Chapter 3: Sorrow
"Hold my hoof." Death said.
"Why?" Derpy asked.
"This is just the beginning remember. I have more to show you. Once I am done showing you what you mean. You will realize your mistakes. In order for us to move on you have to grab my hoof and close your eyes." Death replied.
Derpy grabbed Death's hoof and closed her eyes. Once Death let go of her hoof Derpy opened her eyes. She was in her house. Derpy looked at the couch and saw Dinky staring into the window with a note next to her. Derpy looked at Death.
"Can I read the note?" Derpy asked.
"You will get a copy but the original stays with her." Death replied.
Death's horn lit up and a second note appeared next to the original. Derpy grabbed it and began to read it.
Dear Mommy
How have you been doing mommy? I've been doing good since you've passed away. Rainbow Dash, however, took it pretty hard. Even though it's been eight months since you've passed away I hear her cry at night. I cry myself to sleep, sometimes. Even though you left real soon I still love you with all my heart and nopony in the world has made me as happy like you did.
The muffins don't bring as much joy as they did when you were around. We've completely stopped the muffin fights. Rainbow has started drinking but she never gets drunk. I mean never. She hasn't left the house much and I try my hardest to cheer her up but sometimes I feel like as if it's not enough.
I hope to see you again one day. Hopefully in this life. Even though I know it will never happened. Maybe in the next life you won't go away so soon like you did in this one. I still wonder what made you leave. Sometimes I feel like as if I was the one who made you go leave. I hope to see you real soon if I have enough strength in myself to do what you did. If I do I hope I get to see your smile again.

Derpy dropped the letter and started to wipe tears from her eyes. Death walked up to Derpy and put out his hoof. Derpy looked at his hoof and looked up at him. She put her hoof on his hoof and she closed her eyes. Once Death said open your eyes. Derpy didn't want to see what would happen next. Once she opened her eyes there was a tombstone in front of her. It said "R.I.P. Dinky Hooves" Derpy began to fall to her knees and cry. Death walked up right next to her and put his hoof on her shoulder.
"Young pegasus, turn around. Her life has loved ones as well." Death said.
Derpy turned around and saw Rainbow on her knees crying in front of Dinky's grave. Derpy looked back at the grave and saw Bells planting a flower right next to it. Derpy put her head to the ground.
"Why did she do it Death? Why?" Derpy asked.
"So she could be with you. You left too soon and Dinky couldn't go on without her mother." Death replied.
"What about Rainbow? She's her mom as well." Derpy asked.
"What strength do you think this pegasus had left in her when her love life has been destroyed?" Death replied.
"I can't do this anymore. Please take me back." Derpy said.
"I'm afraid your lesson isn't over. I can't take you back until we are done." Death said.
"Why not?" Derpy asked.
"Because if I do. You will really die and everything that's happening now will really happen." Death replied.
"How much longer is it than?" Derpy asked.
"I cannot tell." Death replied.
Derpy looked up at Death and Death put his head down in shame and put his hoof out. Derpy put her hoof on his and closed her eyes. Death pulled back his hoof and Derpy opened her eyes.
"Home?" Derpy said in confusion.
"Go in and search the house." Death said.
Derpy got up and opened her door. There was no sound from the door because she was just a mind running wherever it wanted to go. Derpy looked on the couch and nopony was on it. She headed upstairs and saw Rainbow Dash lying on the bed. Derpy walked up to Rainbow and noticed something in her hoof. Derpy lifted Rainbow's hoof and saw a bottle of painkillers in her hoof. Derpy gasped and looked back at Rainbow.
"No. Not you too." Derpy cried. Derpy got on her knees and put her wing around Rainbow. Death walked up behind her and put his hoof on her shoulder. Derpy looked at Death.
"Young pegasus, do you realize what will happen if you continue with your actions?" Death asked.
"Yes. Everyone I care for will make the same mistake I've made." Derpy replied.
"Hold my hoof one last time and we will be back where you started." Death said.
Death put out his hoof and Derpy grabbed it and closed her eyes. Death pulled away his hoof and Derpy opened her eyes. Once she opened her eyes she saw Life.
"Who are you?" Derpy asked.
"My name is Life. You have met my brother Death. He has shown you what will happen if you continue with your actions and I am going to bring you back to the real world." Life said.
"Why did you two do this for me?" Derpy asked.
"I could not stand anymore suffering in this world. It needs more happiness and that is my reason for doing so." Life replied.
"Would I have ended the Hooves' generation if I committed suicide?" Derpy asked.
"Unfortunately, yes you would have ended your generation if you do this." Life replied.
"I have learned my lesson can I go home now?" Derpy asked.
"You may. But know that when you go back. You will experience pain from the crates that have fallen on top of you." Life replied.
"I understand." Derpy said.
"Close your eyes and you will be home." Life said.
Derpy closed her eyes and started to feel agony of pain. She cried out for help and Space moved the crates that have tumbled on top of her.
