Twilight Sparkle was so happy. She trotted down the stairs at the Ponyville Library carrying a cardboard box in front of her. She smiled with joy because she had just bought a game of Pony Risk, a board game that she had heard would be very entertaining and fun! The unicorn had invited all of her friends to her place to try it out. 
"Spike!" she yelled and placed the box on the dining table. "Do you want to play Pony Risk with me and my friends?"
"Nah, I don't really like playing strategy games, but thanks anyway for inviting me," the dragon said while slouching on his bed. "Besides, there are only six colours in the game..."
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know," Twilight said. 
She had never played Pony Risk before but she hoped she could easily learn the rules of the game when they played. Oh, this was going to be so fun! 
There was a knock on the door and when Twilight opened she saw Fluttershy. 
"Hi, Twilight. What a lovely idea to try the... um... new game."
"Thank you, Fluttershy. Please come in!"
They unpacked the Pony Risk from its box while the other ponies arrived. Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. Soon the map, the cards and all the little plastic pony soldiers were placed on the table. Twilight dealt the cards and her friends put their armies on the map. Pinkie Pie placed all of her extra troops in the region of Saddle Arabia, right next to Rarity's. 
"But Pinkie, are you really sure that you want to place your troops right there? Wouldn't it be better if you spread them evenly on the map?" Rarity said. 
"Oki doki," Pinkie said and reached for her armies. 
"No, hold on for a second!" said Applejack. "I'm not sure that it's okay to move troops when they're already placed." 
"But I don't want be destroyed by Pinkie's army right from the start!"
"No, silly! I didn't want to do that! I just put them there for fun!" 
"Do you promise, Pinkie?"
"You want me to make a Pinkie promise?"
"That ain't fair!" said Applejack. "If you Pinkie promise, then you have to promise me and Rainbow too! And Fluttershy and Twilight!"
"Then I promise to not promise anything!" Pinkie giggled. 
"Lets play!" said Rainbow and rolled the dices. "I choose to attack Rarity in Eastern Ponystralia! With all my ponies... from here."
After a couple of turns there was a stalemate between everypony. Twilight was starting to loose most of her territories one by one. She was beginning to get a little upset, but she decided to be a good sport and congratulate her adversaries for their victories. "Oh, good throw Rainbow! What a battle, Rarity!"
And then Fluttershy suddenly invaded Rainbow's territory with a giant army!
"No! You're destroying me, Fluttershy!" 
"Oh, sorry, Rainbow... I didn't want to..."
"But please do continue, Fluttershy!" Rarity said, rubbing her hooves. 
"No, I don't want to..." 
"But I insist," Rarity said. "MWAHAHA!"
"No! My armies!" Rainbow screamed and rose from her chair. 
A stack of cards fell to the floor.
"Rainbow Dash is cheating!" Applejack said. 
"I'm not!" 
"Then, why do you sit on all those cards?"
"Because I'm awesome?"
"No, because you cheated! Now put the cards back!" 
"Fine... But I'm going to win anyway! I don't need any stupid cards..."
But now it looked really bad for Rainbow! Most of her territories were lost and she had only the continent of Ponystralia left! 
"I hate losing!" she said. 
"Then, would you like to... join me in a pact?" Rarity asked. 
"Hm... Yes. Hehehe..."
"Hehehehe" 
"No! I'm not sure that's allowed in the rules," Twilight said while quickly reading trough the booklet of instructions. 
"That might be, but I do promise not to attack Rainbow if she doesn't attack me," said Rarity. 
And together they attacked Fluttershy and took most of her territories!
"Oh, no! I'm... losing all of... oh!" said Fluttershy and she ran away from the table, crying. 
"No, please Fluttershy!" Twilight said and went after her. "It's only a game! You don't need to cry!"
"B... but I always lose! I wanted so badly to play this game... and now I... I..." she sobbed. 
"Now I feel bad," said Rainbow and her ears went down in sadness. "I promise not to attack you anymore. Please don't be sad... If you want we could always form a pact against Rarity?" 
"Hrmpf! And you're supposed to be the element of loyalty? More like the element of cheating at board games..."
"I only cheated ONCE, Rarity!" 
"Then, why are there so many of the blue pony armies strewn across the ocean? Is it because they blend in so well with the background?"
"Isn't blue the colour of YOUR armies, Rarity?" Applejack asked. 
"No, silly! It's my colour! I'm taking them for a swim!" Pinkie said and took a bite out of a cupcake.
"That's cheating!"
"But they're pirates!"
"According to the rules, there are no pirates in this game," Twilight said, waving the booklet in front of them. "Please, stop bickering so we can finish this game!" 
Three or four of her armies fell out from the pages and landed on the map. 
"Oh, I didn't know that..."
"Twilight! You are cheating to!" 
"Maybe a little... I just wanted to keep playing. It's not like I wanted to cheat to win, but to cheat so that I could learn more about the..."
"Nice try, Twilight!" Rainbow said and grabbed the booklet.
But at the same time she happened to shake the table a little so a pair Rarity's armies fell off the map!
"You did that on purpose!" 
And Rarity shook the table, just a little. All the armies on the whole map were toppled. 
"THAT'S IT!" shouted Applejack and flipped the table over! 
Rainbow, Rarity and Applejack started to wrestle on top of the fallen table, throwing all the pieces around. Cards and dices were strewn across the carpet. The struggling ponies somehow absorbed both Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy into their ridiculous battle. Twilight had had enough!
"Have you all gone insane?! It's only a game and you're already wreaking havoc to my furniture! Princess Celestia gave that table to me!" 
She grabbed a broom and started to chase them around in the library. The ponies galloped in panic and tumped over chairs, paintings, sculptures and everything but the kitchen sink. Rainbow Dash flew head first into the bookcase and knocked down all the books. They formed an avalanche of paper, parchment and papyrus before they settled on the floor a cloud of dust. 
"NOOO!" screamed Twilight in rage, her tail and mane nearly erupting in flames. "My books! My precious books!" 
"Oups, I guess I..." said Rainbow. 
"I didn't mean to..." Rarity said.
Fluttershy started to cry again. 
"Go home! All of you!" Twilight shouted and swung the door open. "And don't come back until you all have redeemed yourselves!" 
And her friends went home, very ashamed of their behaviour. They left a trail of lumps of pink cupcake topping and small plastic game pieces after them.
