Soarin's Nightmare
Chapter 2

The hotel room had one double bed, a two piece couch, a small coffee table and a small kitchen area. When Fleetfoot and Misty got there, Fleetfoot opened the door and motioned for Misty to enter. They both walked in and sat on the couch, where they sat in silence for a little while until Fleetfoot spoke up.

“Hey Misty? Can I get you something to eat, or drink?” Fleetfoot asked.

“Yeah, a glass of water, please.”

“Ok, then.” Fleetfoot walked over to the kitchen and got glass of water for her friend, and a bottle of wine and an empty glass. She walked back to where her friend was and set the drinks onto the small coffee table.

“Thank you,” Misty replied. Another moment of silence passed, before Misty spoke again. “Hey, um, Fleetfoot?”

“Yeah whats up?”

“Why did you want me to stay over tonight?” She asked looking at the ground.

Fleetfoot was unsure how to answer the question, she didn’t want to tell her friend that she was lonely, not to mention a fillyfooler. So she had to think of an answer.

“What? Can’t friends have sleepovers anymore?” She asked hesitantly. “What kind of answer was that?”  She thought.

“Um, no, not at our ages”

“Oh.” Fleetfoot just sat in silence for a while, she poured some of the wine into her glass and took a sip. Unfortunately for Fleetfoot the time seemed to drag on

Soarin’ and Spitfire sat on the couch at his place eating pizza, he had been meaning to ask his marefriend something all day but he just couldn’t think of the way to do it. He got up after finishing his last pizza slice and walked out of the room and walked up to his bedroom. For a while he was rummaging through his drawers looking for an item.

When he found what he was looking for he returned to Spitfire with the item tucked under his wing.

He stood on his hind legs and kneeled down in front of Spitfire, and reached for the small blue box under his wing.

“Spitfire, will you do me the honour of being my wife?” He asked as he opened the box to reveal a diamond necklace.

“Yes, I will,” she replied, now with water starting to fwell up in her eyes, and a smile on her face.

Soarin’ got up and gave her a light nuzzle. “I love you!”

“Love you too.” She said as she returned the gesture in nuzzling him back.

They sat in each other’s embrace for a while before going bed..

Soarin’ walked into the locker room of the Canterlot arena, where he went to see Spitfire before he started his flight.

“Hey!” He said as he walked up to her and gave her a hug.

“Hi, you ready for the show?”

“Yeah, I’m on just after Misty lands.”

After a while Misty had landed and Soarin’ was in the tunnel ready to take off. The sun was at its peak in the sky, the heat was beating down on the arena with a light breeze, perfect for flying.

Soarin’ awoke from the short dream, not sure why it ended earlier than usual, but was grateful for it.

He looked to his side to see an empty half of the bed, with a note on the pillow.

Soarin’.

Gone for a flight,

Will be back later tonight,

love Spits.

He didn’t know if Spitfire intended for him to wake up that night, but he let it slide. He put the note back on the other pillow and laid back down. A few minutes had passed and he still couldn’t sleep, so he reached for a book he had on the little square table next to his bed. He opened the book to the page that had a bookmark in it and began to read.

Fleetfoot was half asleep on the couch, When Misty looked to her friend, she noticed that her head was on her shoulder. She didn’t want to seem rude or anything, but she was feeling a bit uncomfortable.

“Hey, Fleetfoot?” She asked in a whispered tone. “You awake?”

“Huh? Yeah, what’s up?” Fleetfoot replied through yawns.

“Why are you using my shoulder as a pillow?” she asked jokingly

Fleetfoot remained silent for a while, all that could be heard was the wall clock on the other side of the hotel room.

“Fleetfoot, talk to me. Why did you really want me to stay over?” A concerned yellow mare asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I, um...Do you promise to not tell anypony else on the team?”

“Yeah, I do.”

“Well, I feel kinda lonely, it feels like I’m missing something in my life.” Fleetfoot said, her eyes tearing up. Can you help me? Please, help me find a marefriend.”

Misty was speechless, her best friend was a fillyfooler? “I, um...Wait! You’re into mares?”

“Yeah, is that a problem?” She asked, all of her sadness turned to anger at the thought of her friend not liking her because of her sexuality .

“No, I don’t have a problem Fleet, I just never expected you of all ponies to be a fillyfooler.”

Fleetfoot was relieved that her friend didn’t hate her because she was different.

“After tomorrow’s training we will go out and meet some mares. I promise.” Misty promised before she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

“Thank you,” Fleetfoot replied as she did the same.
