//------------------------------// // Story // Story: Dasher and Tank // by Grenazers //------------------------------// "Alright Dasher, go long!" Shouted a blue skin, rainbow haired human as she held a small red ball. Far across her is a little blue coat filly, with rainbow hair and stubby little wings. The little filly was hopping in anticipation for her owner to throw the ball. Rainbow Dash then threw the red ball over the little filly and she gave chase. As the ball descends, with fast reflexes Dasher was able to catch the ball in mid fall. Once caught the blue pony gallop back to her owner with the ball in her mouth. Rainbow bend down with one knee and picked the ball out of Dasher's mouth. "Ah who's a good little filly" she said, "Who's a good little filly?" she said again, but this time cooing. "You are, yes, you are" Dash began petting Dasher's head. The little filly just smiled from her owner's affection. In Rainbow's mind, she couldn't help but see how she and Dasher have bonded so closely together. She still remember getting her as if it was yesterday. Just a month ago on her birthday, her friend Fluttershy got her the little filly as a pet. At first she was a bit discourage of owning and caring for a pet, but soon grew fond of her and play around for hours. However there are times when she had to leave the house, she usually leave to go to school or hang with her friends. However, being the captain of all the sports team, means she has a lot of duties and responsibilities. Therefore, leaving poor Dasher all alone. Not wanting to leave poor Dasher alone, Rainbow thought about ways to help keep the little filly company. She can't ask neighbors and her dad is at work all day. Then something came up in her head and she rushed of to Fluttershy's house. Meanwhile at Dash's house, the little blue filly was just laying on a red carpet. Dasher was doing what she does everyday, waiting for Rainbow Dash to returned. Every morning Rainbow's dad would wake up and make breakfast, while telling his daughter to get up. Once awoken Rainbow would wake up Dasher and play with her for a bit until breakfast is finish. After having their meal both Rainbow and her dad have to leave. Every time they leave, Dasher just wait patiently for her owner to return, so that they can play. Unfortunately, things have changed around here. The dad just got a promotion and is working late and Rainbow have many projects, assignments, and studying to do for school. Due to this, her owner would arrive later in evening. Then suddenly she heard the unlocking of the door. This was a surprised for the pony, since rarely did her owner returned home early. However, she didn't question it and just galloped to the front door. Meeting her there is Rainbow Dash, with both her hands behind her back. The small pony rushed up to her and rubbed her side against her leg. "Hey Dasher, ya miss me" she said as she close the door behind her with her leg. "Hey Dasher, guess what? I got surprised for you!" A surprise? thought the little pegasus, she wonders what it could be? Rainbow Dash than show behind her back a pet carrier. She set the carrier on floor next to her, Dasher trotted closer to inspect it. "Dasher. I know that you feel alone with me and my dad out of the house," the blue human explained. Then a smile appeared on her face, "So that's why I decided to get you someone to keep you company!." Rainbow kneel on one knee and opened the carrier, "Alright Tank, come out now," she call the pet inside. Then from the shadow emerged a green tortoise, slowly walking out. Upon getting up Dasher could see that Tank stood a couple of inches higher then her. "Now Dasher, this is Tank," she said gaining pony's attention. "He's going start living here and will keep you company." With introduction done Rainbow decides to leave these two together, while she goes to the kitchen and prepare for dinner. After her owner left, Dasher finds herself alone with the green tortoise. She went up and inspect his features. Upon closer inspection she could see that the tortoise was quite old, as he had a wrinkles around his face and neck. Then, suddenly the tortoise nuzzle the little filly with his head. The pony reacted quickly and backed off, she didn't want this stranger to touch her. "Hey guys your foods here!" Rainbow shouted from the kitchen. The pony glares at the tortoise for a second , then proceeds t head to the kitchen. Tank followed after her, but in a slow steady pace. The rest of the evening went normally, with them eating their dinner, watch TV, and going to bed. In between the father arrived home and noticed the new addition to the family. After an argument over her daughter bringing a new pet home, she was able to convince him to let Tank stay. The next day, morning was the same but, with Tank. After breakfast and saying goodbyes, Dasher was now alone in the house again, but this time with Tank. Deciding to at least try, Dasher poked the tortoise with her hoof and pointed to backdoor leading to the backyard. This was a clear sign of her wanting him to go with her to the backyard. Understand her, Tank began walking towards the backdoor. Dasher, just sat there and watched the tortoise slowly walking to the door. Wanting to hurry things up, Dasher tried moving the tortoise faster. She tried pushing him from behind, then pulling him from the front. One of her early attempts was ram into him from the back, this resulted in getting a small bump on her head. Tired of this, Dasher simply just went ahead of him. She go through the doggie door and just waited for her slow companion to get here. After a couple of agonizing minutes, Tank finally left the house and into the backyard. Once outside, Dasher began trying out games for her and Tank to play. They tried racing, but by the time Tank takes his first step, the little filly already galloped to other side of the yard and back. Next they tried catch, Dasher picked up her red ball and threw it over the tortoise. Tank saw the ball flew over him and began slowly walking to the ball. Dasher watched the slow-moving tortoise taking his sweet time trying to get the ball. The blue pony groaned and trotted towards the ball. She picked it just as Tank was just one step away from it. Dasher then gave the ball to Tank, the tortoise knowing what the little filly wants. He picked the ball from Dasher, then turning his head to the side, he swung around and threw ball. Sadly the ball went a few centimeters ahead of them. Frustrated, Dasher just kicked the red ball which bounced off the fence and flew to the other side of the yard. The blue filly then left the area, leaving her companion behind. Still thinking they were playing, Tank slowly walked to where the ball went and retrieve it. Once she was far away from him, the little filly dropped on the soft grassy ground and just grumbled. In her head, Tank was no fun at all! He's slow, he's quiet, and he's boring. How could her owner expect her play with this loser of a pet. Then when the little pony lifted her head, she saw a hole in the fence. She never noticed this before, probably because she too distracted playing with owner. Deciding to become a little adventurous, the filly went up to the hole and squeeze through it. One she squeeze the rest of herself out, she face with an astounding view. The little filly saw large fields of grass expanding far as the eyes can see. There were tall tree she could see in the distant, and tall buildings on the sides. Dasher press forward until she came across a wide long black road. Eying the strange thing on the road, Dasher didn't see the streetlights across her shining red. The blue filly was now walking on the middle of road. She too distracted investigating the road, she failed to see a speeding car heading towards her. When she lift her head she immediately saw the speeding metal vehicle driving towards her. Acting on instinct Dasher quickly dashed to the side, barely missing the car. Dasher, suddenly felt fear in herself and decide not to stay and ran off. After her meeting with the speeding vehicle, Dasher saw an orange human walking his dog. Believing the large dog was friendly, the filly trotted towards the dog. However, when the canine spotted the little pony, it started to bark. The bark was loud and threatening, which scared the little filly, Fearing for her life, Dasher gallop as far as her little legs can go, fearing that the dog was right behind her. But, the dog wasn't, as soon as the dog started barking and trying to rushed the pony. His owner pulled the leash on him, preventing him from chasing her. "Whoa!" said the orange human "down boy! down!" Dasher kept on running, she didn't know the dog wasn't chasing her, but she didn't want to take chances. After a couple of minutes of running the little filly stopped and rest. The little filly decided she seen enough and started heading towards home. But then she halted, she took a look around her surroundings. The first thing she noticed was that she is in an unfamiliar place. Dasher, started panicking, she try to remember which direction she came from. However, not matter how hard she tries she can't remember it. The little filly's legs started to wobble, then she collapse on the ground and started crying. She was lost, she though inside her head. Utterly lost. Dasher, then curled up into circle as she continued weeping. She will be lost forever, she'll never see her home and her owner again. After minutes of crying, the little filly felt something rub against her head. Lifting her head and opening her eyes tear soaked eyes. The blue pony saw Tank nuzzling her. Surprised, Dasher stopped her crying and looked at her savior. Then, suddenly Dash saw Tank lowering his head under her and lifted her up. He brought the small filly on top his shell. Dasher crawled around on his shell to make herself comfortable. The green tortoise then started walking in one direction, with the blue filly on his back. The two animal companion traveled for a while, passing by other humans looking at the strange pair. By the time the two got back home the sun was already setting. Dasher quickly got off the tortoise's back and squeezed through the hole. Tank took his turn to squeeze through the door and found the blue filly waiting for him. Surprised by this action Tank pulled himself through the hole and went up to the pony. Dasher made a gesture with her head, directing him to follow her. The green tortoise followed the blue pony to the wooden shed. Dasher went inside the shed and brought out a soccer ball. She brought the ball to the center, Tank following close behind her. Dasher then stopped and turned around, facing the tortoise. She then pushed the soccer ball to her green companion. Tank caught the ball and pushed it back to her. She then caught it and pushed it back. The two continued this little game for a while. Sometimes Tank changed it up and pushed the ball to the side, which the pony easily catch and push it back to the tortoise. Despite how mundane it looks, the two pets are really having a fun time. Dasher was enjoying the game the two were playing, and Tank was just enjoying the time he is spending with his new friend. Rainbow Dash was tire, she just got off organizing a sports event with her club mates. She has no problem with them, but they're hopeless without her. Luckily for her, her friends were their to help her out in the planning and organizing. Thanks to them Rainbow will be able to go home early. She just reached the door to her house, taking the keys out of her pocket and unlock the door. "Dasher! Tank! I'm home!" she announced. When she got no reply, she began searching for them. As soon as she got to the living room, she saw a very heartwarming scene. Dasher was sleeping peacefully on her bed, but this time Tank was with her. The two were sleeping next to each other, with the small filly cuddling next to the large green tortoise. Rainbow Dash couldn't help but feel giddy at seeing her two pets getting along. At first when Fluttershy suggested a tortoise to keep Dasher company, she was a bit skeptical, However, her yellow friend reassured her that Tank will make a great friend for Dasher. She reminded herself to thank Fluttershy tomorrow, but for now it was time for her to make dinner. So Rainbow left the living room to make dinner, leaving the two sleeping pets to continue sleeping peacefully.
