//------------------------------// // Epilogue // Story: Power of the Song // by Authora97 //------------------------------// Eleven Years Later It was that time of year again, Rose thought. The time where her parents would meet up with their friends and talk. She got to work on her magic and spend time with her younger brother, that a was a plus though. Her cousins would be a little more chaotic. The birthday party for twins Winter Rose and Autumn Sun. Turning ten in three days. There was Cousin Apple Tart who lived on the farm with Uncle Applejack, he would be coming. Then there was Cousin Apple Butter who lived with Aunt Red Gala and Uncle Butterscotch at his cottage. Cousin Surprise was, well a hooful even without her father around. Uncle Rainbow Blitz was cool, he was the one that helped teach Autumn Sun how to fly. Uncle Elusive and Cousin Rarity were a pain, always trying to get Winter Rose in some dress much to Aunt Spines’ warnings. What made that night hard, was that as the Eldest out of all the foals, Winter and Autumn had to keep them in check. “Winter Rose come inside please!” Her mother yelled. Getting up off her hooves, Winter began running. Winter Rose was a pretty unicorn for a nine year old. She had her mother’s brown mane and her father’s purple coat and horn. Her cutie mark was a rose frozen solid, earned during Winter Wrap Up two years prior while helping move the snow. She had two different colored eyes, one bright green and the other sky blue blue (something her father said she got from her mom). “You called Mom?” Winter said as she ran into the large tree home that she lived in with her family. “I told you to watch Autumn Sun right?” Her mother asked. “Yeah...but he said he didn’t wanna go outside so I said he could stay in here.” Winter said. Winter looked her two colored eyes at her mom. According to her she was 28 and proud, showing almost no sign of aging over the years except for she grew at least another two inches. Her skin was still fair with light freckles, her eyes were unique. Even for a pony. One looked like a mixture of Winter Rose’s eyes, the other looked like her brother’s eyes put together. Now, Sabrina was a kind mom so long as her kids listened (now she understood how her mother felt all those years) and her daughter was almost her twin. Except for the whole being a different species thing. And the colors... Okay, mentally the could be twins. “And I told you that even if he said he didn’t want to that you could drag his plot outside. You both need fresh air every week and living in a tree does not mean that you can stay in all hours, that goes twice for Autumn.” “You aren’t trying to get him to stop reading that book are you?” A stallion walking into the library asked his wife. He looked about the same as he did during the raid of the Hive. His dark blue mane was well cut, framing the unicorn horn with a gold ring on it. “No.” His wife lied. “Autumn, could you come down here please?” Dusk Shine yelled up the stairs. Sabrina wanted to protest but the pale orange pegasus was already down the stairs before she could object. The stallion had received his mom’s coat and his dad’s mane. His cutie mark was a maple leaf shaped sun, earned during a summer trip when he tried to making S’Fall. Didn’t quite work the way he wanted it to. His eyes were multicolored, one being ocean blue and the other being deep red. Autumn Sun had picked up his dad’s love of books, studying and the art of all things checklist. Being held in his wing was a blue book. “HA! I knew you had it!” Sabrina yelled at her son. “I told you the Art of the Checklist was not a book to life by.” “But Mom! It’s so cool!” He whined. Sabrina rolled her eyes, using autumn magic to move the book to her. “Hey! I love that book!” Dusk yelled. “Exactly, I know you love this book because of the episode ‘Secret to my Excess’. Never in all of my life did I see my son reading it for fun.” Sabrina said. Winter Rose and Autumn Sun rolled their eyes. Mom was talking about that show again. She would make references to it about once a month, making the rest of their ‘family’ laughing or becoming skittish. “Which one was that again?” Dusk asked his wife. “The one on Spines’ birthday.” This was a skittish time. “Did it look as bad as it was?” Sabrina shrugged her shoulders. “Might have, I wasn’t there so I wouldn’t know.” She almost didn’t notice Dusk using his magic to take the book away. "Fool me once shame on me fool me twice shame on you." Sabrina gloated. "I swear, sometimes it's like I'm raising three foals." Dusk grumbled. "Well at least you know that my child like qualities are compelling. As are your mature aspects." "How is it that you act childish one second and sophisticated the next?" Dusk asked her. "Human Nature." Her kids laughed at this. Their parents fought so weirdly. Dusk have a laugh at his wife. He still remembered that day almost eleven years ago. She had defeated Morphosis but soon fainted once she arrived back at the group. When she awoke, Dusk made sure Sabrina saw him first. She kissed him the next second. Over the course of the year, the two creatures had gone on many dates until one night Dusk proposed, almost a month later the wedding at Canterlot, and two months after that they found out about Winter Rose and Autumn Sun. Now, at first it was scary. More monsters had come, a couple times a changeling wanting revenge and help from starvation. Sabrina, wanting to say she saved a species and also knowing it might have been slightly her fault, decided to help them. "That is just the Berry way of taking it." Dusk explained to her. "No. I actually knew a lot more humans behaving even more childish than me." Sabrina laughed. "The big Double Digit Birthday is coming up and I would at least like my kids to find their own habits and not ones they took from us." “Sabrina, I’m sure Autumn decided this all on his own.” Dusk said, keeping a straight face. Sabrina and Dusk locked eyes for a moment, before they started going into hysterics. Winter Rose laughed at her parents, they would always laugh after they fought like that. The only time they didn’t, well. She couldn’t remember a time when they didn’t. “You’re guys are weirder than Uncle Berry.” Autumn chuckled. “Oh are we now?” Sabrina asked her son. Neither twin noticed two snowballs forming on the back of their heads. “Yeah.” Winter laughed. “Is this weird?” Sabrina asked, letting the snow fall on their heads. Causing the kids and mother laugh, the husband not too long after. Meanwhile, off near an old house made completely out of leaves, ice and magic, a small blue portal appeared and a girl was pushed out. She was wearing strange camouflage with matching pants. While she lifted herself off the ground, she was a little dizzy. “Ugh...” She groaned. “Still not there yet.” Her purple eyes glowed slightly, making her groan again. “It’s not my fault Darce, you saw all those leylines. How am I supposed to find the one to Dominic’s place in that mess?” The purple eye flared. “Okay, this time I’ll let you choose. Seventh time's the charm right?” With that, another portal appeared behind the girl with two colored eyes. “Going down.” She said before falling backwards right into the portal. She was getting almost there.
