It was a stormy day, two warriors who were fighting each other were, Nehalem, and the other was an earth pony with gold armor he held a round gold shield with a lion on it he also held a sword.
“I’m amazed that you're still standing at this point. However, with this, it's over. Ride the Vanguard! Dragonic Overlord!” Flames surrounded him as he transformed into the Dragonic Overlord. “Burn everything, Apocalyptic Fire!” He then shot the pony with his fire. The knight blocked the attack with his shield. “So you managed to withstand that attack.”
“Did you really think an attack on that level would beat me?”
“What?”
“The real fight starts now. Now let me show you, the new world that will exist once you've broken all the limits.” Then bright light filled their visions.
Spike was sitting on a table. He looked around. “What, a dream? It can’t be.” said Spike looking at his cards.
Trading card games have reached millions in the world. It has become a commonplace in our lives. Cardfight Vanguard is currently the most popular game. It is that game that lead me to a new world.
Miss Cheerilee was teaching class, then the bell rang. The class got there school supplies around.
“Apple Bloom, are you heading over to the Card Capital, now?” asked Diamond Tiara.
“Yeah!” said Apple Bloom.
“Alright! When we get there we’ll beat you and show you who’s the boss.”
“Did you forget?” asked Silver Spoon.
“What?” asked Diamond Tiara.
“Did you forget that you can’t go to the Card Capital because you have detention for not having your homework?”
“I forgot! Okay, I will have to take a rain check on that match. Come on Silver Spoon, we have detention.”
“Me too?”
Apple Bloom chuckled a little.
It’s hard to believe that only a few weeks ago our team won the Vanguard National Championship. Team Crusader has temporarily disbanded. This way, we can relax and enjoy vanguard in our own way. It hasn’t been a year since I started playing vanguard. So much has changed since then.
Apple Bloom entered the Card Capital.
“Hello!” said Apple Bloom
Apple Bloom saw no one there, but one young unicorn colt with a black coat a white mane and tail and a green horn. His cutie mark was six stars one was silver, one was green, one was purple, one was blue, one was gold, and one was red in a circle there was a seventh star in the center with all six colors.
“Wow, it's rare for there it be so few in the store right now.” Apple Bloom walked up to the colt. “Hello.”
“Hello!” He said back
“Is this your first time here?”
“Yeah, have you heard of vanguard?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Oh really, because I just put this deck together and I wanted to try it out.”
“I see, if your ok with it, I’ll be your opponent.”
“That’s so nice of you. You’ll see that I built it so that, one day, I’ll finally participate in a vanguard fight!”
‘Making a deck in order to play the game. He reminds me of my old self.’ thought Apple Bloom. “Since this is your first time, I’ll explain the rules as we play. Will the standing fight table be okay?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, place a grade zero card face-down in the vanguard circle. Let decide who goes first.” They flipped a coin, the coin showed the side the colt choosed. “Now, draw five cards from your deck.”
“Okay.”
“If you don't like the cards you can redraw as many as you want. It’s good to have, at least a grade one, two and three. Are you ok? Are you sure you’re not going to redraw any of your cards?” she asked, seeing he was not redrawing.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Ok, then let’s begin. Now imagine it.”
“Imagine?!”
“The two of us have arrived on Cray, a planet similar to Equestria. We are both mere spirits. We’re given two abilities. The first ability is to call on the planet’s creatures or units: Call. The cards in your hoof will fight for you. Each card has different grades, and abilities written on the card. The second ability is to combine our spirit form with a unit: Ride. The unit we ride is called, the vanguard.”
“Okay.”
“Now we start the game, by flipping over our grade zero units.”
“Okay.”
“We'll simultaneously reveal our face-down cards.”
“Okay.”
“Stand up, Vanguard! Wingal Brave.”
“Stand up, Vanguard! Grassland Breeze, Sagramore.”
The colt turned into a colt with some silver armor and a bow as well as a wolf beside him.
“It looks like our vanguards are ready, and we can begin. Grassland Breeze, Sagramore? Gold Paladin? Is this a new clan?”
“Yes. Wingal Brave… Royal Paladin. Who know that clan was still around.”
“What?”
“Let’s continue. It’s my turn?”
“Yeah. If you have a card in your hoof that is one grade higher, you can ride it.”
“Okay. I ride Knight of Elegant Skills, Gareth.” He turned into a earth pony with gold and red armor and he wielded a sword.
“The one who goes first can't attack. So, it’s my turn. I ride Little Sage Marron. Wingal Brave move to the rear guard thanks to it’s skill. And now I can call units that are equal or less grade then my vanguard. The unit will fight alongside the vanguard. This is a call. I call Knight of Friendship, Kay. If you go second then you can attack first. When you attack, it chases the unit to be put in the rest posistine. Grade one and zero can help when they’re in the back row. They can give their power to the unit in front of them. It’s called boosting. The knight of friendship attacks your vanguard.” Kay charged and hit Gareth with his staff. “Since he hit you, you have to show the top card of your deck to see if there is a damage trigger.”
“Damage trigger check.” (no trigger)
“No trigger, so just put that card into the damage zone. Now you have to keep your eye on it because when somepony reaches six damage then the game is over. Now I still have another attack. I attack your vanguard with Marron. When the vanguard attacks you can check the top card of the deck for a drive trigger. Drive trigger check, no trigger. But the card still goes to my hoof.”
“Damage trigger check.” (no trigger)
“Now it’s your turn.”
“Stand and draw!”
“If you have a grade two you can ride it.”
“Of course I have one. I ride Knight of Superior Skills, Beaumains.” he turned into an earth pony with gold armor he held a round gold shield with a lion on it as well he held a sword. “I call Sacred Guardian Beast, Nemean Lion.” a lion appeared “I attack Marron with Beaumains.”
“No guard!”
“Drive trigger check! Silent Punisher.”
“That’s a trigger.”
“A trigger….. Critical trigger?”
“Yeah there are four types of trigger. The yellow applies a critical effect. Thanks to that you can deal extra damage and also the increase of 5000 power.”
“I’ll give the critical to Beaumains and the 5000 power to Nemean Lion.” Beaumains ran up and slashed Marron with his sword.
‘I hadn’t mentchen that you can split the effect of the triggers. For some reason he is very used to this.’
“Is there a problem?”
“No, it’s just that you don’t seem like you're a beginner.”
“Of course I am. That’s two damage.”
“Yeah!” (Both no trigger) Apple Bloom put Gancelot and Blaster Dark into the damage zone.
“A Shadow Paladin.”
“Oh yeah, so you have heard of it?”
“Yeah the name at least. So that clan is still around.” Apple Bloom was shocked on what she heard. “Next I’m attacking with Nemean Lion”
“Just because you opponent attacks doesn’t mean you have to take the damage. You can call units from your hoof to guard against the attack. I guard with Elaine. When you guard, the number on the side protect you from attacks.” Elaine appeared and Nemean Lion backed off his attack.
“My attack is over.”
“Now it’s my turn. Stand and draw! Now I’ll ride. Stand up my avatar, I ride Blaster Blade.”
“Blaster Blade.” he whispered
“I activate Blaster Blade’s skill. By flipping over two cards in my damage zone, I can retire one of my opponent's rear guards. This is called a counterblast.” Blaster Blade stabbed the ground with his sword and send lighting at Nemean Lion. “I call Lake Maiden, Lien. I use Lien boost Blaster Blade’s attack.”
“I don’t guard.”
“Drive trigger check, critical trigger. I’ll give the critical effect to Blaster Blade and the power to the Knight of Friendship Kay.” He ran up and slashed him with his sword.
“Damage trigger check first (no trigger), second (no trigger).”
“With a boost from Wingal Brave, Kay attacks.”
“I guard with Silent Punisher and Weapons Dealer, Gwydion.”
An earth pony with blue mane and tail with two small horns held two swords. And an earth pony with purple and gold armor holding a sword. Kay ran up and slashed both Silent Punisher and Weapons Dealer.
“It looks like you stop the attack. That’s the end of my turn.”
“This is too outdated.” Apple Bloom was shocked on what she heard. “Stand and draw! I can’t keep this up anymore.”
“What are you saying?” Apple Bloom said, as he showed her a card. “What’s that?”
“This is a card that will burst through all limits, Apple Bloom.”
“How do you know my name?”
“Do you want to know? Then I guess I’ll tell you. Use your silver fangs to crush the chains that determine our limitations. I ride Great Silver Wolf, Garmore.” He turned into a earth pony in white and gold armor wielding twin knives. Then he roared. Apple Bloom found herself on the Planet Cray in Blaster Blade’s armor. She looked around, and saw an army.
“Where am I? What exactly is this?”
“It’s just as you imagined it right?” said the colt, Apple Bloom looked to see him in Garmore’s armor. “This is Cray. These are the troops that fight upon the land of Cray. This is Cray, a planet similar to Equestria. A multitude of varying clans have lived here together in harmony. But suddenly, a mysterious power began to encompass the land of cray. To fight against this mysterious power, the clans from every nation came together to try to remove it. They fought over what clan would lead them. But…”
“Royal Paladin and Shadow Paladin.”
“I’m surprised you knew.”
“Why do I? This sounds so familiar.”
“I see. In the end, neither of them were defeated, so they decided to work together. In order to respect that decision, all of the clans on Cray decided to fight together. And the troops are currently on their way to start the fight.”
“This is amazing! I don’t think any enemy can stand up to this.”
“Exactly. With this army defeating any enemy should have been easy. But…”
The two lightning strikes hit the army sending the two up in the air. Apple Bloom looked back, and saw who were lifted.
“Blaster Dark! Dragonic Overlord!”
A third lightning strike came down and hit her. The three of them were sent up into the air into the black cloud.
“Royal Paladin, Shadow Paladin, and Kagero! These three clans were leading Cray's army. But the three units that acted as the center for each of these clans, were taken by the mysterious power. After that the clans lost their leaders, and the clans lost their will to fight the mysterious power. If things continue as it is, the mysterious power will grow even stronger and completely consume Cray. Cray needs a new force now, Cray needs a new clan all together. A new force which can exceed existing limitations. The power to break past limits: Limit Break!”
Apple Bloom found herself back in the shop but she was alone.
“Was that a dream? No,it couldn’t have been. What was that? What did that colt say again? I think it was “The power to break past limits: Limit Break!” ?” Then Apple Bloom looked at her deck. “No way, my deck it’s changed.” Then the door open and then Rarity and Sweetie Belle came in. “Hello, Rarity. Hi, Sweetie Belle”
“So you came by, Apple Bloom.” said Sweetie Belle
“Yeah.”
Then the door opened once again. This time Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon came in.
“Sorry to have kept you waiting.” said Diamond Tiara
“Yeah sorry for keeping you waiting.” said Silver Spoon
Then soon after that Rainbow Dash entered. “Hey!” she said
“Well, there was some colt in here earlier.” said Apple Bloom
“Oh, what was his name?” asked Rarity
“He didn’t say. More importantly, he messed with my deck, check it out.” said Apple Bloom show them the deck.
“I don’t see anything wrong.” said Rainbow Dash
“What do you mean, it was different before.”
“Well it looks like your Gold Paladins to me.” said Rarity
Apple Bloom was shocked to heard Rarity say that.
“You always used Gold Paladins.” said Sweetie Belle
“What are you talking about? This aren’t the cards I play with.” said Apple Bloom
“Are you feeling ok, Apple Bloom?” asked Rainbow Dash
“Yeah, you have always used Gold Paladins.” said Silver Spoon
Apple Bloom was still in shock of what she was hearing.
“Is there something wrong with your deck?” asked Sweetie Belle
“Let me look.” said Diamond Tiara as she took the top card. “Oh this grade three Garmore is sick! This gold Paladin deck isn't too bad considering It's Apple Bloom's.”
“Like you’re one to talk.” said Silver Spoon.
“It can’t be.” whispered Apple Bloom.
“Come on, Silver Spoon let’s have a match.” said Diamond Tiara.
“Sweetie Belle, a new booster set is coming out soon. Why don’t we make some room.”said Rarity
‘Why? Why doesn't anyone notice that my deck has changed? My deck, the Royal Paladins. What happened to them?’ Thought Apple Bloom. She then remembered what that boy said. (Cray needs a new force now. A new force which can exceed existing limitations.) “A force which can exceed existing limitations.”
