Prologue

We are all mad here

Zeirulious Klien Makavar, a madman of sorts. But then again, how does one explain something that claims it isn't supposed to exist? Using this logic, almost everything that we define as understanding and logic goes out a metaphorical window. With the things he does in a matter of seconds he could be described as a god, if not something greater, if possible. He claims to see things called the 'Strings of the Universe.' He describes them as the pull of everything. Though what that means, is unknown.
Twilight Sparkle, a mare. It's about as simple as that. She claims to be from far into the future, and having learned magic from one Princess Celestia, though the possibilities of this being true are slim. Nothing more can be said about her.
Ravenwood Academy of Magic. A school for anypony who wishes to learn in the was of the raw, unchecked power we call magic. Rumors have begun to surface about it, such as creatures that best be unnamed live within it's walls, and that you shouldn't wander the halls at night.
Be warned when entering these walls, for we are all mad here.

Makavar chuckled, watching the students rush by him. He shook his head as tons of them stood to look at him with awe, the majority being Unicorns. He then looked over at one mulberry coated Unicorn, a soft smile on his face. She introduced herself as Twilight Sparkle He questioned, only ever so slightly, where she came from. This was only because her accent in speaking was different then the others. That and her control over myst seemed to be as great as his was.
"Is something wrong?" The mare asked, walking over to him. "You seem to be staring."
"No, everything is fine madam."
"Oh," Twilight Sparkle smiled, looking down. "Well, I thank you. For letting me teach here. It's going to help me a lot."
"There is no problem." Makavar chuckled, patting her on the head, his drakyl claws lightly touching her. "You're control of myst is much greater then the rest of the ponies here. I should know, I've been watching them for a great time now."
"That's one thing I've been meaning to ask you."
"Oh?"
"Why are you referring to magic as Myst?" Twilight asked, confused. "I've never heard that term before."
"Never?" Makavar responded, a slight chuckle in his voice. "Well, Myst is a term used to describe the essence of all things. Be it the ant that crawls under the ground, to the mighty dragon that soars the skies. All things are made of amounts of Myst, mixed with other things, and as such all things can use Myst for different things. The more Myst, the greater influence you have on the world."
"So, Myst is..." Twilight sighed, looking around. "Important, because it enables us to use magic... wait, did you say all things can use it?"
"Yes, all things."
"So that explains why so many types of ponies where coming here..." She chuckled, as she turned to leave. "I thank you again Makavar, for agreeing to let me teach here."
"Again, there is no problem." He said, smiling as she walked away.

Twilight shook her head in confusion. Not only did she have to get used to some dragon thing teaching students magic, but she also had to get used to the fact that for some reason, she'd been thrown back in time. She knew, and could verify that she was in the past, her own past, as now it's the present. When she woke up the previous morning, she found herself out side what would become her tree house. She knew it was her tree house, even though other trees were around it. She couldn't tell how far back she was but she could tell it had to be further then the one thousand years Luna was trapped on the moon as Nightmare Moon, as no pony had heard of Luna or Celestia.
This fact, only made her worried about how to get back to her own time. And how long it would take her to find out a way to. She looked around the apartment room that she was renting with the little money she had with her when she woke up, when a thought dawned on her, how was she back in the past? Once she answered that question, shouldn't the rest fall into place? At least, that's what she hoped.

Twilight sighed, as she looked around the are. She had gone to meet with the other teachers, and when she couldn't find any, she went to look for Makavar. "Why aren't there any other Teachers?" She asked him, when she did find him.
"Because." He replied, not looking at her. "No other pony has the level of ability as we do." He then chuckled, shaking his head. "Granted, yours isn't as great as mine, but as I said it's far above the others."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Well, I still think that you should have more teachers." Twilight mumbled, shaking her head. "There is no way we both can teach hundreds, if not thousands, of students. I don't care how skilled you are, it's impossible." She sighed, turning to walk away again.
"I'll put it into consideration."

Twilight sighed, once she got back to her room again. She found herself drifting away, wondering how things would be if she had to stay back in the past. She had a gut feeling that her friends missed her already, then started to wonder when she'd see them again. She knew it would be near impossible due to the fact that she'd be dead before they were born, if she didn't find a way back that is.
