Learning and Apologizing

“Please?”

“No.”

“Plllleeease?”

“No.”

“Aw come on Bismarck!”

“I told you no Apple Spice!”

“But why not?”

The white unicorn colt with gray spots on his chest, behind, left foreleg and right hind leg stopped his forward walk across the brown halls to leave the schoolhouse. He sighed and then turned around. He looked at cream colored kirin filly with his golden eyes directly in her green eyes in order to help get his point across.

“Listen Apple Spice, I’m not going to let you join. So can you stop asking?” Bismarck asked.

“But Jade’s part of your group of friends,” Apple Spice said, “And Ah’m friends with her so why can’t Ah be part of your group of friends?”

“Because Apple Spice I…it’s a group for unicorns only,” Bismarck lied. In actuality it really wasn’t a group for just unicorns, that’s just what it happens to only have because they all happened to be close, mostly thanks to their parents. And of course Apple Spice figured that out which was why she gave him an unbelieving look.

“Really? And if Ah asked Jade that she would agree with you?” Apple Spice asked. “Besides, Ah have magical fire Ah can breath.”

“Well she…I…” Bismarck tried to think of something to say besides the obvious but he failed to think fast enough before Apple Spice continued with her attack.

“Ya should remember history colt, my auntie is the Element of Honesty,” Apple Spice said. “Honesty runs in my blood. Ah can tell that you’re lyin to me.”

“I well…enough,” Bismarck said in order to get out of it. “I need to go home and work on the school project. My ship needs to be ready to sail in the morning. And I’m sure my parents will be angry if I’m not home for dinner.”

“Do ya even have a reason why you’re not letting me join?” Apple Spice asked.

Bismarck quickly turned around to go away but Apple Spice yelled after him to stop him from running away. “It’s because Ah’m different, isn’t’ it?!” Bismarck stopped, expecting her to go in that direction but hoping he could get out before she went there. “Well, is it?” Apple Spice pursued.

“Apple Spice…no…yes…well yes but it’s not what you think,” Bismarck told her. He turned around to try and explain himself to her, but all he faced was the sad face of a kirin.

“Ah…Ah knew it,” Apple Spice said as she turned away. “Ah…should have guessed. N-nopony like’s me. Just because Ah’m half dragon. Everypony think’s Ah’m a freak, don’t they. Ya do…your friends do…even Jade probably thinks that, she just doesn’t say it cause our parents are close. Nopony cares for me. Ah’m just some half-breed freak.”

She then closer her eyes causing some tears to fall across her face, and she ran past Bismarck, shoving him out of her way as she ran. Bismarck held out a hoof weakly in her direction, but it didn’t matter because she was already through the door and out of the school house. Bismarck sighed and put his eyes towards the ground in shame.

“Was that just…Apple Spice?”

Bismarck looked behind him to see Jade walking up. The teal unicorn with a mix of a pink/orange mane walked up with concern on her face after seeing her friend just run off crying. Of course that just made Bismarck feel even more guilty.

“Yeah…” Bismarck said guiltily.

“What happened with you two?” Jade asked.

“We…had a little misunderstanding,” Bismarck said. “She…wanted to join our circle of friends and I didn’t let her. She took that to me saying I didn’t want her in because she is different. And she left crying after that.”

“And why didn’t you let her join?” Jade asked.

“Well…you know,” Bismarck said “…what happened to Spearmint.”

~

“Not too bad Spearmint,” Bismarck said as he was lying on the grass licking up some light blue ice-cream. He was using his forehooves to hold onto the ice-cream, along with all of his unicorn friends since they were all young and didn’t have very strong magic. They were all lying down in a sort of square and all facing each other.

“Yeah, this is some pretty good ice-cream,” Sea Salt said, while he was digging in to his. The unicorn colt, who’s colors were the same as the ice-cream he was eating, had a very satisfied look as he ate.

“Thanks Sea Salt,” Spearmint said. “That’s great coming from you.” The peach unicorn’s cheeks grew red, so she turned her head to the side so nopony would see her blush.

“Yeah it is,” Jade said. “After all Truffles is a good chef so his son should know a lot about good foods. You should consider yourself lucky that he likes your ice-cream so much.”

“Well…that doesn’t mean anything,” Sea Salt said, while he blushed himself. “I mean…your father is a good barber but I wouldn’t let you anywhere near my mane.”

Jade gained an annoyed expression on her face. She levitated open the saddlebag on her left side and out came a pair of scissors. She levitated the scissors close to Sea Salt’s purple/gray mane, and Sea Salt immediately back up.

“W-wait, I didn’t mean it!” Sea Salt said quickly. Afterwards Jade put the scissors back where she originally had it with a satisfied smile.

“What are ya all doin?” Bismarck and Sea Salt looked up, while Jade and Spearmint looked backwards all to see Apple Spice walking up to them. As soon as they saw her they all gained various levels of nervousness from being within the presence of the young kirin. Sea Salt was the most nervous, while Jade was the least.

“Hey Apple Spice,” Jade said in as friendly of a voice as possible to make up for her friends’ nervousness. “We’re just eating some ice-cream. Want to have some?”

“I didn’t make enough ice-cream for five ponies,” Spearmint mentioned.

“Nah…it’s ok,” Apple Spice said. “Ah…sort of don’t think Ah should be eatin ice-cream anyways because it’s…really cold.”

“Well if you don’t want to,” Jade said.

“Yeah, Ah think Ah’ll just be goi…goi…” Apple Spice felt a little tickle in her nose. “Ahh…Ahh…”

“What’s going on?” Spearmint asked.

“Ahh…achoo!” Apple Spice sneezed. Unfortunately, that sneeze was also brought with some uncontrolled fire. And that uncontrolled fire just happened to be in the direction of one of the fillies in front of her.

The emerald colored flame hit Spearmint’s teal mane starting it on fire. After being paralyzed for a few seconds from shock, Spearmint started screaming and running around wildly. Everypony else got up and also started freaking out and all logic went out the window as nobody knew what to do except for freak out.

“Ah’m sorry Ah’m sorry Ah’m sorry Ah’m sorry Ah’m sorry Ah’m sorry!” Apple Spice constantly repeated, yet she couldn’t think of any way to stop the flames.

“Ok everybody, we need to calm down!” Bismarck said, even though he was freaking out himself. “We need…we need to think of something.”

But they all continued to freak out without any progress getting done as Spearmint’s mane was still burning. Meanwhile, while they were freaking out a lone pegasus colt was flying through the sky. While he was flying he happened to notice the smoke in the sky, so he flew over in the direction the smoke was coming from.

“What’s going on here?” The pegasus asked as soon as he landed.

Apple Spice looked over at the pegasus that landed. “Lightning! I…Spearmint’s mane is on fire! Can ya help us?”

The light gray pegasus nodded and then took off into the sky, leaving a magenta streak behind him. He quickly searched around for a cloud that was saturated with rain. As soon as he found it, he pushed the cloud down towards the ground and tried to get it directly over Spearmint. The only problem was Spearmint kept running around and Lightning had a hard time getting it directly over her.

“Can you guys get her to stay still?” Lightning called down to them.

“I don’t think so,” Jade said.

“Well you need to do something,” Lightning said. “Try using your magic to stop her.”

The three unicorns each tried to combine their magic to grab a different part of Spearmint’s body in order to keep her from running around. They managed to stop her for a few seconds without any problem but she eventually struggled to get out of their magical grasp. Making each of the unicorns struggle to hold on to her.

“Ugg….Lightning. Hurry!” Bismarck said as he struggled to keep his hold.

Lightning flew the cloud over Spearmint and then turned around. He gave the cloud a swift buck with both of his hind hooves, and a crack of thunder sounded and a flash of lightning appeared. The cloud finally started pouring down rain on Spearmint, and the fire within her mane went out.

Spearmint finally stopped panicking, though she was still breathing heavily, and she finally calmed down. Once she did so, she collapsed on the ground. Her mane was still smoking and it was singed all over. And she was still in pain, which was evident to everybody by the pained expression that was on her face.

Bismarck finally regained logic and took charge. “Alright Spearmint, let’s get you to the doctor’s quick. Come on crew, let’s go.”

Bismarck and Sea Salt both went over and put Spearmint on their backs. They them immediately started walking in the direction of Ponyville and the doctor’s office. Lightning landed on the ground and stood next to Apple Spice, who was near tears because of what happened.

“Listen Ah’m…Ah’m…” Apple Spice tried to say. “Ah’m sorry.”

“Now’s not the time Apple Spice,” Bismarck said as he passed by her.

Jade watched as the other three went away and then looked over at Apple Spice. “Jade Ah’m…” Apple Spice started.

“I know,” Jade told her. “I’m…I’m going to go see how Spearmint is doing. See you later Apple Spice.”

~

“Yeah, I remember that day,” Jade said. “We all do. So what? Apple Spice made a little mistake. You would do the same thing if you could breathe fire accidently just by sneezing.”

“Well yeah but…I don’t want her to join and accidently destroy anything or light anything else on fire,” Bismarck said. “I don’t hate her I just don’t want to have to deal with putting out a bunch of fires. Besides, why does she want to join our circle of friends anyways? She’s already friends with you, and she can still try and be friends with Sea Salt, me, and maybe Spearmint if she forgives her.”

“It has nothing to do with having friends,” Jade mentioned. “Are you really that blind?”

“Bind to what?” Bismarck asked.

Jade rolled her eyes. “Apple Spice just wants to be accepted Bismarck,” she said. “Think about it. She is always apologizing when something goes wrong because she doesn’t want anybody blaming her. And do you remember back a while ago to Orchid’s Cutie Mark lecture? We all had our Cutie Marks, and she didn’t, so most of us assumed she wouldn’t get one. During lunch I saw her run outside crying and later learned it was because she thought nopony would accept her unless she had one.”

“Oh…” Bismarck said, feeling stupid. “I…didn’t think of that.”

“You know Bismarck, you may know more about naval history then anypony else in our class or just history in general, but when it comes to ponies you don’t know a thing,” Jade told him. “Just think about how hard things must be for her because of how different she is. Being constantly taunted because she looks different. Why wouldn’t she want to join in our circle of friends, if it means she’ll be accepted?”

“Great, I feel like such a foal now,” Bismarck said. “I am such an idiot. Apple Spice, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t tell that to me, tell it to her,” Jade said.

“Yeah…I will,” Bismarck said. “I’ll make sure to apologize to her.”

“And let her join our circle of friends,” Jade said pointedly.

“But will Spearmint…?” Bismarck began to ask.

“You forgot their mothers are close,” Jade told him. “Apple Bloom already talked to Twist and Spearmint isn’t holding a grudge. And you shouldn’t be holding a grudge either.”

“Alright I understand,” Bismarck said. “Tomorrow I’ll make sure to apologize to her and let her join our circle of friends.”

“Tomorrow? What about today?”

“Well I’ve got that school project I need to work on tonight,” Bismarck said. “Besides, it’s not like it’s too urgent. I’ll be able to apologize to her in the morning…” He saw the look Jade was giving her. “What did I miss?”

“I’ve heard from my mom that Apple Spice has begged Apple Bloom to not go to school some days,” Jade pointed out. “I’ve also heard from Lightning that she’s wanted to run away several times before. I think you should talk to her tonight before…it’s too late.”

Bismarck was not really worried about that, but was hoping otherwise. He really did not want to have to go out to find Apple Spice after their misunderstanding today, especially where she was probably at today. Sweet Apple Acres is probably the closest place to Tartars for him right now. He would rather be anywhere but there, but unfortunately Jade probably wouldn’t like him to do that.

“Alright,” Bismarck gulped. “I…go after her.”

“Good luck,” Jade said and with a wink she walked back off to do her own thing.

“Ugg…the things I do for Jade,” Bismarck said to himself. “But I guess it’s only fair. She’s the only girl I want to sail out to sea with.”

~

Bismarck walked across the dirt path leading towards Sweet Apple Acres. On the horizon he could already see the red farmhouse coming into view. He continued trotting until he reached the open white fence which separated the orchard from the rest of the town. Once he passed by that fence he will be on Apple Family property. Bismarck closed his eyes and took a deep breath before passing through that fence and into Sweet Apple Acres.

Alright so far so good, Bismarck thought. I’m past the fence and haven’t seen anybody I’d rather not see yet. All I need to do is just pass the farmhouse without anypony seeing me and hope that Apple Spice is in the clubhouse at the back of the orchard. I can do this.

Bismarck continued walking across the field making as little noise as he could. He did feel bad sneaking across the Apple Family’s property without their permission, but the only member of the Apple Family that he could possibly meet without things going badly for him were Fluttershy and Apple Cream. And even they could possibly give him ‘the stare’ which he has heard rumors about and would rather not experience for himself.

Ok this is going good. Just keep going at this steady pace and I’ll have my ship out of dangerous waters yet, Bismarck thought. He got close to the farm house and was on the path that leads around it. While walking on that path though he kept his eye on the farmhouse to make sure that nopony is suddenly going to be popping out on him.

Unfortunately for him though he should have kept his eyes in front of him. While Bismarck wasn’t looking he collided with some steady hooves right in front of him and then fell back. His heart fell with worry as soon as that happened and it only got worse as he turned around to see what hit him and came face to face with a cream colored earth pony mare with a red mane tied back by a red bow that did not look happy to see him at all.

Well my ship is sunk, Bismarck thought as he looked at the angry earth pony mare. I just had to run into Apple Bloom. Of course, out of all of the ponies I could have run into, it has to be the one that’s good with a saw, hammer, nails, paintbrush, and paint. All of which she was currently wearing on her pony within a large vest she normally wears.

“What do ya think y’all are doin here?” Apple Bloom asked him sharply.

“Well I’m here to…” Bismarck started but he wasn’t able to go much farther than that.

“Ah heard about what ya did to my daughter already!” Apple Bloom said. “If ya think Ah’m gonna let ya come here and pick on her y’all got another thing comin! Now get before ya make me do somethin Ah’m gonna regret!”

“But I-!” Bismarck yelled out once again to no avail.

“But nothin’,” Apple Bloom replied back. “Go home Bismarck and be lucky that Ah’m only gonna tell your parents! Now get or Ah’ll make sure to bring somebody out here ta make you leave!” Apple Bloom turned around and walked back towards the orchard. “Ah swear, it’s thanks ta colts like you that Ah spend every day worried that my daughter is gonna come home in tears because of some bully. They don’t pay no attention to how sweet of a filly she is, they only care about the fact that she looks a little off. Half breed my flank! Y’all can say the same thing fur mules yet Ah haven’t seen anypony push around a mule half as much as they pick on my daughter.”

“Apple Bloom, I’m here to apologize to her!” Bismarck said before she left. Apple Bloom stopped and turned around to see him.

“Really? And what should make me believe that?” Apple Bloom asked. “Ah was bullied too when Ah was just a filly. Ah know all the tricks bullies like you use.”

“I’m not a bully!” Bismarck said. “We just had a little misunderstanding. I want to apologize to her because of that. Why else would I set sail to here?”

“And you’re not here to torment her?” Apple Bloom asked. She didn’t ask that as sharply or angrily as before so Bismarck hoped that meant that her accusations were almost over. “I’m really supposed to believe that?”

“Yes. Can you just give me the chance?”

Apple Bloom walked up uncomfortably close to Bismarck and lowered her head to look into his eyes. Bismarck tried to stay his ground, but he felt very uncomfortable while staring into the cream colored eyes. His heart pumped faster out of worry on what Apple Bloom is going to say next.

“Alright fine,” Apple Bloom said as she once again turned around and walked away. “Apple Spice is out in the orchard at the clubhouse. Ya can go find her.”

Bismarck let out a sigh of relief. “Thanks,” Bismarck said.

“But…ya hafta get through Spike first,” Apple Bloom continued.

“Wait…what?!” Bismarck said. Out of all of the Apple Family that was the one he least wanted to see.

“If your serious about apologizing ta her, then ya have ta pass Spike first,” Apple Bloom repeated herself. “That way Ah know for sure ya ain’t here to pick on her more.”

Bismarck gulped. “Well…can you at least give him a good word for me?”

“Nope, Ah don’t think Ah’ll do that. After all, this is your fault in the first place.” After saying that Apple Bloom left Bismarck to do what he wants.

Great…Bismarck thought. My ship is about to sail through even more dangerous waters. But I’m…gonna be brave. I know Jade won’t like it if I don’t go through with this. I’m already this far so it’s time to go all the way.

Bismarck took one more deep breath before walking the path into the brown apple trees of the apple orchard. As he was walking through he constantly went between light and shadow because the sun was staring to set. He knew he was going to be late home, but it was too late now anyways. It’s all or nothing.

As he was walking through the orchard he noticed something in front of him blocking out the sun. It’s colors were blocked up by the sun, but Bismarck had an idea of exactly what it was. Or to be more precise, who it is. The shape in front of him was the shape of a dragon, and Bismarck knew that he was about to have a run in with Apple Spice father. Spike was right in front of him.

Bismarck walked up to the purple dragon and as he got close to Spike, Spike turned around to face him. Just like Apple Bloom before him, as soon as Spike saw Bismarck he gained anger on his face. Only it was much more of an intimidating anger and when Spike stared down at him Bismarck wanted to run the other direction.

“What do you think you’re doing here?” Spike asked sharply.

Great, some repetition, Bismarck thought. “I’m here to apologize to Apple Bloom. Listen, I didn’t intend on bullying her. It was just a misunderstanding.”

“So then would you mind explaining to me why you won’t let my daughter join your group?” Spike asked.

“B-because I…well she accidently set Spearmint’s mane on fire so I didn’t want her to accidently do something else like that,” Bismarck said, even though he was almost positive Spike wouldn’t accept that as an excuse.

“And your point is? When I was younger I used to do things like that all the time. I once accidently transported several blank scrolls to Celestia, I once burnt off an entire book in the library, and neither Celestia nor Twilight held that as a grudge,” Spike pointed out. “Hay I once nearly started an out of control fire at this orchard and yet now I’m part of the Apple Family. It’s called being a dragon, or in Apple Spice’s case, a kirin. We can’t control it all the time. But that doesn’t mean you can’t live with it. How would you like it if ponies excluded you just because you could accidently destroy something? And you don’t even mean too. You’d feel just about as bad as you’re making Apple Spice feel right now.”

“I understand that now I just…I didn’t think she really needed to join my circle of friends,” Bismarck said. “She’s already friends with Jade and I didn’t see any reason why she couldn’t be friends with any of my other friends.”

“Of course you didn’t think,” Spike said. “Nobody thinks anything of her. They either think she’s fine and don’t pay any attention to her or if they do pay attention to her it’s only enough to insult her. Nobody thinks of how hard her life must be unless they’re the ones that are making it hard. And of course those emotionless twits don’t care how hard their making her life, or how hard their making her mother’s life.”

“What do you mean her mother’s life?” Bismarck asked. “What’s wrong with Apple Bloom?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Spike said as he turned his back to Bismarck. “It’s not like you’ll care anyways. Just get out of here before you make me madder then I already am.”

“If I didn’t care then I wouldn’t have asked,” Bismarck said as he walked around the dragon to face his front. Spike had his eyes closed when Bismarck got in front of him. “I want to know what you mean.”

Spike breathed deeply. “It’s…I don’t regret marrying Apple Bloom one day but there are days where I almost wish Apple Bloom found some stallion for herself instead of me. It hasn’t been easy for her.” Spike opened his eyes and looked directly at Bismarck. “She always gets looks from Apple Family members from outside of Ponyville each Apple Family reunion. She is the strange member of the family and I’ve heard the gossip ponies say about her. Because Apple Bloom married me, a dragon, and had a foal with me she has lost a lot of social standing. I know she doesn’t care but I do. She also has to deal with the stress of worrying about our daughter that nobody bothers to accept and it isn’t good for her. She’s worn out from all the stress and there is nothing I can do about it. There are days I want to go and threaten ponies like you that pick on my daughter but…I know I can’t do that. I just wish…those two would be happy.”

“And who said Ah ain’t happy?”

Spike turned around and Bismarck looked around Spike to see Apple Bloom behind him. “Apple Bloom I…” Spike said as he tried to find the worlds. “I can just tell you aren’t happy. You’ve been so stressed lately.”

“Well of course Ah’ve been stressed,” Apple Bloom said. “Ah have a daughter Ah have ta worry about. That’s somethin all mothers have ta worry about. Applejack still worries about Candy Apple all the time, Fluttershy still worries about Apple Spice. Sweetie Bell is always worried about Jade, Twist is worried about Spearmint all the time. Even Scootaloo worries about Lightning even though she would never admit it. Ah just have a few extra things ta worry about with my daughter. But that doesn’t mean Ah’m not happy.”

“How are you happy?” Spike asked. “Because of me you have such a hard life. You have the stress of worrying for our daughter, it’s hard for you to get a job because you married me, and even your own family will give you looks.”

Apple Bloom walked up close to Spike. “Ah don’t care that my life’s just a little bit harder. If Ah had the chance to change things, Ah still would choose you, even if it makes my life hard. Because even if things are difficult, Ah’m with the one Ah love and nothin else matters. Seein you and Apple Spice smile, makes it all worth it. Ah knew my life was goin ta be hard when Ah married you…and Ah wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“But this stress…it isn’t good for your health Apple Bloom,” Spike said. “You’re wearing yourself out. And I don’t want you…to exhaust yourself out. Apple Bloom you’re going to leave me at some point in time and I don’t want that to be too soon.”

“Heh, Spike…Ah ain’t goin anywhere anytime soon,” Apple Bloom said. “Yeah Ah’ve got a bit of stress in my life, but ya always make it easier. Ah told ya, seein you and Apple Spice makes all the pain of the day, all the stress go away.”

“Are you sure?” Spike asked.

“Of course Ah’m sure,” Apple Bloom said. “Besies, Ah think Apple Spice is about ta get a little better.” She then looked over at Bismarck. “Don’t y’all have somethin you should be doin?”

“Oh yeah,” Bismarck said. He turned around to go to the headquarters and see Apple Spice. I…should really go apologize to Apple Spice. With all she has gone through and all her family has gone through she needs some happiness.

While he was walking away he heard Apple Bloom say one last thing to Spike. “And ya know, if ya want ta help a bit with that stress, ya could come with me back to the barn. Ah think Ah know somethin we could do to help.”

~

Bismarck walked up to the steps and into the clubhouse. Lying there on the yellow wooden floor just as he expected, was Apple Spice who was still crying, though not as badly as when he last saw here. Bismarck walked up to her, planning on apologizing.

Apple Spice lifted her head up when she heard Bismarck walking in before it fell again after she saw who it was. “W-what do y’all want?” Apple Spice asked. “Come here ta pick on me some more?”

Ok this is the third time I’ve been asked that, Bismarck thought. If I was planning on picking on you again, do you seriously think I would have made it this far? I would have been sunk before I landed on shore.

“No Apple Spice,” Bismarck said. “I’m here to tell you…I’m sorry. I…shouldn’t have really stopped you from joining my circle of friends, just because of one little accident you had. You’ve been through enough already, and I don’t need to make things worse.”

“R-really?” Apple Spice asked as she lifted her head up once again.

“Yeah,” Bismarck said. He walked up closer to Apple Spice. “Listen, I’ve heard that Spearmint isn’t carrying a grudge for you accidently lighting her mane on fire, and I know Jade isn’t. So none of us are made at you right now. So…if you want to join my circle of friends, then I’m willing to let you.”

“Really?!” Apple Spice once again asked, her spirits rising.

“Yeah.” Bismarck lifted up his left hoof. “Welcome to the crew Apple Spice.”

Apple Spice got up on her four hooves and rose up her right hoof. “T-thanks Bismarck,” Apple Spice said as both their hooves collided, sealing the deal.

~

Dear Princess Luna:
Today I accepted Apple Spice into my crew. I didn’t want to at first, but then I learned about all she is going through each day and all her family goes through each day for her. So to help make things easier for her, I let her join in.

At first she was really shy within my crew, and Spearmint and Sea Salt were both nervous around her. But soon after she joined us we all became comfortable around her and her around us, and now we’re all great friends. She is always smiling whenever we are all playing together. And I’ve even heard from Jade that she’s been so much happier even when I haven’t seen her. I hope so. I talked with Apple Bloom and Spike, and they’re both so worried about her so I hope I lessened their yoke a bit more.

I really learned more about Apple Spice that day then I really wanted too. And I’m sort of glad I did. Because I know more about her, it is so much easier to accept her in my crew. And now I know I really shouldn’t exclude anypony. I might just be making their day. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go. We’re having a meeting right now to decide whether we’re bringing in Lightning into the group or not. But I’m pretty sure I already know the answer to that.

Sailing onward to new seas
Bismarck

“Alright Apple Spice, do you think you can send off this letter?” Bismarck asked as he held the letter up with his magic.

“Yeah Ah think Ah…Ahh…” Apple Spice looked like she was about to sneeze.

“Everypony hit the deck!” Bismarck called out, as everybody fell to the floor. As Apple Spice sneezed Bismarck threw the letter into her fire as a quick way of sending it.

“Uhh…there ya go,” Apple Spice said after she was done sending it.

“Well, at least better than my mane,” Spearmint said at the same time that Sea Salt said “Well at least better then Spearmint’s mane.”

“Aw come on you guys, you don’t need to tease her like that,” Jade said.

“Nah, Ah don’t mind,” Apple Spice said. “Ah’d rather you be laughing with me then at me.”

“Well now that that’s done,” Bismarck said, “it’s time to get back down to business. All who agree with bringing Lighting in to the crew say Aye.”

“Aye,” said the unanimous vote of everypony in the room.
