Our Dying Days

Honesty

I lay in bed, surrounded by my family. The reunion was going great, until I started going down. Now, I know i'm at the end of my rope. almost my entire family was there. some hung their heads in silence, while others sobbed uncontrollably. A mare, maybe fifteen years younger than me, approached. She placed my hoof and hers as tears silently fell onto the sheets. I looked at her and our eyes locked for a moment. She smiled at me and said, "Thanks for being there for me sis. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for you."
I responded to this with a smile of my own. "Now you just have ta do the same for yer foals." She gave me a light kiss on the forehead before rushing away. Another pony approached, this one about five years older than me. When he arrived, I said, "'Taint fare." he looked at me confused before I said, "Mah older brother aint suppose ta out live me." He gave a small chuckled before giving me a hug. as he left, I watched a single tear fall from his face. As I felt death approaching, I crossed my hooves and closed my eyes. The crying grew louder before fading into nothing.
