"I love documentaries"
"We know Twilight" everyone said simultaneously to the visiting Princess of Friendship. It was Twilight's fifth visit to the human world, and just like the last five times, a sleepover was called for by Pinkie Pie. Despite Rarity's insistence and Sonata's enthusiasm of having a sleepover at the Siren's residence, they hadn't done so, as Adagio and Aria didn't feel comfortable with the idea yet.
Everyone aside from Adagio, Aria, and Fluttershy was upstairs in Pinkie's room. The other three were downstairs in the kitchen; Aria and Fluttershy had went down to get a snack, and Adagio had followed to "seduce" Fluttershy, or rather torment her with suggestive words and actions.
The Sirens made it clear that they were bisexual, though with some small favoritism towards girls. Fluttershy presented a challenge to Adagio, where shy girls she had encountered before would swoon or cower from her advances, but this one always ran away. Adagio wasn't exactly infatuated with the girl, it was more like a Sylvester/Tweety situation.
Everyone was in their usual pajamas, including Twilight who always wore the ones Pinkie had provided. Sonata was wearing a tee shirt with pink pajama sweats and blue slippers. Adagio wore a revealing red nightie, and Aria wore a black wife beater with dark purple pajama pants similar to Sunset's.
Pinkie had surprised everyone by eagerly suggesting that they watch a documentary this night. Twilight was the only other one who wasn't opposed to the idea. "Come on girls. We're always talking about things we want to show Twilight and she always wants to learn. And she's always doing boring research when she comes over."
"Hey!" Twilight objected to her research being called boring.
"And this should be really interesting to her. Plus, I won the "Showing something to Twilight" rights."
"You guys compete for who's going to show me something new?"
"Only recently" Sunset Shimmer explained from atop Pinkie's bed.
"How does one of you win?"
"First we played a soccer game" Rainbow explained "Which I won of course. Then the winner chooses the next challenge as long as it's different from the last one."
"Let me guess, Pinkie won a pie eating contest"
"Nope" Applejack chimed in "She beat us all in chess."
"..................I know the Elements of Harmony aren't really a thing here, but I thought you were honest Applejack."
"She is darling" Rarity said "I chose that one."
"And Pinkie beat all of you?!"
"We don't know how she did it either" Sunset whispered to Twilight in a somewhat frightened tone.
"It's Maud's favorite board game!" Pinkie explained cheerfully "She carves her own pieces out of rocks. And boy can she get competitive. I mean, she can give Dashie a run for her money."
"It's true"
"Ah!" everyone exclaimed from the sudden, deadpan response from Pinkie's older sister. She was standing in the doorway in her sleeping shorts and white t-shirt.
"I just wanted to remind all of you not to get too loud" Maud said before bringing up her small pet rock "Boulder gets cranky if he doesn't get his rest." Maud departed before anyone could respond, leaving everyone, aside from Pinkie, feeling as though she had issued some sort of warning.
"So uh, what's this documentary about Pinkie?" Twilight asked nervously, looking to get her mind off the human world Maud.
"Well I actually picked this one for you and Sonata. Well all three of the Sirens really, cause I was thinking 'What's a documentary that we could all enjoy and give Twilight some knowledge of our world?' Then I remembered that I invited the Sirens and I was thinking '*big dramatic gasp* What about Sonata and Aria and Adagio?! I need to take their enjoyment into account. They probably think documentaries are boring like most of us do, I gotta pick one that reels you in and gets you interested. And I can't pick one about history because they probably lived through some history and would be bored. *Another big gasp* Wait! All four of them come from a world filled with a bunch of mythical creatures and monster and animals and stuff. I know just the one!' So I picked"
"Wait, Pinkie you're not talkin bout-?" AJ began but didn't manage to finish.
"Mermaids! The Body Found" Pinkie said a little ominously while bringing her hands to her face and separating them as though she were opening a curtain to her face.
"Ugh, really Pinkie?" Rainbow said in exasperation.
"Yeah! It's a good one. And has a little for most of us. There's some small scary moments and some awesome moments in there for Dashie, some beautiful visuals for Rarity, sea animals for Fluttershy, lots of sciency stuff for Twilight, and of course, an almost equivalent for Sonata, Aria, and Adagio."
"What about me?" Applejack asked.
"I said most of us AJ" Pinkie said as though Applejack were talking silly.
"I thought there weren't creatures like that in this world"
"There are mermaids in Equestria?" Rarity asked with some surprise "*gasp* Do they look beautiful?"
"Yes and I suppose they are. You would have to ask a stallion. And we call them mermares more often."
"Despite what Pinkie says" Rainbow chimed in "No, we don't have any here."
"Is something wrong Sonata?" Sunset asked, noticing that the reformed siren seemed to have grown uneasy after hearing the title.
"Hm? Oh, no I'm fine Sunny. It's just that me and the girls decided not to watch that one. We kind of agreed it was a fake....like everyone else."
"Oh no" Pinkie said as she rushed to the girl's side "Is it offensive to you because of your species?"
"Of course not Pinkie" Sonata chuckled before wrapping the pink teenager in a tight hug "You could never do anything to offend me best buddy. And it was thoughtful of you to think about me and the girls."
"Aw, thanks Sony" Pinkie replied before returning the hug "So you'll watch it?"
"Yeah, sure, it'll be fun. And Dagi and Ari will probably get a kick out of it" Sonata said before releasing her friend and getting comfortable. Pinkie decided to sit next to her newest friend. "We actually knew some mermares when we were in Equestria. We didn't really socialize though."
"Well this should be interesting for us" Twilight said "I mean for me, Sunset, you, and your....companions."
"Shouldn't we wait till Fluttershy, Adagio, and Aria come back?" Sunset asked.
"Nah, Adagio specifically said not to interrupt her when she's trying to catch Fluttershy" Sonata said.
"Catch?"
"And Aria likes to watch her 'torment' her."
"...........okay" Rainbow said slowly "Uh, you wanna start the documentary Pinkie?"
"Oh yeah!" Pinkie said, grabbing her DVR remote and pressing play. Pinkie sat back with a smile on her face while Sonata had a small one.
"Here we go" Rainbow groaned slightly as she lay on Pinkies bed near Sunset. This caused Sonata to narrow and shift her eyes momentarily as if she could see from behind.
"As a scientist, I was never a believer of conspiracy theories" came a male voice from the television. Soon, an audio recording was played, and it was explained that it's has never been identified but thought to be organic, and it was called The Bloop.
When The Bloop was played, Sonata's small smile became a small frown, and her eyebrows knitted slightly in confusion.
Then footage of beached whales was shown. They were beached because of the Navy sonar testing. Everyone in the room, except Sonata, mentally thanked God that Fluttershy wasn't present.
"Oh those poor whales" Rarity stated quietly.
"I remember that" Sonata said solemnly "Wasn't the best of times." The others looked on with sympathy, remembering that Sonata had lived in the sea in Equestria and most likely had a connection to the other sea-life. "I've talked with a few whales back in Equestria. They can sing beautifully too. Go ahead and keep playing it Pinkie." Pinkie unpaused the documentary while keeping her caring hand on Sonata's shoulder.
And then it happened. Footage supposedly recorded from a cell phone by two boys who arrived first at a whale beaching in 2004 played. "They claimed they saw a body." One of the boys probed the presumed body covered in sand with a stick, and looked to the camera before the screen went black and an inhuman roar or screech or scream was heard.
A few of the girls jumped in surprise, but Sonata had the biggest reaction. When the scream happened, she stood up very suddenly and climbed over Pinkie's bed by walking backwards. This made Pinkie pause the program to see what was wrong.
"Hey!" Rainbow exclaimed as she rolled away to avoid being stepped on.
Sonata continued walking backward on top of the bed, until her back hit the wall that it was placed against.
"Sonata?" Sunset said after also moving out of the girl's way. She didn't respond, her mouth slightly open and her eyes wide, looking as though she had seen a ghost.
"I was gonna say that" Pinkie exclaimed "You do look like you've seen a ghost."
"No one said that Pinkie" AJ said.
"None of us did, no" Pinkie explained.
"Rewind it"
"What did you say dear?" Rarity asked in response to Sonata's whisper.
"Rewind it now" Sonata said urgently, moving forward and onto the floor, grabbing the remote from Pinkie's hand and doing it herself. Given her behavior, Pinkie decided not to say that the action was rude. Sonata stopped the recorded program at the start of the cell phone footage. Her head raised slightly and her eyes widened when she heard the scream again. She paused it and gave the remote to Pinkie before stepping out the door.
"Rewind it all the way and keep it there" the blue girl commanded as she stepped out.
"Did I ever tell you I love wearing this nightie?" Adagio sultrily asked Fluttershy, who she had trapped between her arms and against the counter in Pinkie's kitchen. The shy girl's face currently matched the color of the aforementioned nightie.
"Um...n-n-no?"
"I just love how loose it is. A strong gust of wind could probably blow it right off."
Aria suppressed a snicker as she watched Adagio torment the timid girl. She always enjoyed watching Adagio scare others. She hated most others.
"Adagio! Aria! Come up here!" Sonata shouted from atop the staircase. The two girls noted the urgency in her voice but rolled their eyes in annoyance, considering most of what Sonata deemed urgent really wasn't.
"I'm kind of busy here Sonata" Adagio called back in annoyance.
"And I'm busy watching what she's doing"
"Αδελφές! Παρακαλώ Ελάτε να δείτε αυτό!" Sonata exclaimed as she stopped in the doorway of the kitchen.
That got their attention, and Fluttershy's confusion. The two Sirens looked at each other with confusion and concern at what their youngest companion had said. *Sisters! Please come and see this*
They both seemed to be reading each other's minds and thinking the same thing: She hasn't spoken in our native tongue since we were banished here. The only thing Sonata had ever said in the Siren language while in the human world was "What happened?!" after being sent there.
"Sonata what is it?" Adagio asked in a concerned voice after stepping away from the now confused Fluttershy.
"Just come on" Sonata said urgently before hurrying back up the stairs. Adagio and Aria immediately went after her with Fluttershy trailing behind. She was concerned for the youngest siren, who she found to be the nicer of the two.
"Play it" Sonata said as she and the others entered.
"Sonata what's going-?"
"Pinkie play it" Sonata said, not letting Sunset finish her question.
"Ugh" Aria groaned as she stared at the screen "Sonata if this is another cat-"
"SH!" Sonata shushed her bicker mate.
The program played with Adagio wearing a look of utter confusion at what was happening and Aria looking uninterested, believing Sonata had once again blown something out of proportion. They both however had the same reaction to The Bloop as Sonata, who quickly looked to them to make sure they had heard it. The others looked on in bewilderment, not sure what was happening or what to expect.
"Oh those poor whales" Fluttershy said when the whale beaching's came up.
Then the scream came, and the other two sirens had similar reactions to Sonata, who paused the documentary. Adagio took a few steps back as her eyes widened in shock. Aria seemed to lose the feeling in her legs as she grabbed hold of the end of Pinkie's bed for support from her legs almost giving out.
"No way" Aria whispered in disbelief.
"It...it can't be" Adagio said.
"I think it is" Sonata said as she stared back at the paused black screen "It's them."
