//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 : Life // Story: Welcome to my World // by Maxis122 //------------------------------// Welcome to my World - Chapter 1 : Life By Maxis122 The universe is a mysterious place that still cannot be explained. Many have tried in the past but have only been able to make theories. These theories have, in time, been handed down and changed until they have been accepted as truth among everybody. There only needs to a single piece of evidence for a theory to be stopped and forgotten. That is why when someone says to you that the universe is expanding, you would probably agree with them. Thanks to science we now all believe pretty much anything that they say. But people only need something out of the ordinary to change their mind. Such a thing could be a message, a meteor or even another person. We all have our different views of the universe and that is something that will never change. ------------- It was a cold day in winter when Max was walking home from his work. His feet were cold and the snow was getting inside of his shoes. Each step made a crunch sound as the snow was compressed below Max’s foot. It was meant to be like any other day as nothing special was going on. The world was still in conflict but this never affected Max. His life was quite as he liked to keep things to himself. He had a couple of friends but most of the time these friends were never seen by him. He was nearing his house that was another hundred meters away. Everything was still and quite around him. The work Max did was a simple work at a game retail shop. Day in, day out people would come and buy their goods and leave. The only conversation Max would have is him saying "Would you like a used copy instead? It's cheaper". Max felt cheap when he was trying to do this. Only the dumb ones would follow Max's advice, others would just shake their head and leave. Max stopped for a moment to let his feet rest. He looked around at the street that he lived on. Every house was being boarded up and many of the people were moving out. He was one of the last people there and soon the land was going to be turned into a new business park. Max watched the still trees and then began to walk again. The crunching sound was back again. All of a sudden a rustle sound came from the tree above. Max glanced at the tree but then looked away as he thought it was just a bird. The rustle sound continued for a few more seconds until a flapping sound happened. This was probably the bird so Max continued walking. Then he heard something landing on the roof of the house to his left. He glanced at this house and dismissed it. It was only a blue blob. Max then stopped in his tracks as he just processed what he had saw. He looked to the house again and there was nothing there. This house was boarded off but the door was open. Max stared at this door for a few moments. Part of him wanted to go inside but the other part said otherwise. He shook his head and then began to walk again. It was only nothing he thought. He only took a few steps before a tile from the top of the house smashed on the ground. Max recoiled and looked behind him. He looked around the house and there was still nothing there. He walked back over to the house and looked to where the tile had landed. He then looked up and there was the clouded sky above. He then looked inside the building and stared at the darkness inside. Confusion and doubt was running through his head. Should he go in the house? He took a step back and examined the door to the house. He reached into his pocket and brought out his phone. He turned it on and waited for it to load. He looked up again at the house and there was nothing other than the boards that intimidated him. His phone was loaded and Max quickly enabled the flashlight application on it. The screen went into a strong white and began to light up. Max pointed it at the house and then took a deep breath. He took a few steps towards the house and put his hand on the door. He pushed the door open and looked inside. There was nothing inside the house; there were just the plain walls and the power plugs on the walls. Max looked left and right but there was nothing there. He then turned his attention to the stairs. They were brittle and broken up. It looked like a carpet had been ripped off of it. Other than that they looked pretty stable. Max looked up the stairs and then all of a sudden the blue blob quickly moved away from the top. What was this thing that Max was chasing? He was still and couldn’t move. He wanted to get out but his curiosity was getting the better of him. There were sounds of movement from upstairs. Max then moved his foot forward and began to move. He got to the stairs and he slowly began to move up them. Each step caused a creek in the wood and this was just making things even worse. The destination was getting closer but he was still unsure of what he was getting himself into. The sounds of movement stopped when he got to the top and he looked to where the blob went to. There was only one door open when he looked down the hallway. Max approached this door and looked inside. The room only had a few boxes inside. Max shined the light over the room before he heard a thud from behind him. A jolt of fear shot through him and he looked around to see something blue running around. Max let out a shout of fear before running down the stairs and running out of the house. He made a sharp turn left and ran towards his house. He searched his pockets and struggled to find his keys. They were in his hands but through his fear his hands were not responding to his commands. The key was then in his hand and he shoved it into the lock. His breathing was becoming faster and heavier as he turned the key to his house. The door unlocked and he forced himself inside. He locked the door and ran up the stairs to his bedroom. He jumped onto his bed and pulled the covers over him. His eyes shifted as he looked at the cover and tried to think about what had happened. He then pulled the cover off his head and he got out of bed. The room was silent and so was the street. Max opened the window and looked outside. The street was empty. He then though back again. The blue blob; what was it? For now Max could only use logic to deduce that it was a bird or a cat. But then again it was too big to be a normal animal. So what it was is now a mystery.
