//------------------------------// // Chapter 3 - Instinct // Story: Multiple Human Crossover Story Number 1 // by Ginger Pony //------------------------------// Chapter 3 Instinct ---------------------------------------- “Quick, guard the exits! Harry, I want you to head to the balcony to keep an eye out!” Roan barked, pulling out his hammer and adopting a fighting stance. “Got it!” Harry responded, brandishing his wand as the young wizard started heading for the stairs leading to a higher point in the building. “Gimli, Deadpool! Cover the rear exit!” “It'll be a cold day in hell when I get killed by some prancing ponies.” He growled, pulling out his battle axe, and running towards the back door of the library, oblivious to the other six ponies in the room, and locking it. Deadpool said nothing, but pulled out the holstered pistols, and joined Gimli, spying out of a nearby window. “Bruce; we cant risk you turning again; god knows what you'd do to us; see if you can take cover somewhere as a last resort.” Roan said, slightly softer as he backed himself against the wall beside the main entrance. Bruce just nodded, the weak looking male jogging deeper into the library, finding shelter in a small reading alcove, watching from a distance. “Remember! These beings are supposed highly strong in both magical and physical strength; we need an element of surprise!” “Two alicorns spotted west coming from the rear!” Harry called, running back down the stairs. “And they seem to be accompanied by at least a dozen guards!” “Ha!” Gimli barked. “They have not the nerve to challenge us directly!” Harry moved to join Roan beside the front door, in case they decide to surround the building. “I see them!” Deadpool called, finally spotting the convey Harry mentioned. Two alicorns (for they had both a horn and a pair of wings) were approaching the library; one white, the other smaller and a dark blue. Neither had any armour on, but the guards surrounding them as they strode purposely towards the building we're armed to the teeth. Armour, spears, and crossbows glinted in the afternoon sun. “Deadpool! See if you can take out some of the guards; we don’t want to cause too many deaths, so try and only injure them!” Roran ordered, running to join the rear guard as Harry remained put. “Enough.” The command was barely a raised voice, but every human turned to the source, stock still. Sebastian, who was still sat on the floor, slowly rose to his feet, a rather disturbing calm air around him. “No one is going to harm any living being.” He said calmly. “We have arrived, through no fault of our own into their land; what would you do in your position of power in your own realm?” He questioned. Roran growled. “I'd slit their throat before they had a chance to talk that's what!” he dragged his thumb across his neck to emphasise the point. “Eeep!” Fluttershy's squeal of terror finally brought the other humans back to some reasonable sense. The humans looked towards the ponies, who were huddled in a corner, bodies low and ears down. They were scared. Scared of the humans that were prepared to kill at a moments notice. Even Rainbow; the most loyal of the bunch, was terrified of the situation. Sebastian sighed. “And that is why you're not in a position of power.” He turned towards the cowering ponies and squatted to their level. “I apologise for their actions; you can understand our current predicament.” He said calmly, extending a gloved hand towards them. “I can promise you we mean no harm.” Adding a warm smile. Without looking behind him, he said to the other humans “Put down your weapons; show them we mean no harm.” The others paused. “We're surrounded...” Harry said, looking back out the window. A few more guards had arrived, and were currently positioned all around the circumference of the building. The two alicorns had moved around to the front, and were waiting a small distance away. “Please... Mr Roan? The p-princesses really don’t mean a-any harm.” Fluttershy mumbled, hiding behind both the other ponies, and her bangs. Roran's eyes softened. “...We're sorry we caused you stress.” He said in a slightly softer tone than before. “But I doubt I could relinquish complete hold on my weapons; goes against my survival skills.” to emphasise, he holstered his hammer rather than dropped it, and his hands hung at his sides. “That will be fine enough.” Sebastian said, reassuring the ponies. “Now, Ms Twilight, as this is your abode, would you care to let in the Princesses? I do believe they're waiting.” He said. Meanwhile, the others had put away their weapons, but skill had an eye of distrust at the figures outside. Bruce came out of his hiding spot, and joined them. “I- yes. I'd best do that.” She said, taking Sebastian's hand in her hoof, and pulling herself up. She, as well as the others, managed to compose themselves enough. Applejack and Rainbow eyes the humans apprehensively; Pinkie's mane was slowly going more curly from it's current straight hair, and Rarity was comforting Fluttershy in hushed whispers, as they too rose to all four hooves. Sidestepping Sebastian’s tea set that he'd left on the floor, Twilight walked over to the door, and opened it manually, opening the way for the Princesses of Equestria.
