Nighttime has come to Ponyville and her inhabitants are getting ready for bedtime. As usual with most children, they made the task a bit difficult for their parents.
And for this set of twins is no different from their peer, they play, they learn and did all of most activities their peer does. However unlike their peer this pair of twins are Qirin, which aren’t usual in this country, but in a small town like Ponyville they stand out from the rest.
And also like other children, they dislike bedtime and made the task difficult for their parents.
“Dad, we’re not even sleepy.” Starlight cried, trying her best to convince her dad that she and her brother are old enough to stay up late. Her brother, Moon Light tries to give his best “Puppy Eyes” to his dad, hoping that it will his dad to let them stay up late.
Dusk Shine knew this would come, his children would try and convince him to let them stay up late. He’s torn whether to let them stay up for a few moment or to tell them to go to bed, he wish Barb is not on Royal Business right now, because being a dragon herself only she can discipline them, you know since their kids is half dragon and Dragon folk's parenting is very different than that of Pony folk. But she did left him some advice before she left, Be assertive.
He had read all the books on the subject, discussed with his parents, his father in law and even his brother in law, but few of them discuss or know the parenting guide for hybrid children which made Dusk even more uneasy. Can he be assertive as his wife or will he fail at it.
His children continue to talk him to let them stay up late, After a quick thought, he made up his mind. He will send them to bed less he wants to anger his dragon wife. “I’m sorry guys, your mother said to me that you two must be in bed by 10, no more no less.” His children protest and begged him to let them stay up but to no avail, their dad is firm with his decision.
"Awww, but dad - " Starlight try to reason but it falls on deaf ears.
"No buts young lady, you and your brother are gonna go to your room and get ready to sleep. Do I make myself clear ?" Dusk tries mimic his voice and tone like his wife whenever the kids are acting out.
The twins defeated know it's no use to argue anymore but to comply with their dad, as they walk in defeat Dusk starts to pity them, did he acted to assertive ? Did he do right thing ? He quickly think for something, anything to make right with his children. And at that moment he has an idea.
Some moments later, Dusk Shine walks into his children's room, seeing his kids have already in their PJs and are about to go to sleep. He hopes he can make amends with them. "Permission to come in guys?" he spoke softly hoping his kids will let him in.
'You can come in dad" Starlight answer, though her tone is not that of anger nor bitter. Dusk enters the room bringing their most favourite thing, Ice - Cream with gems. At that moment looks on their faces changes, before they were mopey but now their smiling brightly, showing their draconic teeth.
"I'm sorry if I was too hard on you guys" Dusk said while handing the ice cream to them. "You know how your mother will be if she knew you stay up late?"
"It's okay daddy" his son answer,the twins nodded knowing full well a mother's wrath is not something they nor anybody should ever trifle with. Especially when your mother is a dragon.
"Tell you what guys, how do you want me to do to make amends ?"
"Tell us how you and mom got married"
