The Elements of Affinities

Evoking Water

Pinkie Pie's POV

I woke up next to Rainbow Dash, my head throbbing, body aching. I tried to open my eyes, but my eyes were too dry and sore to see anything, so I kept my eyes shut, but picked my head up, ignoring the pain it caused. Then, I looked down at my hind legs to see the ghost of the Sea lapping against my hooves. Well, heck. I really CAN control water.

When I could open my eyes again, I saw my friends start to rise up. Twilight was frantically looking in a book for something, Applejack rubbed her ears, Rainbow hugged her knees to her chest, Rarity muttered, Fluttershy was still unconscious, and I just stood there, staring like an idiot. The ghost Sea lapped against our hooves, but no one but me noticed it.

I also noticed that nothing was actually getting wet, but it sure looked like it was. I zoned out so long I didn't notice Rainbow, Applejack, and Rarity with Fluttershy in her forelegs were walking out of the library. I was getting ready to leave, until Twilight laid a hoof on my shoulder. "Pinkie. I want to see you." Twilight said. I nodded and sat in front of her.

"Pinkie, you know you have an affinity just like the rest of us, right?" Twilight asked. I didn't know what an affinity was, so I shook my head instead. Twilight pursed her lips, then took my hooves in hers and started to talk again. "So... An affinity i...is a special connection you have with an Element. Like your Element of Harmony." Twilight explained. I nodded.

I thought for a while, then squeezed her hooves and bounced up and down. "Wh...oah! Pinkie! Stooop!" Twilight stuttered through the bounces. I blushed and stopped, Twilight trying to straighten her mane out. After she was done, Twilight smiled and grabbed my hooves again. "Now, Pinkie, lets try to CONTROL water." Twilight said. I nodded happily and sat back down.

I closed my eyes and listened to Twilight's words. "Now, grip my hooves and listen to the rest of my words." Twilight said. I nodded again and shut my eyes tighter. "Now, imagine the Sea. Hear the waves, smell the salty air, see the waves lap against the earth and your hooves." Twilight said. I nodded and did what she said.

I could hear the waves roaring against my hooves and into my ears. I could smell the salty sweet air of the sea. I could see the waves rush against my hooves and wet the fur there. I breathed in the scent and felt, relaxed. Not as energetic as I usually do. I then imagined the waves lifting at my command and piling itself into my hooves. It swirled around and around my forelegs.

"So, Pinkie. You have any control of it yet?" Twilight broke through my thoughts and the bubble on my hoof popped and turned into water droplets. I yelped as I heard the pop. "Gosh, Twilight! You scared me!" I yelped. Twilight chuckled. "Sorry, Pinkie. Anyway. It looks like you have control over water, now." Twilight said. I nodded.

I nodded again and walked out the door. I ran all the way to the lake and sat down at the shore. I put my hoof in the water and swirled it until it created a mini whirl pool. A bunch of bubbles and waves swirled around me and roared against my ears. I gasped as I felt my lungs fill with water. I coughed and wheezed as Water clogged my throat and lungs.

I took a few breaths, but it was no use as I felt my hooves tire and my vision go in and out of focus. Eventually, I blacked out. The last thing I heard and saw were my friends. Applejack yelled and swirled her hoof around to try to get mine, Rainbow whirled around in the air frantically, Fluttershy fluttered her eyes open, then whimpered fuzzily, Rarity screamed, and Twilight's horn glowed with a lavender light.
