From the Ashes of the Phoenix (Part 1)

Train Shootout

She started to cry and nodded her head. We left the library built in that tree now covered in bullet holes. I knew are best option would be getting to the train station and taking a train. we went through town avoid large open areas, after a few minutes we made to the station and boarded an empty train, this train had made all it’s rounds for the day and was waiting to be cleaned. We made up to the front of the train and had her wait in the first car of the train. I forced open the door to the engine room and started up the train,I know I was wrong just to take the train, but as I could see it was our only choice right now, the train slowly built up to full speed. I saw the station slowly creep out of sight. I felt safe now as the train went to the full speed of 75mph, the train was on course for Manehattan, it seems like a good place to stay low for awhile.

Now came the hard part, letting Twilight know the truth. I left the engine room and entered into the first passenger car, there she was sitting in one of the seats she looked very shaken up. I approached her and took a seat next to her.

“Look, I haven’t been 100% honest with you and a lot of what I say is going to come as shock but I need to tell you everything now and know I never meant to hurt you, so please just hear me out and you have every reason to be upset.” I said calmly.

As I said I told her everything, my life as a mercenary, why I was in Ponyville in the first place, and who and why those ponies wanted me dead. as expected she took it hard, she burst into tears and couldn’t even look me in the eye. when I finished telling her everything she stood up and slapped me across the face, I deserved that, I deserved anything she would throw at me. What came next I didn’t expect, she threw her arms over me, she was hugging me me.

She then whispered into my ear “It’s okay I’m not too mad at you, I like you for who you are not who you were, just promise me you won’t lie to me from here on out, I care for you and don’t want to see you get hurt anymore.”

She continued to stay in my arms for a few more minutes as she continued to sob, I had a new goal in life keeping her safe. I almost missed it but I saw a few objects approaching the train at fast speeds, they were jeeps with more of those ponies in black uniforms. as soon as they got in range they opened fire on the train.

“DAMN IT!” I yelled “Get Down!”

Twilight got off of me and hid under one the car’s seats. I grabbed my crossbow, stayed low and headed to the roof of the train. It was hard to get my hoofing but since I’ve been in situations like this before I quickly found my balance. I laid onto the roof of the car, checked my bolt bag I still had about 25 left and two loaded pistols hopefully that would be enough to hold them off, I was really hard to hear with all this wind blowing in my ears but I could tell there bullet were flying over my head. I lined up a shot and fired, but the wind took my bolt and I completely missed, If I wanted to hit anything I would have to work with the wind. I aimed off to the side this time, the wind took the arrow and sent it flying through one of the drivers neck, and the jeep halted to a stop leaving the gunner behind. there were still three more jeeps left, I took four more shots missing every time. Then I noticed the perfect shot, two of the jeeps were driving awfully close to one another, I lined up another shot, this one took out one of the drivers, causing one of the jeeps to crash into the other one, fire broke out on both jeeps and both exploded into a big fire ball, now only one left.

I sat down my crossbow and pulled out one of my pistols so the wind wouldn’t take the bullets. I fired I fired few times taking out the gunner, the driver stopped knowing he had been beat and turned around. I Grabbed my stuff and headed back into the train. Just as I got inside the train entered a tunnel It got a lot harder to see inside, Twilight was still under the seat unscaved.

“Is it safe to come out now?” She asked

“Yeah it’s safe, I took care of them.” I repiled

She came out from under the seat and gasped “Your leg is bleeding were you hit?”

I hadn’t noticed but I had cut myself a lot deeper than what I thought when I took the cast off and it was still bleeding pretty badly.

“Oh that, that’s just from when I took my cast off, I’m fine.” I said

“God you had my worried” she said “here let me patch that up.”

She grabbed some white cloth and tied it over all the places I had cut myself, the cloth instantly turn blood red.

“Thanks!” I hugged her and said “I’m sorry.”

“I forgive you.” she said “Just don’t be getting yourself hurt okay.”

I started feeling better, we were in the clear for now. There was only way to put an end to this, take out the new President Of Phoenix Corp. Just as we stopped hugging I heard the crash of something dropping and I also saw the shadow of a pony. Somepony else was on the train.
