Stay By Me

"Claud are you there?" Lila shouted nervously into the phone after hearing gunshots.

She heard a couple of more gunshots, each one getting closer.

Please be okay, Claud, she prayed.

The gunshots stopped after a second.

"STAY DOWN!" she heard a deep voice say.

She heard the sounds of the handcuffs being tied around someones hoof.

CLICK!

"Everything is alright babe." she heard Claud say through the phone.

"Oh, thank god, I was about to call an ambulance." she said calmly.

"So how was your day?" he said. "Get in the car!"

"It was terrible! The students were busy throwing papers around spitballs everywhere! I think I still have some in my hair." she said. "I had to put them to sleep by playing my soothing music."

"Wow, that sounds like a rough day." Claud said. "I just had to catch down two criminals, the last one being the worst."

"Did you get hurt? Did you get a bullet somewhere?" Lila asked breathing rapidly.

"I got lucky this time." Claud said. "Not a bullet touched my skin."

I worry too much, Lila thought.

"Well okay, see you tonight I guess." Lila said.

"Oh, what-" Claud said. "Hey buddy slow down!"

"CLAUD!" Lila screamed.

She heard someone cough.

"HEY! Haven't you heard of coughing in your hands, not in people's faces?" she heard Claud shout disgustingly.

"Please... sir... no time.." Lila heard someone rasping in the background.

"Calm down sir tell me... SIR? SIR? Oh no, gotta go Lila someone's in trouble." Claud said.

"Oh my god? What happened?" Lila asked.

"He just collapsed." Claud said. "I'm going to call the ambulance."

"Take care." Lila said. She hung up.

"So what happened today?" Lila asked curiously while she and Claud were in bed.

"The guy had a very rare disease called HS89. He died in the ambulance. It may be rare, but it is deadly to anyone who gets it. They only have a 10% chance of surviving." Claud explained and Lila's eyes grew wide.

"Poor guy!" Lila said with tears in her eyes. "I wonder what caused him to get the disease."

"The cause is still unknown, as is for the cure." Claud said. "Anyone can have the disease now and anything could be carrying the disease."

"Oh sweat Celestia, why does life have to be difficult." Lila said, wiping her tears with a tissue.

"The most important thing is that we take care of each other and make sure we're healthy all the times." Claud said.

"I don't need to be reminded." Lila said with a smile on her face.

"Oh look it's 8:00 P.M, it's best we sleep if we don't wanna be late for work." Claud said.

Lila turned off the lights.

"Goodnight sweetie." she said and gave Claud a kiss.

"Night, my dear." Claud replied.

That night, Lila hugged Claud harder than ever.

"Oh god!" Lila heard someone shout.

She heard glass shattering.

Alarmed she sprinted out of bed to find Claud lying on the floor with pieces of glass and water by his side.

She looked to the left and found vomit there.

"Oh my god! I gotta call the ambulance!" Lila shouted.

She quickly dialed 911 and told them to come to her house quickly.

As she waited for the police she grabbed paper towels to clean up the mess, sweep the pieces of glass and threw them away.

After that, she lay Claud on the couch. It took Lila about four minutes to do so because Claud was a big and very strong colt.

Two minutes later the ambulance came.

The doctors rushed in, to check on Claud.

"Sweet Celestia, this is more severe than we had imagined!" one of the doctors exclaimed.

"What is wrong?" Lila shouted, breathing faster.

"Lila..." Claud said weakly. "Go to work. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine, I bet it's just a cold that would go away as soon as you come back."

"NO!" Lila shouted.

"Mam, I ask you to go to your job." one of the doctor said.

"NO I WANT TO BE WITH HIM!" she said angrily pushing through the doctor.

A second later, she was being dragged into a car by four police officers.

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS! I NEED TO BE BY HIS SIDE!" Lila said.

She was put into the cars, and the driver locked the door.

"Claud..." Lila said sadly.

She looked through the rear window as she was driven away.

Lila had a hard time at music class today. She wasn't always paying attention.

She didn't even stop the little ponies from shooting spitballs around the room.

The students noticed this and tried to be on their best behaviors.

"Thank you for your effort students, as you see I'm going through a difficult time." Lila said looking down at the ground sadly.

When the school was over, at 5:00 PM, she immediately rushed to the hospital.

She asked the pony at the desk is she has of Claud Simmerson.

The lady said that he was in the emergency room.

OH NO! THIS IS WORST THAN WE IMAGINED, Lila thought, eyes wide.

Lila told the lady her name.

"The doctors will check in with you in a moment." the lady said. "I'm sorry that you have to deal with this."

"Thanks for your concern." Lila said kindly.

As she waited in the waiting room for twenty minutes, she tried to imagine Claud only having a bad disease with a easy to find cure.

Maybe one of Zecora's herbs or potions might help.

Everything might turn out all right after all, I hope, she thought.

She thought back to all the things they have gone through.

It all started a few months ago, when there was shooting near her old house.

Claud, doing his normal duties, saw the pony shooting at people near the area. He soon took out his gun and took a shot at the guy, but missed.

Lila happened to be on her way home, when the pony pointed his gun towards her direction. She had not heard the shootings because she had headphones, and was playing the music loudly on her iPod.

Claud saw the man point at gun at Lila's direction and he pushed her out of the way.

The bullet was almost an inch from him.

"Watch out!" Claud had shouted. "You're going to get hurt."

Lila thanked Claud, but then saw the pony aim the gun at the Claud.

She quickly yanked his feet so he would fall.

Claud was on the floor when the bullet was shot.

He quickly shot the guy in the leg.

He had ran over to him and told him to stay down.

He put the pony's hooves in handcuffs.

After he put the pony in the car, he looked over at Lila.

"Thanks for saving me." he said.

"No problem." Lila responded.

Lila had giving him her phone number.

She had looked at her iPod.

It had been 8:00 PM.

After that day, they had dates at 8:00 PM, if none were too busy of course.

They got married at 8:00 PM, one month ago, a weird time for people to get married, but they were mostly available at that time.

Lila saw the doctor come into the waiting room.

"I'm sorry mam, but your husband has HS89. He doesn't have that much time left." the doctor said sadly.

"LET ME SEE HIM!" Lila shouted.

"Wear this mask first." the doctor said and handed her the white mask doctors put on their faces.

Lila quickly ran into the room, and saw Claud looking over at her, with an air mask on, looking very tired.

"Lila..." Claud managed to say.

"CLAUD PLEASE DON'T GO! BABY. I NEED YOU!" Lila shouted, tears coming down her eyes.

"It's okay, you can go on, with your life." Claud whispered.

"No, I can't live without you." Lila said hugging him.

"Mam, i recommend you don't do that." the doctors said.

"I don't care, this is the last time I might see him, show some respect, at least!" Lila shouted.

Lila looked at the machine, it showed that Claud's heartbeat was 10.

"I think it's time for me to go..." Claud whispered. "I just want you to know..."

"NO! YOU ARE NOT LEAVING ME!" Lila shouted.

She grabbed the surgery knife and stabbed herself in her heart.

"MAM!" the doctors shouted.

"Lila... why?" Claud whispered.

Lila managed to walk over to him. She fell into the bed where Claud was at.

"If you die, we die." she whispered.

"I want you to know that... I love you. Forever." Claud whispered.

"I love you, too. Now we can be together forever." Lila managed to whisper.

She hugged Claud tightly and Claud hugged her back.

Tears went down their eyes and soon into their arms.

When the tears met up with their hands, which they were holding, a bright light illuminated around the room. The light soon turned red and the light emerged past the ceiling into the sky.

Everyone looked up into the sky, to see a bright red heart shaped light shining in the sky.

When the light was gone, the doctors heard the beeping noise of the machine.

The doctors checked Lila and Claud.

They had no pulse.

All the doctors looked very sad.

"What was the time of death?" one of the doctors said.

The other doctor began to cry.

She had known Lila and Claud for a few months.

She did manage to say the time of death before running out the door in tears.

"8:00 PM"
