was done, he looked like a large manta-ray, except that he hovered in the air.

“What are you waiting for? Hop on”

Pinkie squealed and leaped onto the back of the manta-ray. She jolted slightly as a large sheen of skin wrapped around her snugly. “What's this for?”

“Wouldn't want you falling off now would we?” Chyron asked as he raised one of his eye-stalks to look at his marefriend. “Thank you for choosing Chyron airlines. Please keep you hooves and head inside the vehicle at all times. If you begin to get sacred or sick, please inform the pilot at once.”

Pinkie giggled at her coltfriend's silliness. As the pair rose higher, Pinkie squealed excitedly. “OOOO! I can see my house from here!”

“Of course you can Pinkie.” Chyron then noticed a rainbow colored blur loop up and hover next to his marefriend. “Rainbow what are you doing?”

He didn't get an answer because Rainbow whispered something in Pinkie's ear. Chyron heard the pink mare giggle and say in a very familiar tone. “Do a barrel roll!”

Chyron sighed, but complied to his marefriend's request, smiling as he heard her and Rainbow's giggles. “Rainbow, I'd give you a bro-hoof, but I'd rather not start falling right now.”

“Eh, it's cool.”

“Alright Pinkie, I think we should get down now.”

“Okie dokie! We can go on our date!”

“Now?! But it's not dinner time!”

“SO?!”

“Alright then! Let's do this!”

Chyron dove sharply, enjoying the sound of Pinkie yelling with joy.

As he landed, released Pinkie, who promptly hopped off.

He turned to ask his marefriend where she wanted to go, but noticed Twilight approaching with a look of fear on here face.

“What's up?”

“I think you should read this.” Twilight said as she hoofed a scroll over to him.

Pinkie peaked over Chyron's shoulder as he read aloud.

Dear Chyron,

It has come to my attention that you are being accused of being a monster. As ruler of Equestria it is my duty to investigate all such claims. Included within this scroll are two train tickets to Canterlot. One is for you, the other is to bring one pony of your choice to vouch on your behalf. IF you don't show up tomorrow at noon, I will be forced to consider you a threat to Equestria and thus post a reward for your capture. I am hoping we can clear this matter up quickly.

HRH,

Princess Celestia

“Well, I can think of no better pony to vouch for me. And that's my marefriend.”

“Of course I'll go with you silly! The Princess will HAVE to believe me!”

“Don't worry girls, we'll be back tomorrow after we reassure Celestia I'm not a monster. Now how about that date, Pinkie.”

“Let's go!”

(AN: Sorry I cut the date scene out, not really good with those. The next chapter may take a bit longer cause I gotta think things out for the meeting with royalty.)

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Chyron nuzzled his marefriend as they waited for the train to arrive in Ponyville. “You sure the Princess won't banish me? I don't want to leave Ponyville or my marefriend.”

“Of course she won't silly. The princess is nice, She's just doing what she has to to protect her subjects. I'm sure that once we explain things she'll see you're not a monster!”

Chyron smiled, nuzzling his marefriend's withers again. “You always seem to know what to say to make me smile.”

“Of course I do silly! Making friends smile is awesome! Plus you're my coltfriend! What kind of marefriend would I be if I let my coltfriend be a saddy-waddy frowny-face.”

“I suppose you wouldn't be a good marefriend at all.”

“EXACTLY!”

Chyron blinked, momentarily surprised at the amount of logic PINKIE PIE was putting forth, of all ponies.

With a whoosh of steam, and the shrill sound of a whistle the Friendship Express pulled into the station. “ALL ABOARD!” Yelled the conductor.

“Here we go!” Pinkie squealed.

Together the pair boarded the train, Chyron hoofing the tickets to the conductor.

Chyron chose a seat near a window, content to watch the scenery pass by. He smiled as he felt Pinkie curl up next to him. “You're warm.”

Chyron merely chuckled at this notion.

The pair nuzzled into each other as the train left the station, headed for the royal city of Canterlot.

“Equestria is a beautiful place, not like my old home.” Chyron said, a tear running down his face as he remembered his old home.

Pinkie promptly hugged the silver colt. “Awww, don't be sad! You're far away from that awful place!”

“I know, but somehow, I feel like that place could come back to haunt me somehow.”

“How could it?! It doesn't know you're here!”

“Well, you're right about that.”

Chyron smiled, nuzzling his marefriend, but his mind was far away at that moment. His mind was occupied with worrying about a niggling feeling that he couldn't shake. A feeling that told him that his old home would come back to haunt him, one way or another.

Earth, Secret Government facility.

Scientists scrambled frantically around a large, human-made, ring-like object that looked vaguely like a Stargate, while the military General that had both created and ordered the destruction of the shape-shifter watched over them.

“What's the status?” The General asked a nearby scientist.

“Almost ready sir. Do you have a scout ready?”

The general nodded, motioning to the sniper that had pulled the trigger to end Chyron's life on Earth. “Sergeant Jenkins is my scout. He'll be the one to go in.”

The scientist handed a small, radio-like device to the sniper. “This device SHOULD allow you to contact us through the portal, so long as we keep the portal open with minimal power.”

The scientist then turned and watched as the other scientists worked on the large machine.

“Preparing to insert Material-M!”

“Inserting! Power levels stable! We have formation, I repeat, we have formation!”

The General smiled as a large portal showing a familiar pastel-colored world swirled into being, the landscape wavering and shimmering as if viewed through water.

“Success! Jenkins, Go pick up the gear that has been assigned to you, then head through. Once you have arrived contact us immediately.”

“Sir, yes sir!”

“Soon, this world will belong to the Human race, then nothing will stop America from taking over everything!” The General said as he chuckled darkly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chyron and Pinkie walked away from the train station in Canterlot.
They continued walking towards the palace until Chyron inadvertently bumped into a white unicorn stallion.
“Watch where you're going peasant!”
“Hey! You're that unicorn that made Rarity sad during the last Gala!” Pinkie Exclaimed.
Indeed, the unicorn Chyron had bumped into was none other than Prince Blueblood.
“Yes, that ghastly unicorn mare was undeserving of being with me.”
Chyron growled. “That is my friend you're talking about, watch your tongue.”
“You dare speak to me like that? Do you know who I am?!”
“I could honestly care less. Nopony treats my friends like dirt, watch yourself unicorn. Come on Pinkie, We're done here.”
The pair walked away until the Prince spoke something that made Chyron's blood boil. “You and your whore are nothing to me, and I shall report you to my aunt!”
Chyron turned, glaring at the unicorn prince with a heat akin to a thousand suns. He morphed his teeth into serrated sharpness then bared them, a small amount of happiness entering his mind as he saw Blueblood flinch away.
“What did you call my marefriend?!” Chyron said with a threatening tone in his voice.
“She is a whore and a peasant. She is nothing to me. I am a prince!”
Pinkie watched as Chyron's eye twitched. Suddenly the pink mare interjected what would surely escalate into a fight. “Come on Chyron, Celestia's waiting for us.”
“Watch your self prince, because if I hear you call my marefriend that word again, I will not be happy.”
Then he turned and walked away with Pinkie, headed into the palace.
Once inside they were greeted by Shining Armor. “Shiny!” Pinkie exclaimed.
“Hey there Pinks. Hows Ponyville?”
“It's awesome! How's Cadence doing?”
“Pretty good. That reminds me though, could you give a message to my sister for me?”
“Sure!”
“Tell Twili that she's going to be an aunt in about ten months.”
“Cadence is PREGNANT?!”
Shining nodded happily. “Yup, we found out last week.”
“Congratulations.” Chyron said in time with Pinkie.
“The princess said that somepony named Chyron would be visiting today.”
“That would be me.”
“Follow me please.”
The pair followed the Royal Guard Captain as he entered the Throne room. The trio bowed before the Princess pair.
“Hiya Princesses!”
“We welcome thee.”
“Thank you for coming Chyron, I truly did not want us to meet this way. But you must understand that I must do all I can to protect my subjects.”
Chyron nodded. “I know, but before you say anything else, know this. I will NOT be separated from my friends in Ponyville, nor will I be separated from Pinkie Pie. I'm not going to break my marefriend's heart. I will do anything it takes to stay with her and my friends, even if it means defying you both  of you.”
Celestia smiled, while Luna remained neutral.
“You do realize that could be considered treason, correct?”
“As I said before, I will do ANYTHING to stay with Pinkie and my friends.”
Celestia smiled again. This time her smile seemed more conniving. “Anything you say?” Celestia pondered.
Suddenly, one of Celestia's golden clad hooves shot out to point at the Pink mare. “Captain Shining Armor, I order you to arrest Pinkie Pie.”
Simultaneously, the trio of ponies exclaimed. “WHAT?!”
Then, with a sickening blur of transformative motion, Chyron changed into the hulking form of the fiery shadow-beast. He flared his shadow oozing wings and roared, his mouth glowing an angry orange. He then placed himself in front of Pinkie protectively as he glanced between Shining and Celestia.
“Sister, what art thou doing!”
Shining stepped forwards, looking in askance to his princess. “Princess you can't be serious!”
“Oh I am, Shining. I want you to arrest the element of laughter.”
“Don't do it Shining, I don't want to hurt you. But, I won't let you so much as TOUCH my marefriend.”
“SISTER! What art thou doing!” Luna asked, panic entering her voice.
“Your majesty, I can't do it. I'm sorry.”
Celestia smiled gently, standing up her horn glowing with power. “Very well, it seems I will have to do it myself then.” She said as she pointed her horn at Pinkie.
With another blur of transformative motion, Chyron changed into the scythe armed biped. Then he leaped forwards, quickly placing his razor sharp scythes at Celestia's throat in a scissors formation while his barbed tail pointed directly at Celestia's forehead.
“Call off the arrest NOW!” Chyron growled.
“Or what? You'll kill me?” Celestia said with a disdainful tone.
“If I have to? Yes.”
“Shining? Stand down.”
With that, Chyron leaped back in surprise. “What?!”
“You passed my test.”
“WHAT?!”
“I wanted to see if you were true to your word. You said you would defy me in order to protect your friends and loved one. Nopony that is actually a monster would ever claim that, nor would they go through with the threat. By doing both of these things, you have proven that you are not a monster as Filthy Rich claimed. You may return home, secure in the knowledge that I fully support your being in Equestria.”
Chyron blinked in stunned silence, his mind having blue-screened as he processed what the Princess had told him. Finally he spoke up. “Thank you.”
The pair turned to leave but were stopped by Celestia's voice. “And Chyron, one last thing.”
“Yes Princess?”
“Be extra vigilant in the coming days. I fear that your feelings about your old home are soon to come true.”
Once again, Chyron blue-screened as shocked anger entered his being. “If what you say is true, I would rather die then see my friends hurt or corrupted by my old home.”
“I thank you Chyron.”
The pair turned to leave again, leaving behind a confused Shining and Luna. Together they returned home, eager to tell their friends the news. Pinkie was especially happy to tell Twilight that she would be an aunt soon.
(AN: Done. Celestia engaged maximum troll mode there for a second. As for the humans? Just wait and see. *Evil Laugh*)
Chapter 7
Chapter 7
“Are you almost ready Jenkins?”
“Yes sir, just checking my rations sir.” The sniper replied as he rummaged through his duffel bag.
The sniper grimaced as he spotted the military-issued MREs, but then smiled and muttered to himself as he spied a flavor he liked. “At least I have chicken.”
“Ready sir, I'm on my way to Project: Wormhole.”
“Affirmative.”
The sniper stood, slinging the duffel over his shoulder, walking swiftly to the portal chamber. As he arrived he noticed a scientist standing beside the General.
“Jenkins, according to our lead engineer, you may be cut off for a while. We have to shut down the portal for a day so it can cool down.”
“I understand sir, but how will I be able to contact you.”
The scientist hands a small radio-like device to the sniper. “This device SHOULD allow you to talk to us once you're on the other world.”
“I'll take good care of it.”
“Alright, He's ready, open the portal.”
The scientist nodded and began belting orders to his coworkers. A humming whine began to build until it was of deafening intensity. Then with a sudden silence the portal swirled into being.
“Good luck soldier.” The general said. “Here, I want you to take this tape recorder as well. Record what you find, and when you return we will review it.”
“Understood.” The sniper said as he stepped through the glowing portal, vanishing in a flash of light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chyron was working along side his marefriend to prepare a batch of death-by-chocolate cupcakes, when he noticed his marefriend suddenly seize up.

“Pinkie? You ok?”

The mare opened her mouth to reply, but was interrupted as her entire body spasmed and trembled violently.

Then the pink mare eye widened to the widest Chyron had ever seen them.

“PINKIE SENSE!”

“What's it about?” Chyron asked worriedly, having encountered the pink mare's sixth sense on one particularly bad occasion.

“There's gonna be a doozy! A really BIG doozy!”

“Is it serious?”

The pink mare nodded frantically.

“Where?” Chyron asked, feeling that what ever the doozy was, it was connected to the niggling feeling he had been having lately.

“In the forest! I think we should get the girls!”

“No, Pinkie. I'm going to look into this myself. I wouldn't want my friends, or you, to get hurt.”

“Awwww!” Pinkie said as she nuzzled her caring coltfriend.

“I'll be back soon. I promise.” He replied as he made the motions of the pinkie-swear.

With that, the silver colt charged out the door, transforming as he went.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jenkins groaned, rubbing his head as he awoke. He opened his eyes, seeing that he was in some sort of forest. The sniper pulled forth the tape recorder and began to speak slowly and clearly ensuring the recorder could hear him.
“Entry one: I have arrived in the new world and will make haste in preparing a base camp. I will remain where I awoke, as I believe that the portal will open itself to the same place every time.”
The sniper paused, thinking of what to say next. Shrugging, He turned off the recorder. A snap of a twig alerted the sniper, and he pulled out a handgun.
Suddenly a large silver colored tiger with a neon-orange stripe running vertically down its head tackled the human, pinning his arms and legs to the ground.
“HUMAN!” The tiger roared.
“Shit!”
“Why have you come to my home, corrupter of all?!”
“Recon mission.”
The tiger growled, and lowered its head, roaring its hot, rancid breath in the sniper's face.
“You were foolish to come here, human. This is my home! I will not allow your kind to corrupt this innocent place!”
“Look tiger! I don't want to corrupt anything, I'm just a scout!”
“A likely story! But soon your kind will swarm this place like locusts! You will corrupt and consume all! Just like you did Earth.”
“How do you know about Earth?”
“I was from there. One of the human military Generals made me into what I am today.”
“What?!”
The tiger jumped off the pinned human, but not before swiping the hand-gun from his hand.
Then Chyron changed shape into his normal pony form.
The sniper's eyes widened. “Project: Chimera.”
The silver stallion growled. “That is not who I am any more. I am known as Chyron here. And I live a normal life, a life with friends, and a marefriend.”
“Don't you mean girlfriend?”
The stallion chuckled slightly. “Is that what I said? No, the sentient species here are ponies.”
“You're joking right?”
“No, I am not. I am a shape-shifter, you know this. Why would I adopt a form that was not that of the sentient species? That, and my marefriend happens to like the way I look.”
“Geez, when the General hears this He'll be surprised.”
“You have a way to contact the one who sent you?!”
The sniper nodded, pulling forth the radio-like device.
Chyron smiled. “Tell me human, how would you like to be the first human to meet the Princess of Equestria?”
“I would be honored.”
“Good. Then you are coming with me. Be warned though, the Princess is very powerful and very protective of her subjects. So I suggest you be on your best behavior.”
“Of course.”
The stallion changed shape, turning himself once more into the large feline. This time however, the feline was much larger.
“Get on. It will be faster if you ride me.”
The sniper gulped but obeyed, gingerly mounting the giant carnivore
With a roar, the giant cat leaped off towards Ponyville.
Within the space of a few minutes the feline and human arrived next to the Ponyville library. The human noticed that every single pony was staring warily at him.
“They're all staring at me...”
“Yes, I know. Behave yourself.”
The tiger knocked on the door of the library.
“Its open!”
The tiger walked in, followed by the human. Then the tiger stopped and pointed with a paw. “SIT!”
The human obeyed, dumbfounded at the amount of books inside a TREE of all places.
Then his jaw dropped as, down the stairs, came a violet colored unicorn, a purple and green lizard riding on the pony's back.
“Oh hello Chyron. How.....” The mare trailed off as her eyes wandered over to the human.
“Twilight, you need to tell Celestia to come to Ponyville immediately.”
When the mare continued to stare at the human, Chyron yelled. “TWILIGHT!”
The mare shook her head, and glanced at Spike. “Spike, take a letter.”
The dragon saluted and began writing.
“Chyron, who, what is this?!”
“This is a human, a being from my old home. I am going to go retrieve the other girls. Keep an eye on him please.”
“But I...”
“Twilight, I need you to trust me. Just watch him until I get back. And you, human, you may answer question she asks. But do NOT answer ANY questions about war. Understand?!”
The human nodded, still too dumbfounded to speak.
The tiger charged out of the library, intent on gathering the rest of the Elements of Harmony, just in case.
After a period of ten minutes, the tiger returned, Elements in tow.
“Now why tha hay did yah call us together sugarcube.”
Chyron merely pointed at the military garbed human.
The ponies skidded to a stop, staring at the human. Seconds later, Pinkie Pie bounced forwards, speaking a mile a minute.
“Hi there! I've never seen anything like you before! OHMYGOSH! You're NEW! And if you're new that means...”
Chyron sighed and grabbed his marefriend before she could go charging off to prepare a party. “Pinkie, sweetie, as much as I love your parties this is serious.”
Pinkie saluted and suddenly began staring intently at the human. “OKIE DOKIE LOKI!”
Chyron face-hoofed. “I will never understand her, but that's one of the reasons I love her.”
Pinkie giggled as her coltfriend nuzzled her, but she kept her eyes on the human.
“Has the princess replied yet Twilight?”
The lavender mare nodded. “She's on her way, she should be here in a few moments.”
“Good, I suggest bowing once the Princess arrives. Which reminds me, do you have a name, Human?”
“Jenkins, Sergeant Leeroy Jenkins.”
“It's good to meet you, under the circumstances.”
“Same.”
An awkward silence descended upon the tree-brary until a knock sounded on the front door.
Spike opened the door, then bowed as Princess Celestia trotted in.
“Twilight my faithful student, why am I being summoned....” The Princess trailed off as her eyes roamed over the human.
“A human. Yes, I am aware of your kind. I read Chyron's mind when he came to Canterlot a week ago. I was appalled at the horrors you committed against your own kind. Why are you here?”
“With all due respect your majesty, I'm just a scout.”
“I see. Is there a way to contact your leader?”
Jenkins nodded, placing the radio-like object on the table before him, and pressing a button. With a hum, a blue, translucent image of the General's head appeared above the device.
“Jenkins, good to see you soldier.”
“Sir, we have an issue. The world is inhabited by a sentient species.”
“I can see them soldier, they're standing right behind you.”
“Sir, I believe their leader would like to speak to you.”
“Well don't just sit there soldier! Move the holo-phone in front of her!”
Jenkins did as he was told and moved the holo-phone in front of Celestia.
“Greetings, Human. My name is Princess Celestia, and I am the sovereign power of the nation of Equestria.”
“I'm General Hargrave. I lead the United States of America's military. It's an honor to meet you your majesty. I hope we can find some way to open some sort of trade between our two peoples.”
“Indeed, however, I am afraid that cannot be possible. I have with me a former citizen of your world. I have read his mind and seen what your kind is capable of, both good and bad. I am afraid that it is in Equestria's best interest to remain separate from your people.”
The General smiled worriedly. “Surely there's something we can offer each other. Something you want?”
“There is one thing....”
“Name it.”
“Leave us alone. Retrieve your scout and destroy what ever means brought him here. As of this moment, I hereby declare that if another human sets foot upon sovereign Equestrian soil, I shall consider it an act of war. If that happens, I will not hesitate to make sure that your kind has no way of coming to Equestria. Is that understood?”
“Perfectly. It's a pity we couldn't find some way to work things out your majesty. Jenkins? Return to base-camp and pack up. We're bringing you home.” With that the image of the General winked out.
The sniper stood up. “Under the circumstances, it was an honor to meet you your majesty.”
“And you as well, Sergeant Jenkins.”
The sniper left the library walking towards the forest. As he approached the edge, his holo-phone buzzed. Jenkins withdrew the device, turning it on. “Are they still there Jenkins?”
“No sir.”
“Good, belay that last order Sergeant.”
“Sir?! If I do that we'll be committing war!”
“Affirmative Sergeant. America needs this land, and no sugary-ass, horn-winged pony freak is going to stop us! Your orders are to Assassinate the Princess. Is that understood?”
“Yes sir.”
“Good, we'll prepare the invasion force once we've gotten word that you've succeeded.”
Jenkins turned off the holo-phone, replacing it in his pocket. Then flopped to the ground as the weight of his orders hit him. Jenkins stood once more, resolving to defy his commanding officer. He knew now that his own kind was nothing but monsters. These ponies, these kind, innocent ponies didn't deserve to have their land ripped from them. They didn't deserve to be pillaged like nothing more then animals. Jenkins turned, and summoning all his strength, ran back towards the town.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Thank you for bringing him here Chyron, I truly appreciate your loyalty.”

“It's nothing Princess, Equestria is my home, now and forever.”

The Princess smiled and was about to reply when the door burst open. Jenkins skidded to a stop inside the library.

“HUMAN! What are you doing here! You were ordered to return home!”

“Your majesty, with all due respect I cannot go home. Not without you hearing me out.”

Celestia sighed. “Speak your piece human.”

“I'm just going to be blunt your majesty. I was ordered to kill you to pave the way for a human invasion force.”

The ponies gasped, Chyron shifting into a werewolf, Celestia's horn glowing with power at the Human's words.

The human pulled out his sniper rifle, ejected the cartridge and held the weapon, stock first, towards the Princess.

“What are you doing?!”

“Disobeying orders. I'm not going to kill you. I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused. You were right your majesty, Humans ARE monsters. I hereby place my fate in your hands -er- hooves.”

Celestia stared at the human, Chyron looking between the two.

“Human, I will give you two options.”

“I'm listening.”

“One: you return home, and d everything in your power to sabotage whatever force brought you here. Or two: You stay in Equestria, giving up all human technology, I turn you into a pony and you become a member of the Equestrian Royal Guard. That option still allows the humans to come here though.”

“I choose option two your majesty. As for my kind invading? I have an idea.”

“I am listening.”

“I 'fake' killing you. The General doesn't need to see me kill you, he just wants word that you're dead. When he opens the portal to bring me back in preparation for the invasion force, you send in Chyron. He's the only one who can guarantee the portal's destruction.”

“NO! You can't take my coltfriend away!” Pinkie squealed, latching onto the aforementioned shape-shifter.

Chyron looked down sadly. “Pinkie, I hate to say it, but he's right. I can destroy the portal and every trace of it ever having existed. They can never come here again.”

“But you'll be trapped there darling!”

“YEAH! What Rarity said!” Rainbow interjected.

“Please, don't leave me.” Pinkie said, giving Chyron her saddest face.

“I have to sweetie. But I swear to you, no matter what. I WILL find a way back, I promise.”

“Pinkie Promise?!”

“Cross my heart, hope to fly, Stick a cupcake in my eye.”

The pink pony released the shape-shifter and stared at him sadly. “I'll miss you. Please hurry back.”

“Of course.”

“Jenkins, where do you need to be to 'fake' my death?”

“The best place would be near the edge of your forest, I suggest you come with me and Chyron so we can complete my conditions for staying here.”

“Agreed. Human, clear your mind I will teleport us there.”

“OK.”

“One second Princess.” Chyron said. “Girls? Take care of Pinkie while I'm gone ok?”

The girls nodded sadly, not wanting to see their friend go, but understanding what he had to do.

Chyron nodded at the Princess, and with a flash of light the trio vanished. The last thing Chyron saw broke his heart. He saw Pinkie's mane deflate and her colors become a dull, dark pink.

With a clap of thunder, the trio reappeared at the edge of the forest.

“Stand back, I'm going to contact the General.” Jenkins sad as he pulled out the holo-phone, ensuring that the ponies weren't in sight.

Within seconds the General's head appeared above the device. “Is it done?”

“Yes sir.” Jenkins lied, ensuring to keep his voice carefully neutral.

“Good, I'm opening the portal. I'll see you when you arrive. In three days we will invade. America will have the resources to be the dominant power again soon.”

“Yes sir.” Jenkins replied, turning off the device.

“Destroy that device.” Celestia said.

“Can't, they're probably monitoring this thing, if it's destroyed they may suspect something's up. Chyron, I'm going to put every piece of human technology in my duffel. Disguise yourself as me and carry it with you through the portal. That will make it more convincing.”

“Agreed.” The shape-shifter replied as he transformed into a perfect copy of the Sergeant, minus the eyes.

Jenkins began placing everything on him into the duffel brought over with him through the portal, within minutes the soldier was wearing nothing more than a white t-shirt and a pair of gray shorts.

“All right Princess. I'm ready.”

“Hold still.” The Princess replied, her horn glowing with power. A golden beam of energy burst forth from her horn, slamming into the human like a torrent of water. The golden energy engulfed the human shrouding him in light. Within moments, the light faded and a pony stood where the human once was. He was a pegasus, his coat a deep forest-green, his mane a dull beige.

“Your majesty?” The now ponyfied Jenkins asked. “With all due respect, why did one of your conditions include me becoming a member of the Royal Guard?”

“I thought you might like a job that most closely resembled the one you had as a human, that and I can keep a close eye on you.”

“I understand.”

Suddenly a swirling portal opened up nearby, and the trio looked towards it.

“That's your queue Chyron.”

“This is good-bye is suppose. I just hope it's not permanent, I'd hate to have to break a Pinkie Promise.”

With that, the pseudo-Jenkins picked up the duffel bag and walked through the portal.

“Come my little pony, we must return to Ponyville for a brief time.” The Princess said, lighting her horn for a teleport.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chyron held a hand over his eyes, grimacing at the glare.
“Lights down boys, it's him. Sorry for the rough entrance Jenkins, but we couldn't risk them finding out too early.”
Chyron nodded, grinning. He took two steps away from the portal, then stopped.
He dropped the duffel and shifted, roaring with anger at being forced to be separated form his friends and marefriend.
He felt his legs melt ad shift, becoming a swirling vortex of lava and fire. His body rose and became wider, retaining the essence of magma. Two fiery wings erupted from his back, while his hands became molten claws. His face turned into a facsimile of a skull. With a roar, the manifestation of rage turned on the portal, smashing fists of liquid fire into it. Chyron cackled slightly as it exploded. Then he turned towards the stunned scientists and General.
“Remember me? General?! Now you shall pay for what you did to me, what you made me! NOW YOU SHALL PAY FOR THREATENING MY HOME!” Chyron roared, lurching forwards, destroying everything in his wake. Everything burned and melted, anything that opposed him died a fiery death.
In the space of an hour the entire military instillation was nothing more then molten slag. And in the laboratory, where the portal to Equestria once stood, sulked the fiery, rage-filled form of Chyron. As he wept tears of lava over his lost home, Chyron vowed that he would find a way to return. Rearing up, Chyron roared his challenge into the slagged remnants of the base.
(AN: Cliffhanger punks! But worry not, the story will not end here. Sorry for the brief Dark moment there, but if you just lost your home and loved ones you'd go a little murdery too. The molten lord of magma is Ragnaros the Fire Lord. Fitting for a fit of rage. Hope you enjoyed this. BTW you WILL see Jenkins again.)
Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Chyron sat sulking in the remnants of the base glaring at a small, innocent looking pitch-black diamond. It had been exactly one month since he had utterly destroyed any chance of the Humans ever making it to Equestria, and as he glared at the Gem he recalled when he had found the accursed thing, wincing as he felt another sliver of sanity slip away.
Flashback
Chyron rummaged through the debris surrounding what was left of the portal device, hoping beyond hope that there was some way that he could rebuild it. Sighing with remorse, the shape-shifter released the destroyed parts from his grasp realizing he had done too good a job. Then, something caught his eye, curious Chyron bent down and removed the rubble covering the thing.
He gasped as he saw a small fist-sized pitch-black diamond shaped like one of the diamonds on Rarity's cutie mark. As if sensing his presence the dark gem began floating, an aura of darkness permeating its form, its every facet seeming to ooze evil. Chyron, cautiously touched the gem.
Milliseconds later, he dropped the vile thing, gasping. But in those mere scant moments he had held the object he felt something. He felt a vast, unknowable force that was using the gem as a vessel for its malevolent presence. He had gotten the sense of a thing so ancient that it made all of reality seem like a mere newborn by comparison. The monstrous Eldritch horror had brushed his mind, and with it came a feeling of hopelessness and depression. A small niggling voice had sprang to being in his mind in those scant moments. This voice spoke of his home and how he would never see it again, that his friends were nothing but dust and ash, that everything he loved would perish in darkness.
End Flashback
It had been a month since he found the Gem. And though he made every effort to avoid touching the thing, he knew that this was the main reason the Humans had made a portal to Equestria. He knew that this horrible object was his only life-line. But during the times he touched it, he had felt the Eldritch being establish a tiny foothold in the depths of his mind, beginning a war of attrition of his very sanity.
Piece by piece, moment by moment he felt his sanity slip away. So far the only thing that had kept him from becoming a pawn in the dark being's grasp was the knowledge that he would go home. That he would see his friends and marefriend soon.
He knew that it had to be done today, lest his mind become so fractured by the Being's dark powers that he would not be able to shift, let alone be able to make it home.
So with that in mind, Chyron shape-shifted into an ethereal form that seemed to waver and fade, as if the thing didn't belong here. He smiled as he moved about in the form of a predator that hunted on the very edges of Black-Holes. With a shudder, Chyron picked up the gem, holding it in his wispy grasp.
With the Eldritch horror's voice at its full peak, Chyron knew he had to hurry. He floated to the midst of the room, beginning to spin himself around in a circle, the circle quickly becoming tighter and tighter. The wispy creatures form moved faster and faster, until it began to move faster then the eye could perceive. Then, as if defying the laws of motion, Chyron's form slowed and shifted to a shade of red unseen in anyplace but a Black-Hole.
With a flash of relativistic light, Chyron vanished, taking with him nothing but himself and the vessel of a dark and terrible Horror. As he vanished, Chyron could hear the dark voice chuckle and speak three words: “Just as planned.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Twilight Sparkle sighed, as she walked towards Sugarcube corner with her friends and assistant. “Come on girls, I know it's been a month, but we promised Chyron we'd look after Pinkie until he got back.”

“Yer right sugarcube, I ain't seen Pinkie in three days.”

Together the group of friends walked into the bakery. “Hello dearies!” Mrs. Cake said.

“Mrs. Cake, can we talk to Pinkie?”

“I'll try to get her to come down here, she just hasn't been the same since Chyron left.”

“I know, but we're going to try to cheer her up.”

“All right, I'll be right back.” The mare said as she ascended the stairs towards Pinkie's room. Moments later the married mare returned with the Pinkie in tow. The Pink pony looked depressed, her mane had gone flat since Chyron had left and her colors had become dull and subdued.

“Try your best please, I hate to see her like this.” Mrs. Cake whispered to the girls.

Twilight was about to reply, when the door to the bakery burst open, and a colt that they hadn't seen for a month skidded in. Like a spring recoiling from being pressed, Pinkie bounced back to her lively, lovable self and promptly leaped upon the silver colt.

“CHYRON!!!!!” The group cheered along with their friend.

Pinkie got off her coltfriend when she noticed him acting very strange, he was curled up into a ball, his eyes lined with veins and a noticeable look of insanity within them. He was also shaking profusely and muttering one phrase over and over.

“Voices! Make them stop, please make them stop! The voices!”

“Chyron?!” Twilight asked hesitantly. She reared back as he looked up and she clearly saw a look of near-insanity in his eyes. She also noticed that his eyes where turning a brilliant yellow around the edges.

“TWILIGHT! Trouble, bad! Death! Darkness, the voices tell me! All become chaos! Princess! HERE!”

“Chyron, what's wrong?!” Pinkie asked, clearly concerned for the unusual state of her coltfriend.

“Voices in my head! Saying terrible, dark things! Make it stop! Need Princess! Only she can help!”

Twilight nodded, levitating a piece of paper before her, frantically writing a short note before giving it to Spike. With a flash of green fire, the baby dragon sent the letter to Celestia.

“What happened to you darling?! What horrible thing could have caused this?!”

“YEAH! What the hay colt!”

Twilight then noticed an unusual gem floating next to one of Chyron's hooves, as she stared at the gem she couldn't help but feel a sense of revulsion and horror from just looking at the item. But she also felt a strange sense of attraction, as if the gem wanted her to take it, to hold it, to touch it. Slowly the lavender mare reached towards the gem as if hypnotized. She was stopped by Chyron grabbing the gem with her hoof, and Twilight shook her head free of the gem's hypnotic effects.

“No! Don't touch, bad things! Dark power! All will be ashes!”

“What are you....” Twilight began, when a flash of golden light interrupted her.

“Twilight, I got your message, what is going on here?”

“Chyron's back, but he's acting really strange, and he has this odd gem.”

Twilight noticed her teacher's eyes narrow.

The Princess trotted towards Chyron, who merely continued his crazed ravings about a dark, terrible voice. “Chyron, show me this gem, please.”

Chyron shivered and shook his head, muttering madly. “NO! Too dark! It's beyond me, beyond you! Beyond space, beyond time, beyond ALL!”

Celestia, gently lifted Chyron's head with a golden clad hoof. “Chyron, show me.”

Chyron shivered again, and the group noticed a fragment of lucidity enter his eyes. Slowly, the silver colt held out a trembling hoof, the large, pitch-black diamond floating innocently above it.

Twilight gaped at the diamond, once again feeling a tiny voice whispering in her mind to take the gem. Then she noticed a look come across her Teacher's face that she had never seen before. For the briefest of instants, Celestia's regal composure had twisted into a visage of pure hatred, but like dust in the wind, the look vanished replaced once more with a calm demeanor.

With a glow of her horn, Celestia levitated five necklaces and a tiara to their respective owners. “I brought the Elements, just in case. I'd like you to use them on the Gem. Chyron, please place the gem on the ground.”

The silver colt did as he was told, then moved beside the Princess with halting, whimpering motions, as if he was barely with holding himself from the alluring call of the gem.

The girls gathered in a circle, Twilight at their fore-front. Then, the Elements shone with a brilliant glory, a beam of Harmonic energies bursting forth from their ranks and slamming the full unbridled force of friendship into the diamond.... and doing absolutely nothing.

“It is as I feared, not even the current bearers of the Elements can destroy this evil.”

“Celestia! What the hay IS that thing?!”

Celestia opened her mouth to speak, but was stopped as the gem pulsed and a terrifying voice emanated from the gem. At the exact moment the voice spoke, three things happened simultaneously: Every glass object within two hundred feet shattered into tiny pieces; the floor beneath the gem ruptured into a spider web of cracks; and every pony, minus the Princess, collapsed as their ears, eyes, and nose all began bleeding.

“Foolish Celestia.”

“Yngsauthule.” (Ing zau thool)

“I see you remember me.”

“How could I not! You corrupted Mine and Luna's Brother! You turned a once noble Alicorn into nothing more than your pawn for chaos! You created Discord from Him! Then you sent tendrils of your darkness into my sister, creating the beast that would form into Nightmare Moon!”

“Ah yes, such dark deeds pleased me. Did you really think that you could get rid of me that easily?! You only sent me away! I found a new host, and I returned here! Now this world shall fall before my darkness!”

“Not today. I will banish you again, Yngsauthule!”

“You realize that my return is inevitable, do you not? Your world is the last bastion of innocence left in the universe. When I return your world shall fall! Then all of reality will rejoice under my reign of chaos!”

“Perhaps, but while our world still holds true to the powers of Friendship, you shall not win! This time I will not make the same mistake again, I hope you enjoy being trapped at the heart of a dead star.”

“Make no mistake, pitiful Celestia. I will return!”

Celestia smiled, her horn glowing with a long-distance teleportation spell. “Farewell, Elder God.”

The gem banished, banished to the heart of a dead sun, trapped until something found it again.

Chyron shivered and collapsed still muttering about the dark and terrible voice.

“My faithful student, unless you wish to see your friend become another Discord, I highly suggest you use the Elements to cleanse Chyron of Yngsauthule's evil grasp.”

The friends nodded, lending their energy to power the might of the Elements once more. The beam impacted the shape-shifter, engulfing him in purifying light. When the light cleared, the friends saw Chyron sit up and gingerly rub his head.

“I'M FREE! No more freaky voice in my head!” He said. Then he found himself tackled by six ponies, all of them crushing him with their hugs, but none more so then a certain pink pony.

“Glad to have you back Chyron!” Twilight said.

“Glad to be back, sorry for all the trouble your majesty. I just wanted to come home, I didn't realize that's what that thing WANTED me to do.”

“It's quite all right my subject, tell me Chyron, have you learned anything from this experience?”

“Yeah, never pick up ominously glowing gems.”

The ponies laughed at Chyron's sarcastic wisdom, glad to have their friend back after a month of him being gone.

(AN: There yah go. This story's wrapping up fairly soon. A couple more chapters and I can feel good about bringing it to an end. But until that time, please enjoy.)

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Chyron munched his salad enjoying the time with his friends and marefriend, but his mind was not on the present, it was somewhere in the future, contemplating a surprise.

Pinkie noticed her coltfriend's distant look, deciding he needed cheering up, she nuzzled him. “Whatcha thinkin' about?”

“Well, I had this idea for a surprise I wanted to do for you, but I don't know exactly HOW I'm going to do it.”

“Silly! You don't have to do a surprise for ME!”

Chyron smiled, nuzzling his marefriend lovingly. “I may not have to, but this is something I WANT to do. I just can't quite figure out HOW.”

“Why don't you do it during Nightmare Night, it's only a few days away after all.”

Chyron's eyes brightened and he looked happy, as if a proverbial light bulb had turned on in his mind.

“How many days away is Nightmare Night exactly?”

“Three.” Twilight replied.

Chyron turned to stare at his marefriend with a completely serious look on his face.

“Pinkie, I'm going to need you to tell the Cakes that I'm going to need the next three days off.”

“Okie Dokie Lokie!”

Chyron nuzzled his marefriend, then shifted himself into a navy-blue hedgehog wearing red shoes that had a white stripe running across them. “I'm sorry girls, but I have to go, I only have three days too prepare after all.”

The girls barely got to say goodbye before the hedgehog curled into a ball, spinning in place as a plume of dust formed behind him a high-pitched revving sound filing the air.

Then with a blast of wind, and a blur of blue, Chyron blazed off towards the forest.

Two days later

It had taken him two days to find all the materials he needed but now, he was ready. Chyron glared at his hand, smiling as it changed to a molten red, forming a living inferno hot enough to melt steel. Then he turned to his other hand, watching as it formed  a box-like shape, but curiously the box was hollow, filled with a circular design.

The blazing hand's tips extinguished themselves for a moment as Chyron picked a bit-sized Sapphire off the ground pressing it against the box-shape of the other hand.

Chyron grimaced slightly as the Sapphire was drawn into the box, added to the circular design. Then re-igniting the tips, he gently picked up a rock that lay nearby. Slowly the innocent looking rock turned orange, then yellow, then finally it turned into a brilliant white, the edges cracking and the precious metal within pouring out into a hole on top of the box-hand. The molten gold flowed into the box, filling the mold within perfectly, forming the shape of a hoof-ring.

After several hours of waiting, Chyron, slowly gently shape-shifted the box away from the now-solidified hoof-ring.

Chyron smiled at his creation, gently placing it in its velvet lined cradle that he had ordered from Rarity. Fortunately he had made her Pinkie swear to keep silent until tomorrow. Chyron once again looked over his design, wanting to make sure he had gotten it right.

The ring round but the middle had small holes in it, the gold looking like it was braided into shape. At the top center sat the Sapphire had had found earlier, the gold of the ring curling over the top and sides of it in an elegant formation, making the oval Sapphire look for all the world like a shimmering blue balloon amidst a sea of twisting gold.

Gently, Chyron closed the top of the velvet-lined box, holding his ring safely within his grasp, He shifted again and took off towards Ponyville.

Nightmare Night

Princess Luna smiled as the town that had feared, then loved her last year cheered her name. She smiled again, as she noticed that a pinto colored colt was cheering the loudest. Inhaling, She prepared to greet the town. She spoke, her voice echoing with the power of Royal Canterlot Voice. “Citizens of Ponyville! Your Princess of the Night has returned once more to celebrate her Holiday! Let Nightmare Night commence!

Luna trotted off the stage. She spied the Elements of Harmony nearby, stifling a giggle as she noticed that Fluttershy, dressed as a Rhododendron bush, huddled comfortingly against a shadow-bolt clad Rainbow Dash. She spied a Scarecrow Applejack, and nearly laughed out loud at Rarity's Princess costume. She noticed that Twilight was dressed as Star-swirl again, Spike having dressed as a dragon once more. But it was the Element of Laughter's costume that made her want to fall over from laughing. For this Nightmare Night, Pinkie had dressed up as Chancellor Pudding Head. She approached the group, speaking. “HAIL! I mean, hail.”

The Elements bowed in respect. It was then that Luna noticed that the group was missing somepony, specifically a silver colt that should have been standing next to Pinkie Pie.

“Pinkie Pie where is thine coltfriend?”

“Oh! He's waiting for the costume contest! He signed up for the scariest costume this year!”

“I see. And when does that occur?”

As if to answer her question, The Mayor, Dressed as a zom-pony, came up to the stage and announced: “Would all contestants for the costume contest please come to the stage, And would Princess Luna please do the honor of being Judge?” The mayor paused a moment, then her jaw slackened as she gurgled: “BRAIIIIINNNNSSSSS.”

Luna giggled slightly as she trotted forwards, taking a seat at the front, ensuring that The Elements were next to her. The ponies cheered as the zom-pony mayor began calling out names.

At least twenty ponies passed, the group enjoying each one. Luna laughed aloud at Derpy's muffin costume and cheered at Time Turner's infallible Doctor Whooves impression. Then the mayor announced a final name. “Our final entry for scariest costume is Chyron!”

The curtains opened to reveal, nothing. Darkness greeted the mayor, she blinked an announced again. “Chyron? Please come to the stage.”

Silence greeted her request, the mayor opened her mouth to ask another time, but was greeted by screams of horror from the crowd. Even Princess Luna was looking pale and frightened. Feeling like she was being watched, the mayor slowly turned only to find her gaze veering up.

The thing that occupied the stage was easily the size of an Ursa Major, its body was snake-like. It had a long reptilian tail that ended in a crab-like claw colored a brutal shade not unlike that of dried blood.

The creature looked down and flexed its six arms, each one a gleaming, razor-sharp scythe of bone. Its head was the size of the princess, large pincers adorned each side of its mouth, slowly shifting and enhancing the row of thin, dagger-like teeth.

The head leaned down further, the enormous beast was now looking at the mayor, its red eyes glaring at her, the cat-like pupils narrowing.

Suddenly the creature reared up and screamed to the heavens, the noise not unlike that of a thousand rusty gates swinging in time to that of nails-on-chalkboard. The beats spread its scythe arms and screamed again, the horrible noise echoing frightfully through all of Ponyville.

Luna gulped audibly in the deathly silence. “We declare Chyron to be the winner of the scariest costume.

The creature nodded, shrinking and changing until the familiar form of Chyron's pony form stood in it's place.  Chyron gently nudged the zom-pony mayor out of the way, speaking into the microphone. “Before I leave the stage there is something I'd like to do. I'd like to ask Pinkie Pie to come to the stage please.”

Curious, the Pink Pony hopped forwards until she was on the stage with her coltfriend. The silver colored colt turned towards his Pink marefriend, still speaking into the microphone. “Pinkie, I know we've been together a while now, but lately  I've been thinking. I don't know how I know, but I feel that we're going to be together for the rest of our lives. I just wanted to ask you one simple question, to which I hope you'll say yes.” Chyron pulled forth his velvet lined box, opening it and holding it forth. “Pinkamena Diane Pie, Will you Marry me?”

The town grew deathly silent as it awaited the answer from the pink mare. Pinkie quivered in place, joy filling her very being. With a scream of pure joy, she shot up into the air a stream of pink following her wake, then an explosion of pink surrounded her before she zoomed back to the ground, tackling her coltfriend nearly knocking the hoof-ring out of his grasp. While nuzzling Chyron Pinkie screamed loud enough for the microphone to pick up and transmit to all of Ponyville. “YES!!!!!!!”

Like a roaring wave, the entirety of Ponyville cheered for the happy couple, their hooves thundering the ground in applause.

Together the pair left the stage and joined their friends who were issuing heart-felt congratulations. Then they eagerly joined in the festivities, Rarity practically swooning over the design of the hoof-ring.

Somewhere near the edges of the galaxy.

A crude, blocky ship, looking like it had been cobbled together from scraps and junk. Seeming like it could barely fly, much less survive the rigors of space travel, slowed as a port on it's side opened long for a few brief seconds to engulf a few asteroids.

Within the ship a large number of bulky green beings stood, each was wearing cobbled-together armor, outfitted with spikes and painted with frightening red teeth and skulls. One of the green beings, larger than the others strode forwards, the deck thudding with his every step. Slowly the beast leaned down and picked up an innocent looking, pitch-black diamond. As the creature held the gem, images assaulted its mind, images of a star chart, and at the end of that chart the beast saw an image of a lush green world. A sinuous voice from within the gem told the beast that violence, death and blood could be his, if only he destroyed that pitiful world.

The green brute looked, up, his once blazing red eyes changed to a soulless black. Then then creature reared out its arms screaming a war-cry the others of its kind joining him. The entire ship shook with the ferocity of this one, single cry: “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!”

As the ship's engines flared in bright ignition. The gem within chuckled and uttered one word. “Soon.”

(AN: Done. The blue hedgehog is Sonic. The Nightmare Night costume is a Tyranid Trigon. As before tell me what you think. P.S. Sorry for the short chapter.)

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

A full year has passed since Chyron asked Pinkie to marry him, now the couple are happily married and living together in Pinkie's room in the Sugarcube corner. A surprising revelation came to the pair of ponies not a month before, the Cakes retired, leaving the running of the bakery to the pair of ponies.

Chyron looked on with concern as his wife of four months leaned over a toilet emptying her stomach of it's contents. “Pinkie, are you alright sweetie? This is the third time this week you've thrown up in the morning. You might be sick. Take the day off and go get yourself checked out alright?”

“But I need to be here to help run the shop!”

“Pinkie, darling. I know you want to help, but your health is more important. Please, go see a doctor.”

Pinkie slowly removed her head from the toilet bowl, wiping her mouth free of bile she leaned over and nuzzled her husband. “Your such a good hubby! Take good care of the shop while I'm out!”

“Will do Pinkie, you go make sure you're not getting sick.”

Pinkie nodded and walked downstairs, slowly trotting out the door, rather than her usual bounce.

Chyron sighed, sincerely hoping his wife was alright.

The bell above the door jingled as a costumer entered.

Chyron smiled at the sight of his shy pegasus friend. “Hey there Fluttershy. What can I get for you?”

“Oh, uhm I actually wanted to talk to Pinkie.”

“Sorry 'Shy, she's headed to the doctor's.”

“Oh my! Is she alright?!”

“I hope so, say you're good with critters. You think you could help me figure out what's wrong?”

“Maybe.... Can you tell me what's going on?”

“Well, for the past three days she's been sick to her stomach in the mornings, and yesterday she complained of a slight stomach cramp.”

Fluttershy, having taken care of so many animal friends new at once what the problem, or blessing was. She wanted to tell him, but thought the news would be better received if it came from Pinkie herself. So she just smiled a knowing smile and replied. “Oh uhm, I DO know what's wrong, but it think you should wait for Pinkie to get back from the doctor's.”

Chyron sighed morosely. “Thanks anyways Fluttershy, you sure you don't want to buy a cupcake?”

“Oh uhm, maybe just one....”

Meanwhile, at the Doctor's office.

“So, misses Pie, can you tell me what seems to be the problem?”

“Well I've been throwing up in the mornings for the past three days, and yesterday I had a stomach cramp.”

The Doctor smiled, knowing exactly what was going on with the pink earth mare.

“Well, I think I know what might be causing this, but just to be sure, I'm going to need to take a small blood sample.”

The Doctor levitated a syringe, gently floating it over to the pink mare's foreleg.

“Just hold still, this will only hurt for a moment.”

The doctor gently pushed the syringe into the foreleg, withdrawing a small amount of blood, then he withdrew the syringe, placing a band-aid over the needle-prick.

“Wait here one moment misses Pie.”

The doctor left the waiting room to test the blood sample. Pinkie lay on the table, glancing at various posters along the wall, her eyes darting across other nick-knacks on the counters.

Moments later, the doctor returned, levitating a clipboard with the results of the blood test written on it.

“Well misses Pie, I have some very good news for you! According to the blood test, you're perfectly fine!”

“Then why do I feel all sicky in the mornings?!”

“That's perfectly normal for a mare that's three and a half months pregnant.”

Pinkie blinked as the doctors word hit her like a ton of bricks, slowly and enormous smile grew on her face, she asked a question, her voice cracking from joy. “I'm going to be a mommy?!”

“That you are misses Pie, now before you do anything rash, I would like to give you a few pieces of advice. Please try to refrain from bouncing until after the foal is born, we wouldn't want to harm the little one inside you after all. I also suggest eating more than normal as a large amount of the nutrients you get from food will go to your growing foal.”

“Okie dokie loki!”

“I can't wait to tell Chyron! He'll be so happy!”

The doctor chuckled. “I'm sure he will. Now off you go misses Pie, you have some very good news to give to your husband.”

Pinkie nodded, and was about to bounce happily out the door when she remembered the Doctor's advice. Instead the very happy mare skipped merrily out the door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chyron was startled when the door to the bakery burst open, he almost dropped the batch of muffins (made by special request for the mail-mare, Ditzy).  He looked up to kindly ask the pony not to do that again when he noticed it was his wife, happily trotting towards him.
“Hey there my cotton candy lover! How did your appointment go?”
Humming happily the pink earth mare nuzzled her husband roughly.
With a light blush on his cheeks, Chyron asked. “Well now, not that I'm complaining, but what's all this about?”
“I've got a surprise for you....!” The pink mare sang jauntily.
“Well don't hold out on me! Tell me what it is!”
The pink mare opened her mouth to tell her husband the wonderful news when they were interrupted by an out of breath Twilight running into the shop.
“Pinkie, Chyron! The princess needs to speak with you both in the library!”
“Tell me the surprise later Pinks. This sounds important.”
Together the three of them ran towards the library, Chyron carrying Twilight when she collapsed mere feet from the entrance.
The trio entered the library only to find the Princess speaking to the other elements of harmony.
“Princess, what's this about?!” Chyron asked.
“I cannot tell you, instead I must show you.”
The Princess' horn flared and instead of the library, the group was suddenly engulfed in a vision showing the orbit around Equestria.
Pinkie noticed it first. “What's that?!”
“That is why I called all of you here. It is a fleet of ships designed to fly in space, and amongst them I sensed an evil presence that could belong to none other than Yngsauthule.”
“That jerk?! I thought you banished him to the edge of the universe!”
“I did, it seems something found him.”
Suddenly the vision zoomed in, showing the leader of the twenty ships. The lead ship, and all the ships following it were ramshackle things, looking cobbled together out of pieces of junk and bits of trash. Frightening spikes and garish red skulls decorated their hodge-podge hulls.
“Orks.” Chyron muttered.
“You know these creatures?” Celestia asked, clearly astonished.
“Yes, and let me warn you Orks know nothing but war, they live, breath, and walk war. All they know how to do is fight and die. If they're being led here by Yngsauthule, then they will stop at nothing until all of this world is nothing more than a charred husk.”
“What of the Elements of Harmony?” Twilight asked.
“I hate to say it, but I don't think even THEY can stop the Orks.”
“Chyron, You cannot allow these creatures to set foot on our world, if they do....” Celestia said, purposefully dropping the final words off.
“I know, I'll take care of them your majesty. But, I need permission to kill them all....”
“You have it.”
“And one other thing. I think I have an idea to ensure that Yngsauthule can never bother us again. Do I have your permission to enact that plan as well?”
“You do.”
“Thanks.”
The group followed as Chyron trotted out the door. The Shape-shifter transformed himself into a great serpent, his body green with gold symbols running down the sides. The head was blocky but one fin stuck out from each side of the serpent's head. It also had two arms each ending ind a hand tipped with three claws.
The serpent looked upon its friends, trying to think of something to say.
Then Pinkie Pie trotted forwards, tears in her eyes. “Please, come back, for me. For us.” As the Pink mare said this final part, she laid a hoof on her stomach.
“Pinky?!”
“That's the surprise I was going to tell you earlier. I'm pregnant.”
The serpent looked dumbfounded, but then smiled. “Pinkie that's amazing news.”
“Please come back. I don't want our foal to grow up without a father.”
Chryon's eyes hardened. “Pinkie. I swear to you, I will not allow these creatures to set so much as a foot on this world. But I also swear that I will come back, I will not allow my.... our foal to grow up a bastard.”
“Pinkie Swear?!”
“Cross my heart, Hope to fly, Stick a cupcake in my eye. Twilight, Fluttershy? Just in case I don't make it, take care of my wife and our foal.”
The two ponies nodded, sad to see their friend go, but knowing it was necessary.
Rainbow flew up to Chyron's serpentine head and looked at him in the eye angrily. “You better come back, I'll hunt you down beyond the grave if you don't.”
“I'll try.”
“Kick some flank.”
“You got it.”
With that, the emerald serpent of the skies flew towards the threat to his home, steel in his heart and fire in his eyes.
Chyron flew higher and higher, then suddenly the sky grew black, and the air vanished.
As Chyron looked upon his home, he shed a single tear, which froze instantly in the void of space. 'Don't worry Princess, I won't let the Orks ravage Equestria.' He thought as he turned towards the fleet.
With a silent roar, Chyron blasted off towards the Orks, charging a beam of energy in his mouth as he did so.
As he got closer he let loose his rage, firing the energy blast into one of the ships. Like a hot knife through butter the beam scythed through the ship disintegrating it.
Five more times did Chyron fire the deadly beam of energy, and five more ships exploded in shards of metal and charred bodies.
Shifting his form again, he changed into a great predator of the void of space. With another silent roar, Chyron fell upon another of the ships claws rending, mouth biting.
Chyron lurched sideways as something smashed into him. Looking around he spied the offending party and fired a blast of his own, obliterating the fiend.
Returning to the injured ship he was was tearing apart, Chyron tore a hole directly to the warp-drive.
Swiftly, Chyron placed a claw upon the device, changing his form to a being of pure energy and data.
Within the engine's tumultuous ocean of data, Chyron shredded lines of code and tore apart programs. Finally finding what he sought Chyron twisted the line of code until it was corrupted. The line of code sparked and shivered, other nearby lines mutating until within moments all of them resembled the first line. Knowing what was to come, Chyron fled the data-banks of the warp-drive changing his form into a being of solid diamond and adamantium.
Moments later the entirety of the night sky was lit with colors beyond those of the mortal ken, reality rippling and changing in it's wake. Fortunately for Chyron, the blast of unreal energies had utterly destroyed the fleet, making them nothing more then drifting husks.
Slowly shifting into a space-squid, Chyron looked around. Only one ship had escaped the blast, but not without damage as it was limping towards Equestria with a slowness that made Tank seem fast. Chyron smiled, changing himself slightly, he sent out an echo pulse of sorts. When the pulse returned, he smiled when he saw that except for the one limping its way towards is home, only three of the ships had survived with life intact.
To ensure that the vile Orks would never repair their ships and attempt to attack, Chyron Ripped the engines off of them, then using his tentacles hurled the ships with all his might towards the inexorable grip of Equestria's sun. After ensuring that the derelicts would indeed plunge into the fiery inferno of the Sun, Chyron swam towards the slowly limping ship. Using his echo pulse, Chyron found that only a paltry number of Orks remained on the wounded vessel.
Thirty Orks against him. He chuckled silently into the void of space as he found he felt sorry for the piss-poor odds of the Orks. But he also knew that if he let them, they would swiftly rebuild their numbers and at the speed at which they were heading to his home, by the time they crash-landed, at least a hundred more Orks would be ready for battle.
Knowing what he had to do, Chyron shifted his body into liquid shadow and seeped into one of the numerous cracks dotting the injured ship.
Inside the ship a group of Orks was arguing when suddenly a pool of shadow engulfed one of them. The hapless Orks stared in horror as the poor Orks' skin melted off and his bones dissolved into dust. They watched as the pool of shadow reformed and changed into a hulking wolf-like creature that filled the entire hall, it's body rippling with muscle and sinew. The wolf roared savagely and charged in great clawed hand rending three Orks in twain with one swipe.
Some of the Orks were lucky enough to bring their weapons to bear on the beast opening fire in an instant. They screamed in terror as their bullets did nothing more than bounce off, the impacts creating dimples in the skin of the wolf-beast.
With another savage roar the Lupine horror tore the Orks to shreds, heading towards the bridge of the ship, but on the way, ensuring that he left no Ork alive. Finally he reached the bridge and spied the Ork chieftain kicking his underling towards him. The wolf beast shredded the paltry resistance with ease and proceeded to gut the chieftain. After a few moments every single Ork on the vessel was dead. As he looked upon the carnage he had wrought, Chyron couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt over killing them, even if it was the right thing to do.
“You were a fool to come here, shape-shifter.” An ominous voice said.
“Yngsauthule, I would say it's a pleasure to see you again, but then I'd be lying.”
The dark voice chuckled as Chyron picked up the innocent looking gem. Chyron, an idea coming to his mind, strode over to the control panel for the engines and set them to self-destruct.
“You're even more foolish than I thought. Picking me up?! You have merely allowed me access to your mind.”
“Not this time I'm afraid, see where I come from the Orks are characters of fiction. And if they exist, why not other beings too?”
“What?! You can't mean....”
“Oh I do...” Chyron said, closing his eyes and concentrating.
“No, I will not be banished again! NO! NOOOOO!!!!”
A dark presence forced itself in his mind in a desperate attempt to force Chyron to stop. Yngsauthule was about to succeed when suddenly a calm, gentle voice like the chiming of peaceful bells entered Chyron's mind as well. “Corrupter, this being has called for our aid, we shall not allow you to have him or his world.”
“NO! You can't You aren't allowed to kill!”
“Perhaps not, but acting through this one, we can destroy your vessel.”
Chyron's eyes opened, glowing with golden light brighter than a thousand suns. His clawed hands emanated the same unfathomable power, and with a blast of golden light, the dark crystal shattered, utterly destroyed. Chyron slumped to the deck, swiftly loosing consciousness as exhaustion took him. The last thing he heard was the peaceful chimes of the gentle voice echoing in his mind. “Fear not, you are safe with us.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One week later.

Celestia smiled, glad that the threat to the world at large was gone, but in her heart she was sad for the Element of Laughter and her unborn child. She pitied the foal, knowing that it would grow up without ever knowing it's father.

Suddenly a glowing orb of light entered her Royal chambers, the guards beside her springing to readiness in an instant.

Celestia smiled, know what it was, getting up from her throne, she held up a hoof. “Stand down.”

The moment the guards lowered their spears, the ball of light formed itself into a creature made up of golden floating runes. A pair of runes that looked suspiciously like eyes gazed upon the sun goddess.

“G'ture. How pleasant to see you again my brother.”

A gentle, peaceful chiming filled the air, a calm, serene voice coming from the creature. “C'l's'tia, Sister. It has indeed been a long time since any if the Naaru graced the world you chose to guard.”

“Indeed it has brother.”

“And how is L'na?”

“Better, she has recovered from the dark whisperings of the corrupter. But enough chit-chat, please, brother, tell me why you are here. What could bring a Naaru to my peaceful world?”

“I merely come to return one of yours, that in his time of need called to us. Through him, we have destroyed the corrupter's vessel.”

“Truly! That is wondrous news!”

“Yes, C'l's'tia take care of this one, he has done a great thing.”

“I will.”

As abruptly as it came, the Naaru vanished in a flash of light, leaving behind a silver colt with a neon-orange mane. Celestia smiled, knowing that Pinkie Pie would be overjoyed to see her husband again.

Using her magic, she wrote a letter to Twilight, then sending it on it's way she flared her horn and vanished in a clap of teleportation, taking the sleeping body of Chyron with her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chyron wearily opened his eyes. Only to find a pair of brilliant sapphire blue ones staring back.
“Hey there Pinks.”
“YOU'RE AWAKE!” The pink mare screamed as she hugged her husband.
Chyron chuckled. “That I am, five bits says you have a party planned for me.
“And you'd be right! Let's go!”
Chyron rolled out of bed, happily following his wife, the pair of them enjoying their time together. Months passed without anymore sign of evil threatening Equestria, So Chyron formally resigned as Guardian, saying that he would only use his abilities again if they were needed. Months later Pinkie gave birth to an adorable Unicorn filly which they named Summer Spice Pie. She had her father's coat but her mother's mane, her eyes were a rather nice shade of amethyst. Together the three of them and the rest of the Elements of Harmony lived out their days in Peace.
END.
(AN: Finally done. The emerald-gold serpent is Rayquaza, the lupine beast is a supped up loupe-garou. As before tell me what you think. And yes Celestia and Luna are Naaru. To all my fans, I'm sorry to say that I'm retiring from the fan-fic business, to answer why, I'v simply run out of ideas. But, i'll still be around. You never know, i might make a new fic in the future.)
