//------------------------------// // Chapter 2: Welcome Home // Story: My Little Pony: Fairy Tail // by Bazing //------------------------------// Ponyville was bustling with the news about this new creature that could harness base elements through magic. To their knowledge, only the Princesses could harness such power. What was even more astounding was that his magic was associated with dragon fire. No known form of magic had ever been able to do what this creature had done, and that made him a mixed bag of awesome and dangerous. Among the inhabitants of Ponyville, some considered him a potential threat that should be handled by Celestia herself. Others argued that; were he dangerous, he would not have saved the town. While Ponyville contemplated what to do with this newcomer and his flying blue cat, Twilight and her immediate friends had taken Natsu into the Library to talk in private. "So... Natsu, tell us a bit about yourself; where are you from and what exactly are you in terms of race?" Twilight began, her quill and paper at the ready to note down anything interesting. Natsu on the other hand, began to scratch his head. "Not much to tell, really. I'm not exactly sure where I was born. As for what I am... I don't know how I can describe my kind. All I can really say is that I'm human." he said. Twilight jotted the word down before continuing. "I meant where did you come from before you came here." she clarified. "Twi, not that Ah don't appreciate your need to learn, but... shouldn't we be askin' some more important questions?" Applejack interrupted. Twilight frowned at her friend, but sighed in defeat afterward. "Right... Natsu, do you intend to harm Equestria?" he asked. The human blinked and looked to Happy. "Why would I do that? I don't even know what Equestria is." he replied. "It's the name of this country. The capital of Equestria is called Canterlot. We plan to escort you there when we're done here. Our Princesses will want to meet you." Twilight placed her notepad and quill away with an expression of sadness. "Huh, the only Royalty that I've met was the King of Fiore. He was a cool guy. I also met his daughter, the Princess. She was nice." "So Fiore is the country you come from? Fascinating. But your answer on whether or not you'll harm us is irrelevant. Words can be used to lie, and whether you say you mean no harm or otherwise, the Princesses will know the truth after meeting you." Twilight declared. Natsu became weary. His instincts were sending out warning signals. "Hold on, now. They'd better not be planning on doing anything weird with my mind." he said. "Aye!" Happy added. "Relax, Natsu. The princesses just have a way of telling whether or not you're lying. They won't be playing with your mind." Twilight assured him. Natsu took a more relaxed position in his chair and began to look around the room. He saw a huge collection of books. It was obvious to him that this was a library. How they could read was another matter. "You mentioned before that you'd met guild masters. Are you a part of a guild of some sort?" Twilight asked. Natsu grinned from cheek to cheek. The action unnerved some of them. "Yep! I told you I'm a Fairy Tail Wizard. Fairy Tail is the name of the guild which I belong to." he replied, while simultaneously point to the guild mark on his right shoulder. Twilight quickly took out her pad and quill again and jotted something down. "And what kind of guild is it?" she asked. Happy floated up to Twilight and chuckled. "What other kind is there? It's a magic guild, of course. Wizards come from all over the world to join a guild. Fairy Tail is just one of many." he said, floating around each pony as he explained to them the basics of a guild. "Just recently, our guild won the Grand Magic Games. The magic tournament used to decided the strongest guild in the world. And thanks to our bonds as a family, we pulled through from last place to finish first." Natsu added in, emphasizing the point that his guild is more than just a band of mages. Twilight nodded in approval. "So your guild is the strongest in, Fiore was it?" After Natsu nodded in confirmation, she continued. "Right, so you're apart of the strongest guild, which treats it's members like family. But what exactly do guilds do?" Twilight asked quizzically "Well guilds take on requests from the Request Board. Different missions vary in difficulty, and the size of the reward." Happy explained. "Normal missions are fairly easy and can be completed by any mage. But there are some requests that can only be completed by higher ranking wizards known as S-Class Wizards. As I said before, they are the higher ranking wizards, and are usually extremely powerful." After Happy finished, Twilight got a look from Applejack. The kind of look that says 'more important things need to be asked' Twilight just sighed at the missed opportunity to learn more things about another world. "So if it's possible, could you tell us about the type of magic you posses Natsu?" Natsu just tilted his head to the side a little while giving it a small scratch. Although the action was lost on the Ponies in front of him. "Hmm... I'm not really sure about much of the magic I know. But what I do know was taught to me by Igneel, my father." Twilight's face dropped a little in disappointment. "So who is this Igneel exactly?" Natsu's face beamed. "Igneel is my father. He found and raised me when I was really young. He was the one who taught me the Fire Dragon Slayer magic." Twilight looked at Natsu in confusion, "Found? Then who is your real parents?" Natsu shook his head, "No idea. But after Igneel disappeared I've been looking everywhere for him." Twilight still looked confused, "But wouldn't it be hard to find him? He could be anywhere!" She practically shouted. Natsu just laughed, "It would be hard to miss a dragon." Still in disbelief about the fact that Natsu was raised by a dragon, all the ponies present just started at him. "Right... Well enough questions for now. We should head over to Canterlot as soon as possible. Try to get this situation sorted out." All ponies present nodded in agreement, while Natsu and Happy just looked at each other briefly, then shared a nod as well. "Spike! Get down here!" Twilight shouted. Soon after, a small reptilian creature walked down the stairs and into view. "What now?" He asked dejectedly. "We need to send a letter to the Princess. Hopefully, she can send a carriage down to escort us to Canterlot." Spike nodded in response. Soon after, he took in-claw a note that Twilight had just finished reading, then he lit it on fire. The resulting ash flew out the window. "Wow! That was cool!" Natsu shouted happily. Happy just looked at him. After waiting a few minutes, a carriage pulled up outside the library. Natsu was extremely reluctant to enter the transportation, much to the confusion of all the ponies - plus Spike - present. They soon found out why. Not two seconds after it took off, Natsu was already leaning over the side. Happy continued to look normal, while the ponies looked at Natsu with worried expressions. "Is he going to be alright?" Fluttershy asked, worryingly. Happy just waved it off, "He's fine. For some reason, all Dragon Slayers get motion sickness." "Help... me" Natsu barely cried out. Fluttershy continued to look worried, "Do you think we should stop?" She asked Happy "Yes! Let me... off-bleeegh!" Before he could finish his sentence, Natsu vomited over the edge. "No." Happy said with a smirk. Fluttershy didn't look convince though. She moved over to Natsu and draped a wing over his side. "There there." She said, trying to soothe him. Happy continued to smirk. "Bah! I'm never going on transportation again!" Natsu exclaimed as he fell off the side of the carriage. Happy landed beside him, "That's what you always say." He pointed out to the currently recovering Dragon Slayer. After recovering completely, Natsu got up and looked around. He immediately saw the figures of multiple white horses wearing golden armour, equipped with spears. Twilight stepped ahead of him, "Gentlecolts, lead the way to the Palace. Princess Celestia wishes to meet our guests." The guards nodded and escorted the group to the throne room. Natsu and Happy looked at each other with worried expressions.
