Chapter 1
Wake up John
View point: third person, Cortana

Darkness... That's all there was around her, darkness. Cortana sat atop a pedestal just sitting there, trying to keep her sanity. How could she? Cortana had sat there for more than 4 years doing nothing. She managed to occupy her boredom for a short time by upgrading her Companions armor. Her companion was none other than Spartan-117. Upgrading his firmware took no more than 1 year, 5 months, 6 days and 7 seconds. She may have started to go rampant but she was still very accurate. Suddenly she was taken from her thoughts as rumbles ran throughout the ship. She looked up and started to smile

"An excuse I finally have an excuse!" A voice said maniacally in the back of her mind. Cortana did her best to ignore the voice which would soon be the one of many and focused on the situation. She slowly stood up and pulled up a diagnostic of the ship. There were multiple spots on the ship where they were most likely being boarded by either a rescue team or an enemy.

"Finally after all this time!" The voice exclaimed louder this time. Cortana was now trying her best to keep her Rampancy away just for awhile longer. Cortana slid the ship diagnostic to the side and brought up the cryo tubes activation interface she momentarily searched for the correct one then tapped her fingers on it. The cryo tube gave her a reading on the chief's vitals. she payed no attention to them as her eyes were fixed on the large button that read reactivate...

View point: Third person, Master chief

Confusion, that's what was going through the Master chief's mind for a split second. As soon as he realized that he was trapped he snapped to attention and put his hands against the glass.

"Chief! Easy, you've been out for a while." The Master Chief immediately recognized the voice as his AI companion. upon hearing her voice the Chief settled down and looked over at her.

"Where are we?" He asked as he tried to recognize his surroundings.

"We're still adrift on the Dawn." She replied as she brought up a projection in front of her. The Chief was confused to say the least. He thought that someone surely would have found them by now. But the real question on the Chief's mind was...

"Why did you wake me?" He asked in his trademark monotone voice.

"Hang on. Bringing your systems online now." She said currently focused at the task. The Chief looked down at his armor and noticed that it had changed quite a bit. The Chief was impressed to say the least.

Cortana noticed his actions for a moment and responded. "I rewrote your suit's firmware while you were out."

Master Chief nodded. "You've been busy."

"Activating the ship's gravity generators." Cortana announced. A moment later boxes and a few weapons fell to the ground. The ship's systems then began to announce the restoration after it had already happened.

"Chief - look up, you need to pull the manual release." Cortana instructed.

Master Chief looked up and instantly found the small handle that he was looking for. He pulled down on the handle which led to a hissing noise inside the pod. The chief looked back down at the canopy and pushed it open. He then made his way to a smiling Cortana.

"Seems like old times." She said, still smiling.

"Ready to get back to work?" He asked.

"I'd though you'd never ask." She replied. Taking that as his Que, John pulled the chip which held Cortana and inserted it into the back of his helmet. Cortana had immediately found her way onto the Chief's HUD which surprised him a little. The Chief's next objective was to see if any of the weapons that were floating around were still in good shape. He bent down and threw a small box to the side underneath the box's previous position was a standard issue UNSC assault rifle and a few mags to go with it. The master chief picked up the deadly weapon and inspected the gun for a few moments before he switched it from safe to full-auto then picked up the mags that went with the killing machine.

Suddenly Cortana appeared on the Chief's HUD, "We've got intrusion alerts lighting up on multiple decks. Our best bet to figure out who's boarding us is the Observation Deck - four floors up."

"Could it be a rescue team?" Chief asked her. As soon as he finished his question a multitude of rumbles and explosions sounded throughout the ship.

Cortana shook her head slightly. "I wouldn't bet on it." And with that she disappeared from his HUD.

The Chief looked down the hall and set off, setting off to face the unknown border head on...

New location: Ponyville
View point: Third person, Twilight Sparkle

"SPIIIKE!?" A voice sounded throughout a library tree. This library tree, known as the "mare cave" by some, was home to the studious student Twilight Sparkle. And she was currently not very happy.

Inside the library a teenage purple and green dragon was frantically running back and forth trying to do a million things at once. He was supposed to meet his close friend Rarity at a special restraunt tonight and was supposed to help Twilight study the stars on the same night. He told her what he had already planned but promised to help her set up everything.

"What is it Twilight?" Spike ran over to Twilight, panting as he did so. Twilight was currently set up with a large telescope, 5 notepads, 3 astronomy guides, and had some of Spike's homemade cookies along side her.

"I need quills!" She said loudly. Not even bothering to say please. Knowing she forgot them, Spike pulled some extra quills from his black tuxedo pocket.

"There. Now if you'll excuse me I'll see you later tonight." He breathed as he ran down stairs, shutting the door behind him. Now Twilight the unicorn was all alone. She smiled, Princess Luna had given her the task to study tonight's star fall and Twilight, being the unicorn who always wanted to learn more happily accepted. To bad she didn't know that tonight she was about to see something that would eventually change everything she knew about her world...
