//------------------------------// // 1 - The Book // Story: The Legend of the Rare Rainbow Diamond, Rarest Diamond that Ever Existed // by Blue Tiger //------------------------------// Rarity knocked on the front door of the library. The door opened to reveal the purple Alicorn named Twilight Sparkle. "Oh, hey, Rarity," She said. "Hello, Twilight." Rarity said. "I need to check out a book of dress designs." "Right this way then," Twilight said. She went to the shelf that has a few books Rarity asked for. She used her magic to get one down and gave it to Rarity. "Here you go." "Thank you," Rarity said. "You see, my designs are getting kinda old and I need-" She stopped in mid-sentence when she noticed a book with a multi-colored diamond on the front cover. She walked to it and used her magic to lift it off the shelf. "Uh... What're you doing?" Twilight asked. Rarity studied the book's cover for another moment and said, "Can I check this book out too?" "The book of the rare Rainbow Diamond?" Twilight said. "That' diamond is the rarest diamond that ever existed." "Rarest diamond ever existed you say?" Rarity said. "Yeah. If you wanna check the book out, you can." "I will!" "Great." Twilight wrote the titles of the books on her Checked-Out list. "Thank you, Twilight," Rarity said. And with that, she left the library. ********** Rarity put the book of the rare Rainbow Diamond on her table, opened it, and started to read it out loud: "The rare Rainbow Diamond is the rarest diamond that ever existed. There are only five in existence, but only one has been discovered somewhere on the Himalayan Mountains. Legend has it that anypony who finds this one diamond will have good luck for the rest of their lives. It is extremely valuable and could be worth over $1.5 billion!" That was all Rarity was able to read before her little sister, Sweetie Belle came in the room. "What're you reading?" Sweetie Belle asked. "I'm reading this book of the rare Rainbow Diamond," Rarity said. "Rare Rainbow Diamond?" Sweetie Belle said. "Let me see!" She jumped onto the chair next to Rarity and read a paragraph. "Cool!" "Yes, I would say," Rarity said. "I must find the diamond." She went upstairs to get her saddle bag. When she came back down, there was a knock on the door. Rarity opened it to reveal Spike. "Hey, Rarity," Spike said. "Do you remember when Twilight let you borrow those sapphires? She kinda needs them back now" "Ah, yes of course," Rarity said. "Sweetie, can you get the sapphires Twilight let me borrow?" "Okay!" Sweetie Belle went upstairs and came back down a minute later with at least three sapphires. She gave them to Rarity, who gave them to Spike. "Thank you," Spike said. "Oh, were you going somewhere?" He noticed Rarity's saddle bags. "Yes I am," Rarity said. "I am going to find the rare Rainbow Diamond." She showed him the book. "Oh, but you can't go alone!" Spike said. The word 'diamond' made him lick his lips a little. He was already thinking of how a Rainbow Diamond would taste. "You're right," Rarity said. "Hey, Sweetie! Do you want to go with me to find the Rainbow Diamond?" "I can't," Sweetie Belle answered. "I have a meeting with the other Cutie Mark Crusaders later." "Well, okay," Rarity said to Spike. "You can come." "Great!" Spike said. "I'll go get some food to eat on the way." He was just about to go until Rarity stopped him. "Spike! This diamond is in the Himalayan Mountains all the way in China. We're gonna need more than just a couple bags of chips or something." She went to her kitchen and made a ton of sandwiches. Over thirty minutes later, there had to be at least two hundred sandwiches. "Okay then," Spike said. "I'll just... go grab my backpack and I'll be right back." And with that, he left Carousel Boutique and came back five minutes later with a backpack nearly twice his size. "I'm ready!"
