My Dear Fluttershy

Part 4: Christmas Celebration

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have My Dear Fluttershy. When I look back at the 5 years we’ve spent together I almost consider this whole thing a marriage but problem is I’m human and she’s a mythical animal from another world. I have wondered if I should ever make a move but there’s that second thought of what if she isn’t into me that way.

I’ve developed these feelings three years ago, it happened when we were asleep. I woke up with my heart pounding and had a strong urge to kiss her but I resisted and forced myself back to sleep. The following morning wasn’t easy, any time she would so much as look at me I would panic and tell her I need a moment while hurrying into the bathroom. There I would gather my bearings to face her but that only lasted a minute or two. I’ve gotten better now but those were some rough few weeks.

It was winter now and raining actually, Fluttershy and I were in the living room doing small talk while waiting for the rain to settle. However, it just began so that won’t be for a while now. As we talked I held her closely, just like I said 5 years ago under that tree when the moon was out.

It was Christmas day and I had something special planned for Fluttershy. Every year on this day a light show opens in some town West of the forest. I usually go there to watch the lights, I actually went there once with my brother and sister before they died. We had a great time and I went the next following years to that light show to remember the good old days. I stopped going sadly because of Fluttershy, I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off but I’d figured I would wing it with her.

The plan was simple from what I could come with. I would dress her up in one of my hoodies and carry her like a child as we walked about in the area. The only problem I could have is the occasional street people starting trouble. They’re your typical gang full of people who think they’re better than everyone. I actually know their leader pretty well, back when I was a teenage orphan he would pass me up and beg me to hide him from the cops. Of course at the time I had no idea what gangs were but I helped him out and hid him while some cops came looking for him.

They would ask if I’ve seen a man with bags of money and I would shake my head and they’d be on their way. When the coast was clear he’d appear and say, “Thanks amigo.” while handing me a green brick. I’d take the brick and simply nod as I took my leave. This happened pretty often to be honest, it was like we were meant to keep running into each other like this. It did stop however when I found this house, we only saw each other in that light show but usually his gang would be trying to cause trouble. It’s one of the main reasons why I avoid them.

The rain finally stopped and that was our cue to get ready. We hurried along, cutting through the forest with a few short cuts. When we came into the highway bridge Fluttershy threw on the hoodie and made sure she was completely covered before proceeding. As we came up to the road I check to see if anyone was around but luckily no cars were in sight. I wasted no time as I carried Fluttershy through the bridge and into the city where in the center of it was the light show. As we made our way I acted as causal as I could be when passing by the crowds and people. Along the way a lady handed us a small box of cookies for the celebration, I gave them to Fluttershy as I continued since I wasn’t in the mood for sweets.

When we got to Town Plaza I let Fluttershy take a peak. The moment she did she nearly dropped her jaw but even it was frozen in awe. I smiled at the face she had on, the face of absolute and stunning awe. I remember having that same exact face, it brought many good memories seeing it.

“So what do you think, pretty amazing isn’t it?”

Fluttershy was nearly at a loss of words, “It’s so beautiful, I’ve never seen anything like it, not even in my world! The decorations of streamers, balloons, flags, station tents and everything else is absolutely breath taking and the Christmas Tree...I’ve never see one touch the sky like this one, not even Canterlot can compete with this!”

I chuckled at her rant, “Well wait until the end, the light show is pretty amazing.” I looked around for a brief moment for the foods section, once I spotted it I quickly hurried over and had Fluttershy try almost all the foods but we stayed away from the meats. I remember clearly of her vegan culture and I wouldn’t dare let her so much as have her see a pig’s rump as a food choice!

As we got some cotton candy I checked for any street people but everything seemed normal, for now at least. After some gooey candy we treated ourselves to some soda that seemed too much for Fluttershy’s system. Moments after we left Fluttershy was all jittery and spazzy, I could barely hold her still as I tried to not to make a scene out of it in the process. She thankfully crashed a few minutes after then she got a headache and I can’t imagine what the medicine we use would do to her.

I took her to a quiet area to let her rest up for a bit, it didn’t take long for me to find a simple alley that had only one exit. It was pretty lit up surprisingly, normally the alleys I’ve seen are dark and full of litter and such but not this one. Quite strange honestly, I guess I've been around trash for so long it’s usually the first thing I’d expect. Though i’m not perfect so I shouldn’t make a big deal out of it.

I pressed my back against one of the walls and slowly sank to the ground, letting my legs rest and my mind unwind from being around so many people. It was nice, I could actually fall asleep here if I wanted to but not with Fluttershy, I'd rather have her in a safe location because anything happen in these places if you’re not prepared.

As we gather our bearings I heard a familiar voice, “Long time no see...Amigo.”

My eyes were wide open now, “Why did he have to come now, everything was going so well but now he’s here!” My heart began to race as I turned to see his tan face with a rugged 5 o’clock shadow. His hair was a mess of grease while his teeth fared no better with green and yellow decay. He stared at me with his hazel like eyes, waiting for me to say something.

I slowly pushed my up and held Fluttershy closely, “H-hey...How’s it been?” I ask, trying be as calm as I could be.

“I’ve been good,” he replied, coming closer to me, “I haven’t seen you for a very long time.”

God I forgot how horrible his accent was, just made me want to blow out my eardrums, “Yeah it’s been a while...Nothing’s changed really.” I back away as he came closer, “How’s the gang?” I asked.

“Gang has been good,” he explained, “they miss you ya know. You got us all out of a lot of fixes and we’ve needed you for many others but, you weren’t around...Why is that?” he flashed a gun on his side as he stopped and leaned against a wall. He had a smirk at the start but now it was a hateful and questionable glare.

“What’s going on?” whispered Fluttershy, “Who’s here?”

I shushed her immediately and looked back at the leaning gang leader, “I’ve been busy...” I answer vaguely.

“Busy with what?” he wondered.

“Does it really concern you even though we don’t know our own names?” I argued.

He remained silent for a moment before eyeing what was in my arms, “What you got in there, a lost puppy, a sick cat?” he wondered, “You always had a soft spot for animals and you had that magic touch with them. Wish I had it but everyone has their blessings.”

“It’s neither,” I reply, “it’s an orphan and she’s very sick. She doesn’t have long and I’m granting her wish. To see the light and I plan to make that wish come true.”

He stared at me with wide eyes but soon smiled, “Heh...Even got a soft spot for kids...” he said with envy, “You’ll be a good father someday Amigo.” he pushed himself off the wall and walked over to me, “A father needs to protect their children, the world is dangerous so take this and do what you think is right.” he slipped his gun into my pocket and patted my back, “Merry Christmas Amigo, make sure you get to the show quickly! It’s about to start and if you don’t make that wish come true I’ll go looking for you!” he made his leave, giving me the peace sign before disappearing amongst the crowds.

I let out a sigh of relief as I put Fluttershy down, “Thank god he’s gone...” I mutter as I catch my breath, “You alright Fluttershy?”

“Yes,” she replied, “I’m fine but who was he and the dying orphan?”

I chuckled at her innocence, “Well one I have no idea what his name is but he’s a gang leader and two, the orphan was you.” I pushed myself up and stretched my tense muscles.

Fluttershy seemed confused, “Wait...I’m not dying so why did you say that?”

I stared at her with a raise brow, “I was scared he was going to hurt us,” I pulled out the gun he gave me, “this can kill you in one shot but you need to know how to use it.”

Just like any animal would Fluttershy tensed up at the sight of it, “Y-you don’t know h-how to use that...R-right?”

I frowned at her reaction, “I do actually but I was shown how to use, I never killed anyone but if it were a life or death matter I wouldn’t hesitate on pulling the trigger.”

Fluttershy looked horrified, “You would kill to protect me, can’t you find another way to solve it?”

I stared into her eyes for a moment in silence, “Remember when we first met I killed that wolf in order to save you, I’ll do it again if I have to. You’re too important to me and I want you to live on.”

My heart began to race, “Like what that man said, I need to do what I think is right and killing is one of them, I won’t hesitate. If someone were to lay a single finger or hoof on you in any violent matter I’d pry it off and kill em. I’ve lost too much in this world and I won’t lose you no-” Fluttershy placed her hoof on my mouth to stop me, she was trembling now and in tears.

“I get it,” she said with a shaky voice, “you don’t have to say anymore, I get it.” she let her hoof down and slowly sink to the floor, “I’m scared,” she said under her tears, “I’m actually touched also, I never imagined I meant this much to you.”

I watched quietly and listened as I smiled, “I love you Fluttershy, I love you so much.”

She suddenly pounced me and buried her sobbing face into my chest, “I love you too,” she said with a shaky voice, “I love you too...”

I felt warm hearing those words as I stood up with Fluttershy in my arms, “Come on...Let’s go see that light show.” I say as I carry her back into the crowds where I made my way to the center where it all began.

It was as I remembered, the lights went dark as a man in red with a jolly belly lit up the whole area. He was getting on his slay of magical flying deer that circled the area before stopping at a rooftop where he hopped off with his large bag of goodies. He would then slide down the chimney and walk over to the tree where he’d lay out his gift but before he would tend to cookies and milk. After having his fill he’d lay out a few wrapped boxes that would be picked up by a child that was handed to the parents. They would open it up only to have the box burst open with it saying, “Merry Christmas To You All!” with the jolly red man giving a ho ho ho.

The lights dimmed but soon came up and the people cheered and clapped before taking their leave. Fluttershy and I were one of the last to leave since we still had so much to see. Fluttershy was beyond amazed, I remember the face she had clearly. Wide eyes, open mouth of awe and absolute and utter speechlessness. When it ended she could hardly believe what she saw but it sure made her smile very happily.

When we got back Fluttershy was long asleep while I was carefully removing her hoodie and taking her to our room. There I laid her down gently before stripping down to shirt and shorts and of course boxers. I carefully climbed in and snuggled closely to her before holding her lovingly to keep her warm. I stared at her resting face as I drifted off but before I did I gave her a long lasting kiss.

“Merry Christmas Fluttershy, I love you.”

Fluttershy smiled, “Merry Christmas, I love you too.”

My eyes widened as my faced turned dark red.
