16 year old Megan Williams yawed as she woke up and at first was confused by the fact her room was now bigger..Oh yes.. Mom had just moved away from the old farm after the divorce with her step-dad.
It kind-of sucked because now she wouldn't be able to see her half- brother or half-sister so much now that she was going to be in a new school starting today but perhaps it was the best that mom start someplace new. It just sucked she wouldn't be able to see her half-brother and sister six months out of a year... More or less.. There were holidays and other stuff to consider.
She yawned and stretched out some and then looked at the clock.. Only 5:00 in the morning?! Drat it! Much too early! But she knew she wouldn't get back to sleep. ...She was too uptight about going to a new school for that one might as well read or something. she picked up the book she had been reading but she stopped for a second to touch the picture of her dad.
She never got a chance to know him because of someone running a red light shortly after she was born and killing him. there were not too many photos of the man but he had a kind face.
When the clock finally got around to 7:00 she got up ate some food and was soon on her way.
Upon getting to her new school the first thing she learn was that it was big.. Very big.. She also learned to not stand in the middle of the hall.
What was worse is she had no idea where to go and was thinking of asking for help when a voice came from behind her.
" You lost? Maybe I can help." Said a female voice
" EEP! Megan said and turned to see a girl with red hair...
" Sorry; Didn't mean to startle you.. You must be Megan Williams; Name's Sunset Shimmer.... I was asked to help you even though the last time it didn't work out too well.. It's a LONG story but the good part is that it resulted in more people trusting me now.. Still working on that part. " Said the girl with a smile.
" Oh yes! I come from a small town and I'm not used to such a big place but what do you mean by that last part? " Megan
" You might as well now that I had a bit of a bad rep before and trust me I earned it... I didn't plan on tell you until after I showed you around but there's something about you I like.. It's as if a small piece of home somehow just found it's way to me.. Strange...Very strange. " Sunset said as she looked at this girl.. There was something a little equestrian pony about her and yet she was clearly human.
Her blond hair reminded her quite a bit of Applejack but was a much lighter color.. A silver blond color and she had what the humans called a ponytail too but it was not braided lie Applejack's. Her skin however was a strange light pink which was odd as she never seen a human with that color of skin here before or a pony for that matter.
Her clothes but for the coloring really reminded her of Applejack even more but unlike she had a simple valentine heart with the colors of the rainbow for a ""cutiemark"" instead of three apples.
She just had to introduce the two as she had a hunch they'd get along like two peas in a pod but for now they needed to get to their classes.
" You don't seem that bad to me" Megan said as she looked at the girl. Something was a little strange about this girl but she couldn't put her finger on it. Not yet anyways.
" Thank you for that but we better get going. We don't want to be late and trust me; Principal Celestia will not accept your being new as an excuse; Been there; Done that. Sunset said to lighten things up things up and was awarded with a giggle from Megan which made her smile.
For some reason she wanted this girl to smile and laugh and sing for some reason..
In any case Sunset knew that she had just made a new friend and that made her happy and she knew her friends would be happy for her.
For the next few hours the whole school and time seem to conspire from keeping Sunset from introducing Megan to her other friends though she did manage to get Megan to agree to meet them but finally it was lunchtime.
" Hey everybody; This is my new friend Megan." Sunset said as they sat down at their lunch meeting table.
Applejack's jaw dropped a bit as the girl was dressed somewhat like her and but for her skin color and silver blond hair did remind her of herself. The colors were somewhat different but they did look like hers enough to find herself looking at Megan's hands.... Yep.. Those were the hands of a girl who at least one time worked on a farm or ranch... She had to smile. She had a feeling that she was going to like this new friend of Sunset's.
" Megan This is Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. "
" Nice to meet you. " Fluttershy said softly much to the surprise of her friends as she was normally not so outgoing in front of a stranger without some animal to distract her.
" Pleased to meet you but I'm afraid those clothes will have to go! One Applejack is quite enough around here...Don't worry darling I'll have something with you in mind in next to no time. " Rarity said as she pulled out a little notepad and made a quick drawing.
" Hey!" Applejack started to protest but then she saw the drawing. " That's pretty good! I like it but the color is all wrong. Maybe it should be more blue." She said
Rarity looked at her in surprise. " There's hope for you yet Applejack.. It makes me happy to know there is a little hope for you . " She said
" Well don't get too comfortable with the feeling; It'll not happen again" Applejack said with slightly grumpy look.
" Of course not darling; I'd never assume that one little agreement would turn you into someone you are not darling! It's just I'm delighted to know you're not a hopeless cause." Rarity said..
Applejack sat back down grumbling something about wishing she had not said anything under her breath.
" I don't believe it! She's here for three seconds and she got Rarity and Applejack to agree on clothes! For the first time! To say nothing of the fact she got Fluttershy to talk!... So are you any good with sports? Rainbow Dash with a challenging look.
" I was the best one in my school." Megan said as she began to feel quite comfortable around these girls.
" We will see.. In any case; Welcome to Canterlot High. " Rainbow Dash said with a smile as the other girls smiled as they felt a connection they never felt before and it felt good and right.
Megan looked as Rainbow Dash sat down and the friends began to talk about everyday things.. It was as if she was somehow meant to meet them all; No something or someone was still missing. But what and why did she feel like something that had been missing her whole life was suddenly filled?
Megan somehow knew that if she stayed around these girls that this wonderful feeling would only get stronger and better and she looked forward to that and more importantly. She felt at home for the first time since her step-dad and mom had spilt up..
