Living with Rainbow Dash

Wedding Bells

Spitfire awoke to the rising sun with a raging headache and a groan. Both due to an equally raging bachelor party the night before. Holding back her urge to vomit, she thought back to the night before, then immediately regretted it as her memories were filled with way too much alcohol and other events.

"Rainbow... Rainbow, wake up. We’re getting married today," Spitfire said, yawning and poking her Rainbow Dash in the side.

"Five more minutes," Rainbow moaned, rolling over and taking the covers with her.

Spitfire pushed Dash off the bed were she landed with an unceremonious 'thump', "Come on, we don't have time to sleep in."

"Eugh, fine, I'm up, I'm up! You didn't need to push me off the bed."

"'bout time. Now come on, we need to go see Rarity."

"Can't we eat first?"

"If we got up twenty minutes ago, yeah we could have."

"Pfft, twenty minutes ago....That’s so..... twenty minutes ago."

Spitfire only stopped to dwell for a moment on what little logic Rainbow had included in that statement, before returning, "Yeah, okay, just get up and get ready. Ok?" Begrudgingly, Rainbow Dash got up off the floor and stated to comb her mane with a brush that barely got any use. She turned around while brushing only to see a shocked Spitfire.

"What?" Rainbow asked, while developing a blush from already guessing what it was.

"You're brushing your mane?" Spitfire asked, mouth still agape.

"Well, yeah. I wanted to look nice for our wedding day..." Rainbow said sheepishly, an embarrassed look upon her face,

"That is one of the nicest things you've ever said to me!" Spitfire said, planting a kiss on Rainbow's cheek.

"That’s not good, is it? That that’s one of the nicest things I've said to you?" Dash asked, realizing how bad that sounded.

"Generally no, that’s not a good sign," Spitfire admitted, sighing. "Ah well. Let’s get going. We need to make it to Rarity's and then the church on time."

"But we still haven't eaten breakfast!" Rainbow whined.

"We just talked about this," reminded Spitfire, trying to end the conversation. But when faced with Rainbow Dash's puppy eyes, she finely gave in, "Fine, go grab something quick..."

"Did you pick up some more Captain Colt?" Rainbow interrupted.

"Yeah, it's on the top shelf" Spitfire responded, quickly adding, "But be quick. We don't have much time!"

"Yeah, yeah, just let me eat my cereal," Dash said, racing down the stairs. As Spitfire walked down the stairs five minutes later, she asked, "Rainbow? Are you ready to go yet?"

"Almost!" Rainbow Dash slurped down the rest of her cereal, then added hastily, "Ok, I'm ready. Let’s go!"

"Ok, just let me grab my saddlebags," Spitfire said. After making sure they were on tight, she opened the door. Rainbow walked out on to the porch and spread her wings. Hopping on her back, Spitfire confirmed, “Ok, let’s go!” Taking off from the porch, Rainbow rocketed towards the ground, only to pull up at the last minute and start towards the Carousel Boutique. “Could you not do that?” Spitfire asked, holding on even tighter.

“Pfft, killjoy” Rainbow said, suddenly bursting in speed.

~One quick flight later~

“Hey Spitfire.... Spitfire! You can let go now,” Rainbow said, having to resort to gently sliding Spitfire off her back.

“Rainbow, if you ever go that fast again while I’m on your back, I will never have sex with you again,” Spitfire said, shaking as she tried to make her way to the door.

Rainbow immediately stood up straight at that threat, apologizing with, “Sorry! Won’t happen again!”

“Yeah... Now come on. Help me get inside,” Spitfire requested, trying to walk up the steps while shaking. With a bit of help from Rainbow Dash, she got into the shop.

“Welcome to the Carousal Boutique! How may I he... Oh, it’s you two!” Rarity said, greeting each with a hug, “Spitfire darling, what’s wrong? You’re shaking like a jackrabbit”

“I just rode on Rainbow’s back all the way down here,” Spitfire explained, taking a moment to sit down and compose herself.

“Well no wonder. Here, let me get you some tea,” Rarity offered, making her way into the kitchen.

“No, no Rarity, it’s fine. Let’s just get our dresses on. The ceremony will be starting in less than two hours,” Spitfire said, standing up and shaking her head clear.

“Oh don’t worry about it, I’m a unicorn remember?” Rarity reminded, gesturing towards her horn, while grabbing a cup of tea as well as the two dresses.

“O-ok then. If you think you can do both, let’s just get Rainbow over here.” Spitfire turned around to see Dash playing with Opal, who was playing happily back.

“What? Now Rainbow dear, how did you get Opal to behave?” Rarity asked, wonder why in Equestria Opal wasn’t clawing Rainbow Dash’s face off.

“I dunno. I just came over to her and we started hitting each other,” Rainbow explained, receiving a slap from Opal.

“Charming,” Spitfire said, her deadpan expresion giving away her real emotions, “Now come over here. We need to get dressed.”

“Uh yes, about that. Rainbow, I’m going to need you to go into the other room while I dress Spitfire,” Rarity said, opening another door with her magic.

“Why, Rarity? It’s not like it’s the first time I’ve seen her naked. I mean, aside from that, we don’t normally where clothes. Just the other night we wer-”

“No! I mean, no darling. That’s not what I meant. They say it’s bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony,” Rarity explained, trying to regain her composure.

“Oh right! Well I’ll go get on my tux!” Rainbow said, trotting into the other room, the door closing behind her.

“She’s wearing a tux?” Spitfire asked the now working Rarity.

“Yes, she refused to wear a dress,” Rarity said, not taking her eyes off her work.

“Huh, well I should’ve known” Spitfire said, a smile playing across her face.

~One and a half hours later~
Rainbow Dash stood next to the altar, her eyes darting back and forth. Next to her at the altar was Twilight, quickly going over the ceremony checklist one more time. Behind her was Applejack, who was messing with her bow-tie, trying to get it to stay in one place. Nervously, Dash fluttered her wings, glancing around and trying to keep her mind off of what could go wrong. Before she could think of her next scenario however, the music started. The good old classic Here Comes The Bride. Looking back at Applejack, it seemed that she had resolved her problems with the bow-tie and now offered a supporting smile. “You’ll be fine” Applejack assured.

“Yeah, but what if I don’t remember my vows or I forget m-” Rainbow expressed her worry, only to be shushed once again.

“Would I lie to you if I thought you were going to forget anything?” Applejack smiled once again, pointing a hoof towards Spitfire, who was walking down the aisle. Rainbow was breathless as she looked at Spitfire. Walking down the aisle, she had a dress that covered her entire body. She look like a flame. The fabric rippling her around her body, her natural color as well as her hair, made her looks as though she were actually on fire. Stopping at the altar up front, she gave Rainbow a smile with a blush.

“Y-you look great,” Rainbow Dash stammered, her mouth still agape.

“Thanks. Not too bad yourself,” Spitfire complimented. Both of them turned their attention to the front however when Twilight cleared her throat, signaling that the wedding was about to start.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the bonding of these two ponies in holy matrimony,” Twilight spoke, pointing a hoof at Rainbow and one at Spitfire, then continued, “Before we start, does anypony have any reason why these two should not be married?” When nopony raised their hoof Twilight continued, “The couple will now read their vow’s” Spitfire was the first to step forward, her vow’s memorized in her head.

“Rainbow Dash, from the first time I laid eyes on you, I felt a connection. I gave up my dream to be with you, and almost my life because I thought I couldn’t make you happy. And I would do it all again just to see you happy and to be with you myself. Even though sometimes you’re childish, annoying or just plain rude, I wouldn’t have you any other way and I love you with all my heart,” Spitfire spoke her vows with confidence, ending with a round of applause and a loving look from Rainbow. Stepping back she allowed Rainbow to step forward and say vows of her own,

“Spitfire, ever since you first came to Ponyville, I feel as though I loved you without even knowing. When you bought me ice cream, or helped me through the grieving of my parents at a time when nopony else could. You’ve always been by my side through thick and thin, and I wouldn’t have you anywhere else,” Rainbow ended, with another round of applause from the audience.
Twilight then started speaking again,
“Now that the couples have said their vows, we shall start the ceremony. Spitfire, do you take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife, through sickness and in health, through rich and poor?” Twilight asked.

“I do,” Spitfire said, her expression firm and steady, but her voice almost cracking.

“And do you, Rainbow Dash, take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife, through good and through bad, through life and death?” Twilight asked once more.

“I do.” Rainbows face was also firm and steady.

“With the power invested in me, I hereby pronounce you wife and wife,” Twilight spoke over the cheers, finishing with, “You may now kiss the bride”. And with that, Rainbow Dash leapt forward and pulled Spitfire into a deep and passionate kiss, which only drew more cheers out of the audience.

After pulling back from the kiss, Rainbow Dash looked into Spitfires eyes once more, and said, “I’m really glad you’re mine, Spitfire. I don’t think I could stand you being with anypony else.”

“I’m glad too, Dash. I don’t think I could stand being with anypony else,” Spitfire agreed, once more locking Rainbow in a kiss.

~At the after party~
Spitfire and Rainbow Dash hung around a table at the reception, receiving multiple congratulations. Cake had been served, courtesy of Pinkie Pie, and speeches had been given. After multiple ponies had come up to the two to congratulate them, Twilight came up with three colts following close behind.

“Well who would these three be, Twilight?” Rainbow asked, scanning them for anything she remembered. Twilight gestured to Rainbow, and the first colt stepped forward.

“I’m Skylight, and this is my husband Skyhigh. I’m the Paramedic that took Spitfire to the hospital, I just wanted to stay there because...Well, I knows what it’s like to lose a-” At this time tears started leaking from his eyes and Skyhigh put a comforting wing around him, “I know what it’s like to lose a loved one, and I didn’t want that to happen to you either.”

“Well it’s nice to meet you Skylight, and who would this colt be?” Spitfire questioned, her head turning towards the pure black colt,

“Ah, Nice to meet you, Names Arcane. Magical inventor extraordinaire. An earth pony and a pegasus, I didn’t know you could do things like that” Arcane said, looking at them curiously.

“Well actually I’m a pegasus,” Spitfire corrected him, receiving some ‘Orly Now’ looks in return, before explaining, “I lost my wings in an accident.”

“Ah, sorry to hear about that. I can’t imag- Wait! Did you say you used to be a pegasus?” Arcane said, looking extremely excited.

“Um, yes I did?” Spitfire said, wondering what he had in plan for her.

“Oh wonderful! Now listen hear, I’ve developed a set of artificial wings! They're called the D.A.R.T. wing. It stands for Dyn- You know what, never mind what it stands for. They tap into the nervous system and allow you to control them and fly just like normal wings!” Arcane was just getting more and more excited.

“Ok, and have you ever done this surgery before? Have you tested these wings?” Spitfire asked, not so sure about these ‘wings’.

“What? No its extremely dangerous! You could die if it isn’t done right. Well that and I haven’t found anypony stupi- I mean brave enough to try it!” Arcane corrected himself.

“Sorry, I’m gunna have to pass. I just don’t know if I should risk my life to get wings, when I can function fine without them” Spitfire said, apologizing once more.

“Come on” Skylight said, to a moping Arcane. “I’ll buy you a drink. Congratulations again you guys!” He quickly added at the end, leading Arcane to the bar. However, now that those three had left along with Twilight, a much more suspicious looking colt was making his way towards them. When offered a glass of champagne, he lifted it with his magic, took a sip and them spit it into the glass. Setting the glass down, he started to make his way over to Spitfire and Rainbow Dash.

“Are you guys the ones just married?” He asked them.

“Yeah, why?” Rainbow asked, a little on the defensive side.

“Inkstain’s the name and, Certified Canterlot Chroniclers the game. I’d like to hear the story of how you met, what with an Element of Harmony getting married and the such.” Inkstain took a notepad out of his saddle bag and sat down in front of them.

“Well,” started Spitfire, “It all started when...” She then began the long process of telling him their story.
