1: Link and Applejack

Ponyville had just recovered from the recent parasprite encounter, and Applejack had just gone out into the Everfree Forest to get a special blend of cinnamon from Zecora for her trademark applesauce. On her way there she heard a slight moaning from somewhere within the thick foliage.

Curiosity got the best of her and, peaking through the foliage, she saw the limp body of a human clad in green. She was so worried for the man, as she has heard him called in sci-fi book she had read. She was sure it was docile, and he was unconscious anyhow. With a surprised look on her face she rushed over and picked him up on her back. Looking him over, she could not find any cut or other injury. She wondered how he had ended up unconscious. She quickly rushed the body to the hospital.

She noticed he had a sword with a bluish-purplish hilt in a peculiar bird-like fashion similar to his shield, which was more obviously a bird pointing to symbol made up of three golden triangles arranged in a pattern of another triangle: his sheath was also impressive, but not quite as notable as the sword or shield. It had a bunch of designs that meant nothing to her, but she had a feeling they meant something to someone.

Link awoke to the sounds of beeping. He did not recognize anything, but it all seemed so high tech. Much higher than the Medieval technology of Hyrule. He could not see any people, and there appeared to be horses of different colors lying across the beds. Confusion arose as he jumped out of bed. Nothing hurt and the last thing he remembered was heading back into the Termanian forest in search of Navi. Now he’s in the hospital. He saw his sword, shield and ocarina laying beside his bed. As he suited up, an orange pony with a light gray-olive mane walked through the doorway.

"Howdy!" greeted Applejack. Being the best pony, she obviously should get the first pony speaking part.

Link swiveled and drew his sword and shield in a very fluid motion and stood in his attack position toward this... talking horse.

"Whoa, Nelly! Settle down, partner! I don’t mean ya no harm."

Link slowly sheathed his sword. She didn’t seem like a threat. He was familiar with talking to horses. While a wolf (in Twilight Princess), he had tried to talk to Epona, but this one seemed...friendlier. Epona had always been, "Link... Hurry up and return to your true self..." as if being able to talk to him was completely unimportant, even unwanted. He wondered how he knew that, seeing as he himself didn’t ever do that. Maybe he remembers some of his’ alternate selves, as he often does.

(For your sanity as well as mine, I will include what Link is saying here, even though usually you, as someone not in the story, should not be able to hear / read what he is saying.)

"I’m Link of Hyrule."

"You’re Link, huh?" she replied. ”Well, howdy-doo-dee! I’m Applejack! Pleased to meet you." She reached out her hoof and Link slowly, cautiously knelt down, reached out, and shook it like he would a hand, grasping around it and shaking it upside down. It felt weird shaking hooves instead of hands. Applejack seemed equally confused, but didn’t say anything. Also most of these ponies came up to his lower ribs, so he has to duck whenever he goes through doorways.

”What’s this place you speak of, Hyrule?” Applejack questioned. “This here is Ponyville. Is Hyrule somewhere in Equestria?"

Link shook his head. ”Hyrule is a land entirely different; Populated with human such as myself."

Applejack looked confused. She pondered this for a moment before giving up. ”Twilight will know about this. She knows about everything is seems. Common! Follow me."

"I’m not going to ride you?" Link looked expectantly and slightly confused at the blonde mare.

Applejack was even more confused, "Do... do you want to?"

"Well we usually do where I’m from."

Reluctantly Applejack agreed. It felt more natural than she thought it would, having someone riding on her back. Link seemed as though he was in control of her motions, tugging on her mane like it was a bridle. Every corner she rounded, he tugged on her braids. Unfortunately the hospital was at the other end of town from the library, so there was a long way to go.
