My Little Player 2: Mushrooms are Magic, too!

by Ponykiin

World 0: The game begins!

Most of us know the story of Mario, The man of wonder who saved the princess countless times, over and over, as we barely notice his little brother. Most of us just refer to him as 'The man in green', because most of us just forget his name.

However, this will be his chance to finally shine.

Don't know what I mean? Then perhaps I'll take you on a small trip of how he will finally become the star of the show...

It all started on a normal summer afternoon. Mario had gone to save the princess, and all that was left to do for Luigi was tend to the chores. As a matter of fact, all he had to do was go out and grab the mail! It had come a few hours early, but that just meant that Luigi could have more free time to himself. After he had made himself a delicious mushroom sandwich, he went outside to check on the mail. Jumping down the steps, he semi-rushed to get to there. It was a bit chilly out, and Luigi wanted to get back inside, just in case it got colder. He was about to open the mailbox when he had seen a strange light emanating from the deepest reaches of the forest that surrounded the Mario household.

Out of pure curiosity of what was held in the deepest reaches of the forest, he began walking towards the light, wherever it may have been coming from. One place would be lighter than another place, and Luigi would follow the brightest path until he found the source of it.

And he did find the source of it.

In the middle of an opening, surrounded by broken branches and upturned earth, was a swirling mass of a dark blue color. Luigi, inspecting the strange phenomenon from behind a tree, curiously walked over, and put his hand up to what can only be assumed to be a portal. The strangest thing about the portal was that it felt like water, which couldn't possibly float like that in any kind of situation! Portal or not, that's not normal.

Luigi tipped his hat, and gulped, as he slowly placed his face through it, making the biggest mistake he could have ever made.

He was suddenly grabbed by some unknown force, that then dragged Luigi into the portal. He screamed and kicked, only to feel nothing but the liquid of the interior of the portal. The longer Luigi stayed in the portal, the more he felt as if he was drowning. He quickly looked around for an escape. There had to be something somewhere. A rip in the fabric of this portal, or perhaps even a door would work at this moment! He found a very similar looking portal, which was a pitch black compared to the dark blue of the portal itself. He didn't have time for questions though, as he lunged himself in the direction of the portal, hoping for the best, as the supposed exit grabbed Luigi, and pulled him out into a night sky, where he could see nothing but one singular star, which then turned into many other stars, and quickly into millions. Luigi had almost forgotten the fact that he was now falling. He quickly looked down, and screamed for help, holding onto his hat as he kept falling, and falling, and falling.

He blacked out before hitting the ground, due to a panic attack. There, he slept, feeling an ominous presence looming over him.

This feeling had soon left Luigi, as his mind began to wander into a strange world. A dreamy world, that can only be described as blank.

It was nothing at the moment, nothing but a blank canvas full of nothing. There was so much nothing that nothing could make something out of this nothing, but that's beside the point.

In the middle of this world, stood Luigi, tired and weak. He looked around, confused of where he was. Clueless as to what had happened, and what was happening. Shortly after questioning if he was alive or dead, a voice spoke to him softly.

"Greetings, thing in green..." It said. This startled Luigi, causing him to fall back on his behind, and scoot backwards, hopefully away from the voice. He quickly bumped into something soon after, and jumped up to face his possible foe. He looked up the large pony that loomed over him. "Now now..." It said, its voice calm and firm. "No need to be afraid..."

Luigi gulped, as he slowly backed up to get a full picture of the pony.

It was a crossbreed between a Unicorn and a Pegasus, that had a dark blue coat, with a blue mane that almost perfectly mimicked the night sky. Its mane had been blowing in some kind of invisible wind, either that or Luigi couldn't feel the current at all. It was just a magical sight that would bring a tear to someones eye.

Luigi shook his head, as he made sure he wasn't just seeing things. The pony smiled a kind smile, as it spoke again.

"I know you are confused, little one, but there is no reason for such fear." It said, as it lowered its head down to Luigis. "Now, I have something that I must request of you..."

Luigi blinked. "W-wha?" He said, scratching his head in confusion.

"Ah! So you do speak!" The pony said, rearing its head up with a face of joy. "But that is irrelevant to the case at hand..." It continued on, with a sullen look. "You see, I need your help. My sister has refused the use of dimension jumping, but I have no choice. You're our only hope..."

The pony took a deep breath, and continued on. "There is a great many threats coming to Equestria, my world, for the next ninety moons. These threats will grow stronger and stronger, and without any help, we will be crushed under our enemies. For this reason alone, I must ask you to please help us...". The pony looked at Luigi with a look of hope.

Luigi needed to think this through... He had been forcefully ripped from his own dimension to become a hero of a new dimension. What would his brother say in a situation like this? He would probably say no. He already had too much on his plate in his own dimension. How would he survive saving two? But...Luigi didn't have anything to do in that world. He was a nobody. Just a guy that stood around Mario for the majority of his free time. Probably a big fan that liked the color green a lot. Luigi looked up to the pony.

"I'm sorry to interrupt any thought you may be having, but I don't have a lot of time left. Should we stay here any longer, and my sister would be sure to find out..." She said, worriedly.

Luigi put a thoughtful hand to his chin. This was his chance to finally become a hero! A tale that no other would be able to tell at home! He will finally be just as good as his brother Mario! He looked up at the pony with determination, and nodded in agreement, making a promise that this world will not be harmed on Luigi's watch!

The pony smiled a great smile at this. "Excellent! I hope this is no inconvenience to you..." She said, as her horn began to glow a purplish aura. Soon, Luigi's vision began to fade, and he heard these final words, before he woke up.

"Our world, is in your hooves now..."
