//------------------------------// // Memories of a rampaging dragon // Story: Time never stands still // by Dradavar //------------------------------// Chapter 8 After my brunch with Celestia, Luna and Shining Armor I went back to my room, getting out of the dress. After that I just stood there, looking at nothing. It was total stagnation. And then it was evening. But the day had changed. The day, the location, it seems the time itself had changed. "Hey!" a voice behind me, a mare, shouts at me, "Hey, Siren! We have to go!" I turn around and see Shining Insignia looking at me, she was wearing her magical armour. Unlike my own, her armour was smaller than one would anticipated, she was wearing practically no guard at all, only her hindlegs, together with the hooves, and a small part of her back were guarded, the armour on her hooves ending in a claw like fashion. Three spikes growing out of the the armour over her spine. But the plating didn't stop on her spine, it was also around her neck, closed in front of her chest almost like a regalia. All in all she didn't look like a pony anymore. More like a feral beast, but it wasn't the armour around her body that gave her this feral look. It was her helmet. The armour, running up the back of her head, around her ears and down the sides of her jaw, growing out in front of her mouth in a teeth like fashion. Looking like the lower jaw of some gigantic beast. Like that of a dragon. 'Thinking about it' while seeing her in her armour, 'almost all of our armours look like a dragon. Only Cracked Ices armour is different' shivering in rememberance of him showing his armour to us for the first time. "Siren!" I shrug, looking at her again, "we have problems! More Dark-clan members try to enter the sun-hall" my ears perk up, I hear the shouts of the guards and the Dark-clan" I nod, walking to Garnjiel, noticing the shine of the five different coloured runes on it, hauling it on my back, my body suddenly clad in the dark red armour, a ghostly image of my primary rune burning wildly over my forehead, between the horns. My eyes, normally a light green, turn into crimson, a wild grin appears on my face. "For our queen" I whisper to myself. A flash, white and bright cuts through my vision. I see myself rampaging through the enemy lines, together with my four brothers and sister, blood gushing out of the wounds of everything in the path of Garnjiel. 'Shouts, cries and the beg for mercy are my battlesong' I think grimly, laughing at my enemies with a menacing tone, making them shrugg in fear. "For our queen!" I shout, my comrades answering with a loud howl. My eyes turn to black, "For my queen" I whisper to myself, ramming the blade into my next enemy, showering in his blood. I open my eyes again. My breathing was heavy and fast, I was sweating and gasping. 'What was that?' I ask myself, remembering the scene. It was a day, three years after we've become part of the Eclipse guard. A civil war. The Dark-clan was unhappy with Celestias last edict. I don't remember what exactly the problem was but we were forced to fight them back. But this just now. 'Was I really that happy, cleaving through my clan-brothers?' I was confused. This images just now, were seen by someone else. Who was that? And whoever he or she was, how was he or she able to project them into my mind? "Are you okay?" I shriek and jump hearing the quiet voice behind me, "Oh! I'm so sorry" Lovely Smile was behind me, her face showing worry, "I didn't mean to scare you, you just didn't answer my knocks and when I entered you were just standing there not doing anything." I gasp, trying to slower my racing heartbeat, "Yes, yes everything is fine. I was just lost in thoughts" I explain quickly, still gasping. "Really?" she asks, raising her brows, "you don't look so good" she states. "I'm fine" I nod trying to smile, which didn't look like a smile at all, "as I said, just lost in thoughts." "Okay. If you say so" she smiles, "I'm just here cause I wanted to ask what you want for dinner?" My eyes widen, I look up to the clock above the door. I stood there, at the exact same spot, not moving a muscle. For nine hours straight. And with that finding, comes something else. Pain. The pain of sore muscles. I whince, loud. Smiles smile turns into a frown, "what's wrong miss?" she asks worried again. I whince again, "argh! Ow! Nothing, just sore muscles" I hobble back to the bed, laying down on it with a sigh. My ears perk up, there is a strange sound. I look at Smile. She was laughing. She was lying on the ground laughing her flank off. "What's so funny!" I whince again, resulting in Smiles laugh getting louder. "I-I-I" she gaps, trying to stiffle the laugh, "I've, never seen a pony hobbling around like that due to sore muscles" she laughs again loud, covering her mouth with her fronthooves and flailing around. I blush. Looking at her, seeing her laugh and smile I notice something, something welling up in me. And so I laugh. At first it was a small giggle I tried to stiffle almost immediatly, not wanting to laugh at all. But it was in vain, after a few seconds I lay there, laughing together with Smile. It was great. To do that. Just laughing. After a few minutes we both had calmed down enough, Smile got back up, arranging her dress, she smiles at me. "You're funny miss" she suddenly states. I blush again, still giggling a little bit. "Stop calling me miss, just call me Siren" I say. Smiles nods, smiling again. "Okay, then" she pulls out a little book and a pen, suddenly back into work-mode, "what do you want for dinner?" she smiles at me. "I'm not hungry" I answer, "I've never eaten anything before bed, it doesn't work for me" Smile nods, putting the notebook and pen back into her pockets. Walking back to the door, opening it, she turns around. "Well then, miss" she winks, "good night then" she bows. "I wish you a good night too" I answer. The door closes behind her. I whince remembering my sore muscles. 'Note to myself' I think grimly, 'next flashbacks only in a lying position' I shake my head, confused by my own stupidity. I close my eyes, trying to ignore my sore muscles, thinking about the flashback. 'What happened back in that time?' I was curious, but I also know that there will be no answers to any of these questions, none at all. All ponies who could have tell me if I really was like that back then were dead. My eyes open. All besides one. Celestia. I jump back up, whincing as my muscles sting more, I streak myself with even more whinces. It was painful but it had to be done. Celestia wanted Garnjiel in her study and I would bring it to her. Walking slowly back to my door, opening it I see the guards. None of them looked very approving of me but didn't say or do anything. I walk through the hallways, finding my way through it till I was back to the place where we had brunch. Garnjiel was still there, together with the table. I walk closer to Garnjiel, grabbing it- Another flash. "No! No, wait!" the stallion cries, his voice getting cut off. Together with his head. I scoff, hauling Garnjiel back on my back, "weakling" I say to no one. "Was it really necessary to kill him?" Lunar asks carefully, not wanting to enrage me even more. "He was a traitor and he attacked the queen, of course it was necessary" I snap at him, making him shrugg. "Calm down" Anvil was behind me, folding his wing onto my back. It was like he opened a valve, all the hate, the rage, the wrath running out of me. I look at Anvil, my eyes returning to their normal green colour. My armour disappearing into particles of red light, flowing back into the rune on Garnjiel. My eyes widen, I turn to Lunar, "Oh, I'm sorry Lunar! I didn't mean to snap at you it's just-" he raises his hoof, cutting me off midesentence. "It's okay, really" he smiles, even though it doesn't seem to be his honest smile. "We all get caught up in the excitement of battle, you just a little bit more" 'A little bit more?' I ask myself, finally noticing the bloodstains on my cheeks. Another flash, I'm back in the garden. Shaking my head I look down on Garnjiel. With a sigh I haul the blade on my back, it's magic sheathing it. I turn around and walk back to the castle. I enter it. Something was off. It smelled strange. Snuffling a bit I notice the strange scent. It smelled like... Another flashback. The cries of the ponies as the dragonbreath rushes over them, I jump out of the way of the flame running straight at the dragon. Ice was over the dragon, out of his sight, he nods at me, I nod back. I jump forward, but the dragon was swiping one of his claws at me. I fly backwards through the air, I had managed to block the claws but the force behind the attack was still too much for me. Coughing and gasping I get back up looking at Ice as he flies underneath the dragons head, cutting through softer scales at his throat, making him bleed. Not enough to kill hm but he was hurt atleast. With a shriek the dragons turns at Ice, breathing another wave of burning death. I collapse. Back in the real world. Gasping and wheezing I lie on the floor, Garnjiel suddenly too heavy for me to move with it. I hear hoofsteps approaching. I look up. Celestias was in front of me, wearing a worried expression. "Siren?" she asks quietly. I try to get back up, but no use. I wasn't strong enough anymore. I look at Celestia, "memories" I whisper, "they hunt me." Her eyes widen. She nods and closes her eyes. "They have the bad manner to do that" she answers, also whispering. Garnjiels was getting heavy now, still lying on my back. "I... can't.... breath" I gasp. She was sitting in front of me, her eyes still closed. "Don't worry" she whispers, golden light escapes her horn. I lose consciousness. Darkness Emptyness Hollow. "Memories never kill" I hear the darkness whisper. They only poison your mind
