As everyone felt the ground beneath their feet again, they all looked around at the state Sombra and Chrysalis had made of Canterlot.
The streets were bare from ponies, just like in Ponyville no sound being heard apart from the distant sound of Changeling wings as they flew overhead looking for ponies to take to Sombra and Chrysalis.
Black crystals were scattered everywhere looking as if they had just grown out of the road and buildings. And even though the sun was up and shining, the town seemed to be cloaked in darkness.
"You sure this is the right place Twilight?" Jack asked looking around a frown on his face.
"Yes," she answered stepping ahead a bit. "Why?"
"It's just last time I came and visited, Canterlot was more... Colorful, with music and laughter bouncing off of the crystal free buildings, and it didn't want me to hide myself in my room for a week."
"Bet Sombra and Chrysalis weren't ruling the place when that happened though were they?" Rainbow said not liking this place one bit even though it was her home.
Suddenly the sound of wings buzzing got a tad bit louder as a group of Changelings decided to look down the street they were in.
"Quick everypony, down here," Twilight said leading the way into an ally knowing the place, even though it was a darker version of itself, like the back of her hoof.
Just as Fluttershy and Pinkamena disappeared from the Changeling's line of sight, they came down the road hissing at each other pausing and landing sniffing the air.
"What are they doing?" Fluttershy asked in a quiet voice curled up into a tight ball wings clamped to her sides tail wrapped around herself.
"I think they can smell someones been there," Sarah said trying to act like this was a guess looking out at the two who looked up at her. Quickly Sarah flashed her eyes green so fast only Changelings could see it saying 'I have these ponies, carry on looking for others.' through their minds.
After hissing at each other some more, the two Changelings flew off again.
"Phew," Rainbow said happy they were gone. "I thought for sure they looked at us for a minute there."
"Me too," Applejack said trying to reassure Fluttershy everything was alright. "Wonder why they didn't attack us."
Eric and Jack just looked to each other for this but said nothing.
"Well I could of taken on those bugs," Pinkamena said stepping back out into the street. "You see the next time we see some Changelings, their mine."
"Then how will we find out where the prisoners are if you kill all of them Pinkie?" Jack asked stepping out to the street wearing a black cloak, a cardboard scythe in his hand, trying not to scare Fluttershy.
"He has a point Pinkie, darling." Rarity said coming out next rolling her eyes at his outfit.
"Speaking of prisoners," Eric said changing his sword into a bow and arrow coming out with Twilight and Rainbow Dash "Do any of you girls know where the entrance to the caves are so we can rescue them, if we can't find a Changeling to hold a knife to his neck to, for the answer?"
"Not really," Twilight said looking around before moving on down the road. "Last time Chrysalis put me down there from the throne room from the castle, and Cadence and I was in too much of a rush to save my brother to take any notice of where we came up from."
"You have a brother?" the Eric and Sarah asked together surprised.
"So why isn't he here helping us out now." Eric asked carefully sensing this was something no one wanted to talk about.
"Because as Captain of the Royal Guard, he lead them into battle against the Changelings when they first attacked giving us time to escape but was caught along with the others as soon as we left." Twilight said trying to sound strong and not let tears fall.
"Look on the bright side Twi," Jack said up on someones balcony so he would be safe from what may or may not come from this comment. "At least he's not under her control this time, with his eyes going all..." Here Jack made his eyes swirl in different directions sticking his tongue for effect "...and being forced to marry her."
Quickly he zapped off of the balcony he was on as a beam of purple anger shot at him from an annoyed Twilight.
"Just how long have you been coming here boy?" Applejack asked looking around searching for Jack.
"A while..." Jack said on top of a doughnut shop a box of doughnuts in his hand deciding which one to have vanishing once again as another streak was shot at him.
"And how long is 'A while'?" Rainbow asked slightly worried but slightly amused that this boy was getting the best of Twilight.
"I was here when Applejack made the whole town ill with food poisoning from her 'baked bads' during Applebuck Season." Jack said sitting on the roof above her with a little diary in his hand and reading glasses held to his eyes."When you Rainbow and AJ founded the Iron Pony Competitions and tied for last place in the Running of the Leaves." he said zapping off to avoid Twilight's aim. "When Rarity had those stupid butterfly wings and flew too close to the sun and had them burnt off and had to be saved by Rainbow Dash," he continued once again just missing Twilight's beam that was getting darker with each shot with her anger.
"When Pinkie thought you abandoned her and lied to her because none of you liked her parties any more. And one I'm very happy of here... When Twilight made the whole of Ponyville run around for her childhood toy scared that she'll get a ... A tardy!" Jumping up just barley missing the one that was just shot.
"QUIT MOVING!" Twilight yelled looking all over the place for this Student of Discord.
"Surprisingly I haven't gotten anything from Fluttershy," Jack said flipping through his book right next to her. "But I'm sure there were somethings you did wasn't there?" he asked making Fluttershy to hide behind her mane in shame.
"Well back to your answer Rainbow." he said at last being hit with one of Twilight's shots being blasted into the wall.
"Jack!" Sarah called running over to her cousin helping him into a sitting position, as everyone looked over to Twilight purple mist coming out of her eyes her horn still forming black and purple bubbles.
"Twi..." Rainbow asked a tad scared seeing her friend like this. "You in there?"
"Emma, no." Jack said tears running down his cheeks mist in the corners of his eyes, hands clenched to the sides of his head.
"Jack, Jack speak to me...." Sarah said shaking him as he held his head trying not to scream from the fear and pain he was having and alert the Changelings they were there. "What did you do?" she asked looking to Twilight who just snapped out of what ever it was she was in rubbing her head.
"I...He..." Twilight began stepping away eyes locked on Jack.
"Don't you dare say 'He started it'" Sarah said getting up shooting Twilight daggers. "If you hadn't been shooting at him you wouldn't of hit him."
"Well Weirdo, if Jack hadn't made Twi want to shoot at him in the first place, and increase her anger by missing her shots like he did, it wouldn't of gotten this bad." Rainbow said stepping up to Twilight.
"Ok, enough of the 'Blame-Game'" Eric said coming over to check on Jack on guard to hold on to 'Sarah' if she charged towards Twilight. "Just tell us what's going on and how we can fix it."
Just then more wings were heard as a bunch of Changelings were coming over to investigate what all the fuss and magical shots were about.
"Quick, follow me," Twilight said running down the road the others following, Eric, sword away, piggybacking Jack and holding Sarah's hand as they ran toward Canterlot Library.
