//------------------------------// // Wait... what? // Story: The lovely life of Emerald Isle // by SweetyBelleluvsu //------------------------------// “Gangway!” Emerald screamed as she ran through the halls of Pony Ville High, “Pardon me, excuse me!” Emerald was on her way to the testing room; today was the day of her big exam and she did not want to be late. She woke up half an hour late and was pushing it now. She was almost to her room when she ran into Diamond Cutter. “Dude,” He said as he rubbed his head, “Did anypony get the number of the train that hit me?” “Oh,” Emerald exclaimed, “D. C. I am so sorry; I was in a hurry to get the testing room.” “Why,” He asked as Emerald helped him up and picked up his books, “We don’t have a test today do we?!” “No,” Emerald said as she handed the books to him, “I do. See you!” Emerald ran on toward the testing room and got there just as the bell rang. She got to her seat, she got to choose whatever seat because she was the only one taking a test, and was handed the exam. She had been studying for this since the beginning of the year with Chaos. Speaking of Chaos, why did he just come in through the door? “Chaos,” Emerald asked as he took the seat next to her, “What are you doing here?” “I worked ahead,” Chaos said as the teacher handed him an exam as well, “Why do you think I’ve been studying as well?” “SHH!” the teacher shushed before turning on the stop watch. Emerald and Chaos began to work on the exam; they both were working hard. One hour went by, two hours, three! Emerald took a few precious seconds to see how many pages were left; only one, perfect. She dared not look at how Chaos was doing for the teacher might think she was cheating and make her start over. She worked carefully to do her last math problems; she knew how to do them all. When she was working on the very last problem, the stopwatch dinged saying that the exam was over. “Alright,” The teacher said in a matter of fact voice, “Finish the problem you are working on and then you may go help a teacher in a lower grade.” Emerald took her time with her problem; she did it once but the answer didn’t look right. She erased it and started again; this time it looked right. She gathered her papers and handed them to the teacher; Chaos was right behind her with his papers. The teacher took them and then looked at some separate pages. “Chaos,” She said, “I would like you to go to Pony Ville Elementary and help the fifth graders. Emerald, I want you to help your sister.” “Yes ma’am,” They both said in unison. They both headed out, getting some glares from some the other kids on break, ready to go help. Emerald knew why they were glaring, but she didn’t care; she was free. They both walked to the elementary school and talked about how they thought they did on the exam. They got to the school and went their separate ways, Emerald made a beeline for her sisters class room; she made sure she had the note from the teacher. She walked into the room after they finished singing “Here Comes Peter Cottontail” and hoofed the note to the teacher. After the teacher told her what to do to help Raven she grabbed some paper and a pencil and told Raven to join her at bigger table; to sit at a big table was considered an honor. Emerald helped with the arithmetic until it was time for lunch. She joined Chaos on a walk back to PV High for lunch and to see how the exam scores were coming. “This snow is so annoying” Emerald said in an annoyed tone, “I wish it would just end.” “Oh come on Emmy,” Chaos teased, “without the snow, how would Santa Hooves get here?” “With teleportation,” Emerald said going along with the joke, “But seriously, aren’t you sick of all this snow?” “Yea,” Chaos said as he picked up some snow, “But I have a nice room waiting for me when we get out of school.” “Yep,” Emerald said as they reached the stairs of PV High, “Oh, are you going to be at my place on Saturday?” “Wouldn’t miss you nineteenth birthday for anything.” Chaos said as he threw the snow he picked up at her. “Only if you will give me that late birthday present you said you would give me.” “I’m still working on that!” Emerald exclaimed, “Trust me, I will have it done by Christmas. Now, let’s go see how the exams went.” “You know,” Chaos started, “I didn’t manage to get the last page done. I had five left so my grade will go down for that.” They headed into the Testing room and saw the teacher on the last page of one of the exams. They waited quietly while she finished grading; when she was done and the paper was put away they pounced like cats asking all sorts of questions like a foal in a candy shop. When the teacher finally got them to calm down she got the exams back out and said the grades aloud. “Counter Chaos,” She started, “Since you are in the higher grade I will say your grade first. You, my friend, got a…” She left a little space of time in there, “B+!” She exclaimed. “A b.” Chaos nearly gasped, “I got a B!” “Congrats Chaos,” Emerald said as she hugged him, “I’m proud of you.” The teacher coughed and they both straightened up and looked toward the front. “Emerald Isle,” She started out, “Unfortunately, you did not get the same grade as Chaos; and you did not get the grade you wanted.” “What,” Emerald asked, her face and mood falling. She had really wanted at least an A- through a b-. “Emerald Isle,” The teacher continued, “You have gotten…” another time pause, “An A+!” “An A+” Emerald exclaimed, “I am in eleventh grade doing a twelfth grade exam and I got an A+?!” “Yes,” The teacher said, “Congratulations Emerald, You get to graduate the first weekend after new-years; you too Chaos.” The two screamed and bounced around the room; they were NOT excited at all. (Lol) The teacher left the room with the papers to tell the principal. “Emerald,” Chaos said excitedly, “We did it!” “I can’t believe we did it,” She exclaimed, “This is the second best day of my life!” “It is my best,” Chaos said as he hugged Emerald, “And you know what would make it better for me?” “What-“ Emerald started to say but was stopped by a hoof on her mouth. Emerald looked at him curiously but that look turned to surprise when he did something unexpected. He kissed her.
