Chapter 6
A change of plans


"You think he doesn't like you?" Twilight sighed, shaking her head. "Rainbow, we went over this last week. Even Spike said so. He's teasing you because he likes you."
"You sure?"
"As sure as I was last week."
"Right... well, we have ambassadors to meet."
"And Changelings to ask out?"
"I'll ask him later!"
"Will you?"
"Yes, I promise Twi, only if you promise to stay going steady with Flash."
"Deal."





"So the only reason you're letting me stay here is because you made a deal with Dash?" Flash asked Twilight raising an eyebrow. "That seems rude..."
"Well no," Twilight sighed shaking her head. "I'd have said yes regardless, but I just wanted to tell you about it."
"That's fine Twi." He chuckled, patting her shoulder. "I'm just glad you still like me."
"Well.. why wouldn't I?"
"I don't know."
"So, Ambassador."
"Yes Princess?"
"Nothing... I just like saying it."
"I see." Flash sighed, shaking his head. "I noticed Discord has a house next door. Didn't realize he got a job."
"Well... Actually I don't know how he had the bits to buy the house..."
"Really?"
"He doesn't work." Twilight nodded. "All he does is hang around and eat chocolate he got from Midnight."
"She's that half changeling that owns the confectionery Pinkie was talking about right?"
"Mhm" Twilight nodded. "She does, and they are actually good."
"I think I'll try them out..."
"Remember though, you're Equestria's Ambassador."
"I know." He chuckled, shaking his head. "I take it they are out telling the ponies what's going on."
"Yes, Applejack, Luna, and Rainbow are telling the ponies at large. It'll be my job to inform the council of their new duties. Tomorrow."
"And tonight?" Flash asked, a soft smile on his face.
"Spend time with my coltfriend, who I haven't seen in almost ten years?" Twilight responded sheepishly.
"Exactly."

"So that's the deal." Twilight sighed, concluding her speech. "As of last night, you ponies are no longer just the council of a simple colony, but the congress in a new nation. And, as such there are certain duties that have to be taken care of."
"And who will be in charge of this executive branch you spoke of? If the ponies are to elect their leaders, here then who will be in charge of that branch?" One of the Unicorns asked. "Surely it will have to be someone who is here now."
"Actually, we talked about that already." Twilight sighed. "And if you were listening past that you were incharge of a nation you'd know we decided that to not be true."
"Are you telling us, that if we are in this... congress we can't be a part of the other branches."
"Yes." Twilight nodded, a oft smile on her face. "That is to avoid one pony from being to powerful. Remember, this is a Republic, not an empire like Equestria. There are no absolute rulers here."
"Then, if it is Luna's fault should she not be in charge of the Executive Branch?" A Pegasi asked, which caused Twilight to sigh.
"That's up to the ponies, they are the ones voting."
"Yeah, about that..." Rainbow said as she walked in, chuckling.
"What?"
"The ponies are done voting."
"Already?"
"They finished last night."
"Really? That fast?"
"It seems everyone here, still looks up to Luna." Rainbow chuckled, shaking her head. "They all demanded that we open the polls right there after I was done explaining what was happening. And guess who got 100% of the votes?"
"Luna?"
"Yup." Rainbow said, still chuckling. "Hello, and welcome Lunar Republic's first President, Lunamaria Eclipse."
"That's not funny Rainbow."
"Yeah, actually it is."
"Okay, it's a little funny." Twilight sighed, shaking her head. "I wonder how Rarity and Fluttershy are doing..."
"They'll be fine Twi." Rainbow said patting Twilight on the back. "Rarity is actually a tough pony, after you get past the froufrou... And Flutters, I'm sure her animal friends are keeping her company."
"I'm sure your right Rainbow... And how do you know that about Rarity, you two barely talked."
"You... don't want to know."
"I don't?"
"No."





"So, first president of the Lunar Republic." Deacon chuckled, as he walked up to Luna. "I wonder how that happened."
"I banished my sister."
"And?"
"How am I better then her?" She asked, looking up from the fountain. "I banished her, just as she did me. What if I'm no better then her? Would I have done the same in her place, what ever that is? Would I?
"I highly doubt that you would have." Deacon sighed, patting her back. "You are to kind, and you care for ponies way to much to hide anything from them."
"How do you know?"
"I just do." He chuckled, shaking his head. "Trust me, you will do fine as the President."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."





"Welcome back Rainbow." Cloudchaser said, chuckling.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing."
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
"Have you seen Shinze?"
"No, why?" Cloudchaser said, blinking. "What did he do this time?"
"Nothing. I just have to ask him something."
"I see."
"What? What's with that look?"
"You usually ask for Shinze if he did something, or you need him to do something." Cloudchaser sighed. "What's up Rainbow?"
"Nothing, I just need to ask him something." Rainbow replied, looking away. "That is all."
"I saw a blush Rainbow."
"I made a deal with Twi."
"Oh?"
"I'd ask Shinze out if she got back with Flash."
"Wait, Flash Sentry's here?"
"Yeah, he's Equestria's Ambassador."
"Nice choice..."
"I think she chose him because it would distract Twi."
"Now, what's this I hear about asking Shinze out?"
"Nevermind," Rainbow sighed. "Forget I said anything."
"You like him?"
"If I do?"
"I'm just surprised you like somepony other then yourself."
"Hey, I'm not selfish."
