//------------------------------// // Chapter 6: Worse Than Heartbreak // Story: A College Life- Trivium's Story Part II // by Trivium //------------------------------// Chapter 6: Worse Than Heartbreak I slowly woke to hear the dorm door opening. I forced myself to lift my head and look, only to see a tired-looking Serenity closing the door behind her. "Hey Triv..." She said quietly, slipping into bed next to me. "Rainbow Dash's still unconscious... but... She's going to be fine." I sighed, having nothing to say. My mind kept repeating harshly at me It's your fault. You're the reason she's injured. You're the reason she hates you. You're the one that had to go and make out with your neighbor. I found myself snuggled against Serenity suddenly. She was hugging me, patting my back while I hugged her around her chest. I felt tears running down my face. "She's going to be fine, I promise..." Serenity said. *** I slowly woke the next morning. "Triv..." Serenity was saying softly. "Wake up... Come on..." I inhaled sharply, opening my eyes. I rolled onto my back, letting out a deep breath. Serenity wordlessly got up out of bed, as did I. We walked together to my dorm. I opened the door, walking in. Rainbow Dash lay on her back, still managing to look amazingly graceful. She had an icepack over one of her eyes, a bandage on her forehead, and gauze wrapped around one of her arms. She was breathing normally, and looked like she was sleeping. She was still stunningly beautiful as well. "Rainbow Dash..." I muttered, looking at her sadly. "I'm so sorry..." I knew she wasn't conscious or coherent, but I couldn't help myself. It's your fault. I tried to push the thought out of my head, but it was my fault. All because of me, Rainbow Dash was beaten up on the street late at night, and is now in some form of "medical care". Serenity stood next to me, in silence. I was extremely thankful for her. Taking care of Rainbow Dash at times, saving her life possibly, and comforting me so much. If she's that great, go have sex with her again. I winced, practically having a mental war with myself. We've never had sex. Yes you have. No, we haven't. Not yet. "Trivium, you okay?" Serenity said, piercing my thoughts like a bullet. "I'm..." I paused. Fucking crazy. "I'm fine, just... It's hard to see her like this..." "I understand," Serenity said. "She always seemed so... Invincible..." "How'd you know how she seemed?" I asked. No WAY she knew Rainbow Dash before this. "Uh..." Serenity looked at me strangely. "She's a celebrity... And... So are you... Remember?" "A what? Oh... Right... Great, amazing flyer, and stuff..." My voice trailed off. "And you're dating her, so..." Serenity didn't need to finish the sentence. "I'm going to make coffee." She said, turning to my coffee blender. "Want some?" "Yes please..." I said, keeping my eyes on Rainbow Dash. You're dangerous. *** I sat next to my bed, with a mug of coffee that I wasn't particularly wanting anymore. I forced myself to take a sip, trying to seem casual. After some time, Serenity stood up. "I've gotta get some stuff done back at my dorm, ya know. Classes and stuff." She said. She quickly have me a hug. "Try to keep your head clear, Triv. I'll be back. I promise." "Don't worry, I'll be fine." I said. Serenity looked at me for a few seconds, than left. Once the door closed behind her, I knew it was just me and my evil thoughts. She doesn't love you. It's your fault. I pressed my head into my hooves, feeling tears oncoming. I grabbed a spare pillow, pressing my face into it instead. Try suicide again. *** I sat next to m bed, staring blankly at a wall. My eyes burned, my head throbbed. I let my thoughts beat me up. Suddenly, I heard Rainbow Dash draw a deep breath. She stirred slightly. "Rainbow... Dash...?" I asked, leaning close to her. "...Triv...?" Her voice was weak. She slowly opened her eyes. They were clearly not focused, and her eyes swam randomly. "Keep still..." I put my hoof on her shoulder. "Where.... Am I...?" "We're back at my dorm..." My voice cracked. "I'm... I'm so sorry, Rainbow Dash..." She smiled warmly somehow. "I... Love you..." She said. "I... I love you too." My heart raced. "I'm so sorry... This is all my fault..." "No... It's not... I should have... Listened... I'm sorry, Trivium." She closed her eyes again. "I'm sorry I over-reacted...." I blinked back tears. "I should have had more self-control...." I said. I noticed Rainbow Dash scooting towards the wall. "C'mere..." She said, making room for me on the bed. I slipped under the blankets. I scooted close, resting my head on her shoulder. I let my eyes drift shut, relaxing, feeling safe. *** I slowly woke to hear two voices talking. "Thank you... You... Saved my life..." Rainbow Dash's voice was stronger now. "Don't thank me, it was all because of Trivium." Serenity replied. "He was the one that asked me to help look for you." Rainbow Dash went silent for a bit. "So..." She chuckled. "How was it?" "What?" "How was Trivium, good kisser?" She laughed softly. "Oh." Serenity chuckled herself. "He was okay..." "He hasn't changed much then has he..." Rainbow Dash said, patting me on the shoulder. Okay?! You're not even a good kisser! "So I guess all is forgiven?" Serenity asked, sounding awkward. "Well..." Rainbow Dash sighed. "Not entirely... Trivium just... He needs me right now, it's hard for him to see me like this... Could you imagine him having to think I was mad at him on top of this?" "I'm sorry." Serenity paused. "I should have known better then to let him kiss me." "It's not your fault, I've long forgiven you." I slowly opened my eyes, yawning. "Hey, Triv." Rainbow Dash said, shaking me lightly. I stretched, snuggling closer against Rainbow Dash. "Hey guys..." I said drowsily. I pretended to not have heard the conversation they just had. "Feeling better?" I asked. "Yeah, much better." Rainbow Dash said. "Thanks to Serenity, here." "Thank you, so much." I said to Serenity. I couldn't thank her enough for all she'd done.
