//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: The Evil Sets In // Story: The Only Ones That Can Save Them All // by Rainbow_Dash_14008 //------------------------------// Princess Luna walked out to balcony with her sister, Princess Celestia. "Here, let us lower the sun an hour early tonight," said Celestia, "then maybe more ponies will enjoy the moon tonight." Luna looked at Celestia, "but won't everypony be confused though. We try to stay on schedule most of the time. If the night comes early, some of the inhabitants may freak out or something." Celestia giggled a little, "Don't worry dear sister, everything will be all right, I already told the Royal Guard to post notices throughout Equestria. I would believe everypony is ready for the early night." "Allright," Luna replied, "Let's do this." Celestia's horn glowed, and proceeded to lower the sun. Luna then raised the moon and awoken the stars from their daily slumber. Celestia yawned, "Good night Luna. I have a lot of things to do in the morning, so unfortunately I have to go to bed. See you tomorrow, and I will try to stay up late with you some night soon." Luna watched her sister retreat into the castle. She smiled, and took off in flight to the night sky. She flew a bit before settling on a cloud that was drifting passed. Bored, she played with the night sky, rearranging some of the stars. Then she had an idea. Her magic glowed as she prepared to brighten the sky with a light show of shooting stars. Just as the stars were about to enter the sky, she stopped. Something didn't feel right. Luna felt a presence, and not a good one. She then felt something groping at her...mind. Eyes opening wide, she then cast a spell of her own invention. It was a spell meant to protect the mind of evil thoughts and presences. She created it after the Nightmare Moon incident, as she never wanted that to happen ever again. Was that what was happening now? Had her jealously been building up without her even knowing? She sat there, battling with the darkness that was trying to take over her. After what seemed like an eternity, it subsided. Gasping, Luna sat up, breathing heavily. "Wha-what was that?" she whispered to herself quietly, "I'd better go tell Celestia." She quickly flew back to the castle to warn her sister. She landed and saw Celestia. She was waiting in Luna's bedroom, and she looked angry. "Celestia, I need to tell you something," Luna began, wondering why Celestia looked so mad. "Of course you do Luna," Celestia replied sternly, "what were you doing? You know you are not allowed to leave the castle unless I give you permission, which I did not." Luna gasped, "Wha-what? You must be mistaken Tia, I-I never heard you say such a thing! What happened?" Celestia shook her head, "The rules have been made clear enough Luna. You broke them, so you will face the consequences just like anypony else that breaks them." "But-but," Luna stammered, she had no idea what her sister was talking about. What rules? "No buts!" shouted Celestia harshly, "for your violation of the law you will be sentenced to a confinement in your room for a week. You will not be able to raise the moon, I will handle it until your punishment is over. Do I make myself clear?" "But-but I," Luna began, but stopped, "Yes sister, you-you have made yourself clear. I-I accept my...punishment..." "Very good," Celestia replied, "but quit the 'sister', 'Celestia' and 'Tia' nonsense. You shall address me as Princess Celestia, or Your Majesty, just like everypony else is required to do." With that, Celestia left the room, as Luna sat there, completely stunned. What had happened to Celestia? She had never acted that way before. "Maybe," Luna whispered as she lay on her bed thinking, "Maybe that presence I felt earlier wasn't just trying to get to me. Maybe it tried to get into Celestia's head too. And maybe not just us two, what if everypony in Equestria was affected?" She lay there thinking. If that were true, then she would have to try very hard to convince anypony to believe her. But she needed help to get to the bottom of whatever was affecting Equestria. But where would she find help? The more she thought about it, the more the answer became clear. She knew of a world that was unknown to most ponies. Even Twilight didn't know, although she had been to a world like it, the one Luna knew of was quite different. The human world.
